Been watching the Braves all my life. Before my parents and I moved to Georgia we would always come to Atlanta during the summer and catch game. I was lucky enough attend the longest game (time wise) in Braves history, on July 4-5, 1985. I was only 7 at the time and my parents refused to leave despite all the rain delays. This is the moment I truly learned what it meant to be a fan. The only summer I didn't go to Atlanta was when we lived in Long Island and we saw them play at Shea Stadium. Unfortunately they were still in the NL West at the time so they didn't come to town often. I probably attended more games at Fulton Co Stadium than I have at Turner Field, despite having lived in Georgia since 1990. And I've been to as many G-Braves games as I have at Turner Field, but thats probably because I live 5 minutes from Coolray Stadium.

Simmons out "atleast" 4 weeks

He was placed on the 15 day DL, but they say he will have to wear a cast for atleast 4 weeks. No bueno.

This may make Jurrjens feel better

Jurrjens ranked the #12 Most Underrated Pitcher in the MLB, even though he's not in the MLB right now. But what I wonder is which 293 players did they poll to get these results. I expected to see Beachy but no.

Teams that have checked in with the Braves say their offense has been so good that, barring injuries, they're more likely to shop for an impact starting pitcher in July than a bat. But GM Frank Wren says: "We have a guy internally who's probably better than any arm who will be available, and that's Kris Medlen. He's never thrown over 120 innings in a season, so we've got to be careful with his innings. But if we feel we need a guy late in the season, we wouldn't be afraid to take him out of the bullpen and transition him into the rotation." In case you hadn't noticed, Medlen has the lowest WHIP (1.04) in a very talented Braves bullpen these days.

More players sent down to the Minors

The Braves have re-assigned five players to the minor leagues: C Christian Bethancourt, LHP Dusty Hughes, INF Ernesto Mejia, RHP Adam Russell, and INF Joey Terdoslavich.

I think I've settled the debate over the nickname that should be bestowed upon Minor League break-out star Joey Terdoslavich. That nickname is Chet, the older brother in Wierd Science
