CelticsBlog 88 is the magic number!

I'm sure you all hear me going off in the chat room during games. 22 per quarter. 22 per quarter. 22 per quarter. I make a lot of jokes about this number being carefully calculated over Guinness and snacks, but all in all its true. If the Celtics hold opponents to that magical 22 number each quarter there are two things that are happening.

The first thing is we are playing defense and contesting shots and keeping our hands up and giving us a chance to get those loose balls and apply direct pressure to the offense.

The second thing is we are not letting their defense get set and open up fast breaks which is where 85% of our points come from when we are pushing a lead. Our best offensive possessions typically comes from us forcing turnovers, but not just any turnovers, but the ones when the the whole team is chasing 3 Celtics back trying ti get on defense and that quick "pop" score gives us a chance to get our defense set before the ball is inbounded.

We are a team that thrives on TEMPO the ride the ebb and flow of the game, which is why some of the fouls that get called against us that kill the tempo look and feel so deliberate, they kill us. All and all game was one great other them the 30 to 18 scoring n the 4th but they are a streaky team, they score in bunches that fact that we only saw two scoring runs from them is great and most of it was do to solid D.

I loved the energy coming out of the 3rd, by far this is the most import quarter second only to the last 2 minutes of the game. The magic usually kill us here, but tonight we gave as good as we got +6. Nice to see.

Great game boys and girls!

CelticsBlog Nothing Like a little Miami Home cooking!

Salvatore is a dirty SOB! WTF are these jackasses thinking, Rondo got called for a foul when D-Wade crashed into him? I would hate to see yet another playoff injustice happen.

I missed the 1st quarter did I miss anything important?

P.S. why does this stupid fanpost deal require seventy-five words? It is very obnoxious especially when you just want to toss a quick note out.

Only sixty-none words now, this should get me over the hump.

CelticsBlog So what do we do next year?

If Wyc will allow the the same money, we will have around 22 million to throw next year.

Can we sign Ray for around 5 million?

Do we keep Quisy or Nate?

Can we sign who/what we need for around 10 million?

Most of the big names are looking at player options of 17 million + so I doubt we will landing Chris Bosh and using KG mentorship to groom him into the defensive monster KG used to be. (hint hint nugde nudge)

What are our rebuild options? Rondo is great, but he needs players that can keep up with him and not two steps out of the glue factory. It pains me to say this, but we had our shot and unless we have a little luck and a four leaf clover of a miracle our window is not only shut, but our fingers got caught in it.

CelticsBlog Another Philly Trade Idea

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ylyv7ue

Wallace, Ray Ray, 2 future picks to Philly for Iguodala and Dalembert

Wallace gets to go back home, Ray gets to stay on the east coast.

Philly gets two championship players with little to no commitment and opens up a ton of money for this years gree agent frenzy. They also get to keep Williams to develope.

Boston moves Pierce to more of a shooting roll, which his can easily do and will take a heavy load off of him and replace Ray Allens role. Iguodala fills Pierce's old role of drive and attack role. Dalembert will be more of the inside player we need rather then Mr. no so big shot Wallace.

Thoughts or is this another dream deal that will never happen?

CelticsBlog Refs out of control!

I cannot believe this game, NBA needs to step up because its getting silly. The last 2 times we played ATL there was some questionable calls and no calls, but game 3 is a joke, I dont think I have ever in my life seen such poor officiating, maybe the Kings game....maybe! If the C's loose this game I dont see those dirty SOB's making it of beantown. Take a bat to the whole lot of them.

CelticsBlog Wish it was the Lakers, but Orlando will do

http://www.nesn.com/2009/08/van-gundy-says-playing-celtics-on-christmas-day-is-disrespectful.html?sbn

I have always thought that the Van Gundy's were [jerks], but this is crazy! True it has typically been the finals match ups, but the NBA has put together two really great games on X-mas day. Stop whinning.....just stop, both of the finals teams Lakers and Orlando have * by your confrence titles, and L.A. by your banner. I want to see some ANTI-HARRY-POTTER on x-mas, not typically a fan of blow outs, but in this case......that will do pig.....that will do!
