The A's minor league farm teams played a full schedule of games last night, winning two and losing three.

Sacramento beat Portland 9-1 last night behind the strong pitching of Jason Windsor.

Midland split a doubleheader with Arkansas last night in the Texas League, losing the first game 9-1 and winning the second 4-3.

Bakersfield beat Stockton in the California League by the score of 5-0.

Beloit beat Kane County in the Midwest League 4-2.

Rivercats win 9-1. Jason Windsor pitched deep into the game with Portland last night, finally giving up his shutout he had for 7 innings and yielded a run and 5 hits in 7.2 innings. It was the kind of pitching he needs to do to get noticed and get back to the big league club.

Jason Stokes hit a homerun and batted in 5 runs in the game; it was the first offense he has supplied in this young season.

Barton went 2 for 2 plus had two walks and 2 runs in the game. He is now hitting .400.

Suzuki went 1 for 4 with a run and 2 RBI. Average is now .348.

Stavisky went 2 for 3 with a run and a RBI. Average is now .286

Perez went 0 for 4 with 2 K's to continue his hitless streak starting off the season with Sacto.

Robertson pitched 1.1 inning of scoreless relief.

Rockhounds split a doubleheader, suffering their first loss of the season in the first game. Jeff Baisley continued to excel with the bat going 2 for 3 in the first game and 1 for 3 with a double in the second one. Average is .471.

Petit also continued to hit going 1 for 2 in first game and 1 for 3 in the second. Avg .353.

Cornejo hit an RBI double in the 7th inning of the second game to help pull out the victory.

Tadano got the loss in the first game with 3 ER in 5 IP and 9 hits surrendered.

Allison gave up 5 ER in 1.2 innings in first game.

Jeff Gray got the win in the second game, giving up one unearned run in 2 innings pitched. Kevin Deaton was the starter and gave up 2 ER in 5 IP.

And Landon Powell hit hit a three run HR, supplying the power in the second game.

Stockton was shutout by Bakersfield. Stockton starter Luis Ramirez gave up 4 ER in 3 innings. Semerano gave up no runs in 4 IP of relief.

Javier Herrera went 2 for 5, raising his average to .160 this season. The offense failed to show up for the game. On the bright side there were no Stockton errors.

Kane County lost to Beloit. Starter John Herrera got off to a great start gaving up 2 hits in 5 IP. Then relievers Patrick Currin and Ron Madej each gave up 2 runs.

Susan Slusser of SF Gate and the Drumbeat site reporting that Bobby Kielty has torn something in his left knee and will require surgery and be out from 3 to 6 weeks following that surgery.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/sfgate/indexn?blogid=21

That will bring into play possibly another outfield slot to be filled initially this season; hopefully a slot and more opportunity for Ryan Goleski to make the team out of spring training. Take advantage of this opening Mike Goleski.

GO A'S... AND WIN THIS YEAR.

Hiram BOCACHICA re-signs with A's

Yes, the most newsworthy item of the day on a dull day is that the savior of the A's, Hiram Bocachica has been re-signed by the A's.

USA TODAY is the first to report his re-signing in their daily transactions section. His being back gives the A's another backup centerfielder available in the A's come up with injuries to one of the outfielders they are already depending upon to play center this year.

One of the A's writers, Melissa Lockard, had previously reported on the MVP Network blog that he was going to take a short look around before considering resigning with the team. She felt it was a 50-50 chance he would resign a minor league contract.

I for one think his numbers in the minors last year of 19 HR's in about 75 games speak highly of his AAAA talent and indicate he would do okay in the big leagues if he got the opportunity. Several years ago he excelled in spring training only to come down injured and miss most of the season. HERES TO YOUR SUCCESS HIRAM.....

Chad GAUDIN recalled from Sac; Kielty down

Today the A's recalled Chad Gaudin from Sacramento where he was 2-0 0.52 in 17 innings so far this year. To make room for him on the 25 man roster, Kielty (Ronnie Mac) was sent to Sacramento for the second time this season. I have found no link yet, but substantiated a rumor of his being recalled with changes that have been made on the minor league baseball Sacramento roster already.

The A's are once again running short on relievers and needed an extra arm for tonights game with Huston Street unavailable until Saturday night at the earliest. Other players were equally capable of being sent down, but Kielty was the chosen one as he does have options available.
