Wassup! I am from the great state of WASHINGTON, so I am a fan of all pro teams in Seattle and most especially the University of Washington athletics!!! Husky sports is what I grew up loving. I'll never forget the legendary Dawgs under Don James and all the games I went to growing up.

Sark said we would get respect..we got it
Before I started blogging on here I have spent the past couple years on the college football message board on espn and let me tell you, EVERYBODY is giving props to Washington today. For years we have been an afterthought when people talk about the Pac10 and with one good game against a perennial top ten team under our new coach, WASHINGTON is back on the map. It don't take 4 years to turn a program around like we've been lead to believe, Sark and Co already have us on the road back.
We are respected again, and are on the rise. We may not have won last night and we will adjust the mental mistakes that were made, but let me tell you we competed HARD and played the brand of football that I grew up watching, HUSKY football. The kind where win or lose the other team "knew their ass just got hit" (Emtman's words)
I bark for Sark
DAWGS baby
The Big Fish
Ok hardcore recruiting junkies, it's time to make your predictions where these 2010 recruits the Dawgs are targeting will end up! I'll start with my picks but some of them are big ?? for me
Joshua Shaw-somethin tells me he won't stick with Blowhio St and might be a USC/UW battle
Demetrius Wright-depends on how his visit on 9/5 goes. He's a heavy USC lean so my guess is USC.
Troy Hill-Oregon's pushing hard but I think he becomes a Dawg
Jordon James- UCLA
Erik Kohler- UW
Nick Rowland- Cal
Hayes Pullard- UCLA
Ricky Heimuli-USC
Happy Iona-UW
Sean Parker-??? does he really have high interest in the Dawgs like realdawg is suggesting?
Dietrich Riley-UCLA
Josh Shirley-USC
James McConico-whOregon
Soma Vainuku- UW
Victor Burnett-UW
Recruiting the Rock- Hawai'i a big key to Dawg success
White sand beaches, black sand beaches, volcanoes, palm trees, tropical breezes. All things Hawai'i is synonymous for. Oh and don't forget one more thing: Great football players. It is no mystery that Hawaii has put out top players in college football for years, and many teams over the years have capitalized on the amount of rich recruits the islands foster on a constant basis.
Enter the Washington Huskies, who during our own tenure as a program have benefited from many players from the Aloha State. Players such as Olin Kreutz, Ink Aleaga, and even our current stud Daniel Te'o-Nesheim. The Dawgfather himself knew the importance of recruiting the islands, and Washington has always been a familiar name in Hawai'i for years. I frequently hear stories coming from Hawai'i about former Dawgs talking up UW to the local kids or a recruit being related to a former Dawg.
Coach Sark knows how much of a hotbed Hawai'i is, and lucky for us has a great relationship with the local high schools there, as he recruited it with much success during his time at USC. The intriguing thing about top recruits from Hawai'i is that only a few of them show up early on anyone's radar until very late in the recruiting game. (Obviously the distance can be a problem) This gives any coaching staff that enters the state early the opportunity to find undiscovered talent... diamonds in the rough if you will. Needless to say "too little too late" is not a term we will have to hear when referring to Sark & Co. hitting the recruiting trail early and hard, as they're already in on the best and little known talent in 5-0 and extending offers ahead of the Pac.
Washington, California, Hawai'i. The times that we've been most dominant in our history we had been recruiting all three of these states heavily. With Sark we will regain our prominence in the islands and keep this pipeline not just open, but a first stop for future Dawgs. I look forward to seeing more All-American athletes made at Montlake that were born and raised in those beautiful islands in the middle of the Pacific.
GO DAWGS!!
And a link to a recent story of a recruit that Sark is hot on the trail of...gotta love it
S&C Question
Ok so I posted this on Dawgman as well, just wanna get an idea about the speed of the players coming out of high school and the transition to college coaching and speed. My question-- is it safe to say that most of the guys we are recruiting will get faster when they come to UW and have real deal S&C coaching? I know under the former regime the linemen got slower but guys like Jake Locker and Flea have gotten significantly faster compared to what they were listed as in high school. If the rule of thumb is that they will get stronger and faster, I'm stoked because some of the verbal commits we have are already burners (Lowe, Carter) Hell even Nick Montana is listed as a 4.6, pretty damn fast imo. Anyways, any S&C junkies out there that can shed some light on this for me?
