Osi No Longer Allowed to Seek Trade
Thank goodness. We can stop speculating; no one has to worry about losing picks for him.
Pretty enjoyable string of 2010 highlights. Lynch and Forsett featured in the first segment, Hasselbeck and Whitehurst after that. I'm picky about my highlight reels in that I want the music to be rock, want very little interrupting actual gameplay, and want good plays rather than just touchdowns or long gains.
What music did you listen to after the win?
I know a lot of us celebrate by blaring music and rocking out excessively as I did to "You Can't Handle This" by Five Iron Frenzy and the solo of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Also, the Matt, Matt, Hasselbeck song. What else you guys got??
So I wrote this whole thing and realized one fatal flaw in it.
I got slightly depressed and alarmed after writing this thinking I had stumbled on something heretofore unknown but realized one slip in all my prognostic counting that nullified the whole idea. See if you can spot it.
Mike expresses his frustration at being just short of the goal line, yet again.
Alex Smith, give that man a banana!
Tough times in the bay area. At least their baseball team is winning playoff games. It was a highly entertaining primetime game, I thought.
Taylor Mays to start?
49ers starting safety Michael Lewis requests his release from the team; the San Fran meltdown continues unabated.
NFP punchily describes the Seahawks' Sunday surge.
Check out number eight on the list. I eat this stuff up, despite the easy coffee stereotype.
I know Power Rankings are fairly meaningless right now...
But I know a lot of us enjoy/respect Battle Red Blog and its members so it was nice seeing them slate us just above Pittsburgh in their ratings.
Paul, Pete, and Will
Interesting convergence of personalities. Plus, Seahawks may get a new, prestigious fan.
Well, I know which QB I'M going to go watch this fall.
A fairly meaty scouting report. Get yourself prematurely pumped for PAC-11 football.
2009 Grey Cup - CFL
I know, I know, most CFL players don't make any starting lineup in the NFL (Warren Moon being the biggest exception) or whatever but this game looked really exciting. I get a kick out of seeing the differences in how the game is played, too. For those of you unfamiliar with the CFL, the most notable things are that you get only 3 downs to convert, the field is ten yards longer, and receivers can get a running start on the LoS.
Tackle Will Barker of Virginia to visit 'Hawks
Here's his scouting report: http://nfldraft.rivals.com/cviewplayer.asp?Player=51025&PT=7&PR=2&type=scouting#scouting
Too tall for the Gibbs profile I think, but it's nice to take a look at what we can spend our 4ths and 5ths on this year.
Washington State restricts BPAs
Danielle Ouellette knows what she doesn't want: Eric Berry.
Mora Gracefully Repents
I found on NFL.com that Mora did the least detrimental thing he could by keeping Mare but sacrificing more face. I'm not calling for Jimmy's head, but this whole snafu I think we all really could've done without. I DO however admire that he was man enough to admit his mistake.
Oh! and no one's acting more reactionary than a Denver "fan" after a 3-0 start by cutting Olindo Mare. That's the other thing I like.

Anomaly or ordinary?
Multiple times in the Week 2 game Vs. Denver, Hasselbeck made the same kind of odd pass. Maybe this is common but I couldn't recall QBs doing this very often:
3rd and 6 on the Denver 28 in the last couple minutes of the 2nd quarter. The 3rd such of these throws. Hasselbeck drops back from shotgun then steps up when the tackles take the D-line around the back of him. He looks like he's going to run for it then bullets it to Carlson in stride. No one was pressuring him but he doesn't stop to set his feet and make a safe throw. He did this for at least two other completions that quarter. Anyone else notice this? What's the deal?
The Seattle Running Game
I remember sitting down at my computer Sunday nights after the day's games were over and being repeatedly disappointed at the score and stats for 'Hawks games (I was at school in Carolina at the time so couldn't actually watch any of them). Often enough though, there would be an uplifting bright spot in the rushing category on NFL.com/gamecenter: "Julius Jones 140 YDS", "Top Rusher Mo Morris 116 YDS."
I learned to love Mo in particular so his absence IS troubling but I'm not thoroughly convinced that we should be wringing our hands over the Seahawks' ability to run the ball - for these reasons:
