I'm the one Canadian that doesn't like Hockey. I grew up playing European and American Football in parks and backyards across British Columbia and the love of turf, large balls, and tackling has stuck with me.
Being Canadian I am a strong believer in socialized things and economic equality.

Currently I am a PhD candidate in History (I never said I was GOOD at sports) at the University of British Columbia. My specialty is counter-cultural science and the history of energy.

If you want to debate pros and cons of solar and nuclear power, the benefits of the 3-4 defense and the 4-4-1-1, or even why social welfare programs are a good idea I'm your man.

Patience young padawan, Patience

Why are everyone's shorts in such a knot? We have played four games and we have 8 points, 4 of which came on the road. That puts us 1 point back from the division lead. Yes, we played some of the...

Floyd Franks

It seems we have a new Midfilder to take Neaugen's place. Doesn't seem to be much of a scorer though. Maybe he will be our midfield hardass.

Fantasy Fun Anyone?

Hello Fellow Eighty Six Forever Readers, This post is not about the Whitecaps per say, but rather about appreciating MLS soccer in general. If you are much like me you only started paying...

Quakes recap and a question for the future.

Last night was a generally a good game, except for the absurd decision to start Brovsky at left back.  His inability to mark players in the box directly contributed to SJ's second goal.  I...

A Question of Performance: Dunfield Edition

I enjoyed watching the Whitecaps put together 90 minutes of good soccer yesterday and get their second win of the season.  With luck they can bring some of the confidence and ability on their up...

Picking Up Players

I haven't been watching the MLS long, so this may be silly question. When/How can the Whitecaps sign new players? Is there a designated transfer period? I know their roster is nearly full, but...

Tom Soehn

You have likely heard the 'Caps have moved Soehn from the office to the sideline. He was most recently your coach, can you give us a heads up on how things might change in Vancouver?

Pin the Tactics on the Tommy

One the biggest knocks on TT was his "tactical rigidity".  This criticism might not be entirely fair, TT has been dealing with absences and injuries and he has actually changed up his tactics...

Dunfield and the Gold Cup

Canada’s Roster for the Gold Cup came out today.  Terry Dunfield is the only Whitecap on it.  My feelings are a little mixed.  I’m proud that we have ‘Caps player on the national team and...

Is Teitur Tottering?

There has been some criticism of TT on the page lately and a good deal more in local media, so I think it is time to start a frank discussion about our manager.  Where do you stand on Teitur...

Hey Timber Army (I'd call you tree hugers, I'm trying to be diplomatic) A couple of fellow 'Caps fans and I are thinking of coming to Portland for the 'Caps game on the 20th of August. Can any one...

Open Season on Camilo?

Is it just me or have MLS refs declared an open season on Camilo? It seems like he can never get near the 18 yard box without being flattened.

Mascots?

I was disappointed to notice a large Blue Jay like creature in the stands at the last game.  As you can guess I don't like mascots (I'm also afraid of clowns, so maybe there is something wrong...
