Does anyone want to guess how many sacks we have out of our base 3-4 Defense?

ONE...ONE sack which happened in week ONE against Baltimore when Tamba got a hand on the football..Yikes! I am already expecting the flack of the AP world to descend on me, but I'm saying NT and LB more important than Safety this offseason....Huh?! As we all know, ol'Pandergast constantly switches up our formations which no doubt has led to some success, but we need a pass rush more than anything if we are going to be successful in this 3-4 Defense. I know that our secondary is in desperate need of an ELITE safety but if we don't start getting some SERIOUS rushers on the edge and inside we will continue to be in trouble. I'm not on the back to the 4-3 bandwagon but as primetime would say "C'mon Man"

Javarris Williams....LJ replacement?

In recent weeks I've seen through the every other minute mock drafts a lil clamor for a BRUISER back to complement J-Chuck in the running game...

Though clearly not close the talent level initially of the ROC...At 5-10" 223lbs Williams may provide us a stop-gap till we can draft an elite level thumper...

Williams started as a true freshman in 2005, getting 872 yards on 202 carriers (4.3 average) with four TD. He also had twelve receptions for 93 yards. He was voted to the second team All Ohio Valley Conference squad. Playing in eleven games during the 2006 season, Williams recorded 1,233 yards on 245 (5.0) carriers with 11 TD; also caught 13 passes for 210 yards and one TD. He repeated as All Conference second team selection. In 2007 Williams rushed for 1,187 on 195 carriers (6.1) with 12 TD. He also received 14 catches for 240 yards.

Strong and powerful build runner. Tight hipped inside runner. Good lower body strength and leg drive. Likes contact. A very willing blocker.

ANALYSIS: Williams was ultra-productive in college, and his versatility as a pass catcher and running back could help him catch on as a situational/third-down (our kryptonite) specialist in the NFL.

I think with some SOLID attention to Williams from the RB coach we could have a nice compliment to Charles. While he may flounder at first since he has not gotten a lot of touches in practice as far I have heard, hopefully he can come through and contribute for us while Savage and Kolby get better. Let me know what you think.

Maybe I'm just caught up in the hooplah ( I think that's how you spell it) of our big-time playmakers yesterday on both sides of the ball, but Jon McGraw to me for once did not look so lost out there going against the receivers for Pittsburgh.

McGraw made some BIG hits on the Steelers backs - 8 tackles I believe, 7 of which were solo. Can't remember if he did in this game, but McGraw lately had the knack of getting tackles for a loss. Both are around the same size McGraw being 6'3" about 210 and Lynch being 6'2" and 220. I realize the possibility of McGraw being the Pro Bowl cailber type of player Lynch was is slim to none, and I hope he will definitely be a role player in the future for this team. He is 30 and does not have a ton of years left, but I really have a feeling that we'll get something special out of the former K-State 2nd rounder over the next few years.

Could Larry Johnson become the next Cedric Benson?

ESPN's John Clayton said on Sirius NFL Radio yesterday that "more than a few teams are interested in Larry Johnson's services should he be released". As previously mentioned on here in the last few years the line has fallen apart and coupled with injuries, LJ's numbers have been pretty rocky since the 06' 1700+yd season. Let's look at Cedric Benson...26yo so a little younger. After the Bears Super Bowl run the line starts to fall apart and Benson has a bad year and coincidently gets busted on back to back alcohol offenses in a 5 week span. In turn the Bears released him and received nothing in return only to get torched by Benson last week for almost 200yds behind a decent o-line. Do we want to make that same mistake? Chances are we we will have to....but let's get something out of him in a trade given that there are other teams interested.

We should suspend him for behavior detrimental to team interest.

That would cost him his game checks and clear the roster spot (insert FA to help us) - benching him would not.

If I remember correctly he was benched last season for three games before being handed a one game suspension (October 21st....weird...maybe he's like Michael Myers (scary one) and only comes out to destroy his team then) by the League for his battery actions. Not to mention he has been accused of waving his gun at an ex-girlfriend during a fight in 2003 — which he ended up spending time in a domestic violence diversion program for — and in 2005 he had charges filed against him for pushing another woman to the ground at a Kansas City bar. Can't wait to see his new reality show or appearance on Pro's vs. Joes (remember PacMan)

Taking this into account - and may be his reaction on being benched - the Chiefs may be pulling a Vick out of this: claiming forfeiture of some of the bonus he received with his new contract.

At the end of the season cut him. As none of his contract money is guaranteed any more (a side effect of his suspension last year - the impartial arbitrator decided upon this one already) he wouldn't see another dime by the Chiefs this year - and for the rest of his life.

I guess taking his money is the only way to hurt this bum - you can't hurt pride where there is none.

IMO Kolby Smith and Jamaal Charles will hopefully be more then serviceable for the rest of the year. Let's hope one of them now gets to grab the number 1 spot.
