Cat Scratch Reader The Ramblings

So everyone wants to look at how things are fleshing out now, but not really understanding why we are terrible.  I think I have the answer, but most people will not agree.  At the beginning of the season we released a lot of dead weight.  A good choice in my mind, let's rebuild this team and make it a yearly contender again.  Problem being, the one person who had the most heart on that offense, was the one that really had to go.  Now the Offense is groping around looking for someone to step up and take charge.  Someone, and I do not mean Steve Smith, has to grab these boys by the manhood and make them stand up.

I do not put this on Coach Fox.  If Mr. Richardson was truly worried about winning this year or the coming years he would have a contract in front of Fox before this became an issue.  When the President is a lame duck, he gets nothing done.  When the coach is a lame duck, the team suffers.  But heres the kicker.  The Defense is playing with heart and desire.  So what in the wide wide world of sports is going on, on the other side of the ball?  I can only say it this way.  Just as Mr. Richardson made John Fox a lame duck, the Panthers made Matt Moore feel the same way picking Jimmy Clausen.  And we the fans and the media made way to much of it.  I don't care who you are, you will always hear the whispers.

These are just the Ramblings of a fan in need of an answer.  Mr. Richarson, please reply.

Cat Scratch Reader Drama where there is none

I have really enjoyed this draft.  But I believe the most enjoyable part is the fact that before the draft, a vast number of people were saying that the Carolina Panthers needed depth at QB.  Now the team has actually did it through the draft rather taking someone else's hand me downs.  We now have the depth at that position that we needed and more than likely an heir apparent to Matt Moore.  I have no doubt that Matt Moore will be our starter, barring injury, for the entire season.  Unless, of course, Jimmy Clausen or Tony Pike prove to be the second coming of Joe Montana or Tom Brady.

Now that we have done what everyone said we should, there is no drama.  Oh that's right, we did to well with our selections and now we have to have a QB problem.  I'm sorry but has Jimmy Clausen taken a snap in the NFL yet?  When you answer that question, you've answered the question of whether or not there is a controversy.  I do so love the human need for drama.  Contrary to popular belief, John Fox does know what he is doing and if we lose him after this year, we will truly lose our best chance at winning.

Cat Scratch Reader A Fan's Point of View

Of course this may not be every fan's point of view but I am tired of arguing with people on the Charlotte Observer website.

#1.  If the Panthers get rid of John Fox in 2011, we will be that much further from a SB trophy. (Second one after this season.)  Fox has proven to be a great coach time and again.  When the team is completely down and out he seems to be able to get the most from all the players.

#2. Julius Peppers proved that he was not the quality person that the organization wanted on this team. (no remorse whatsoever for leaving).  I believe that once Mr. Richardson called him out to be a leader was when he began to dislike the organization.  JP does things on his schedule, no one elses. So how dare that old man tell me to step up and be a more vocal part of the group.

#3.  While it may seem harsh, the release of Jake Delhomme was a necessity for both him and the team to move forward.  He may not have been a negative force in the locker room to start off with, but the team needed to understand that there is only one leader on offense, and Jake had been that leader to long to be the backup.

#4.  Is it just me or does Pat Yasinkis from ESPN.com have it out for John Fox or what?  I blame that on the whole Bill Rosinski thing.  I have noticed that every time there is an inkling of Fox being on the "Hot Seat" Pat seems to feed the fire.

That's just this fan's point of view.
