Are you thinking about training in BJJ?????`
Yes there a lot of detractors from this type of post. If you already train or don't have any questions skip this. This is from a guy that just started BJJ last month and can provide a Noob's thoughts on things ...It's a long read yes again but take a look.

Grappling WIth Vision Problems
So I did a small search on google without much results. My vision isn't horrible but it also isn't great. I can't wear contacts because I can't touch my eye. That being said I get to class and take off my glasses, it takes a while to adjust and even then isn't great. My question is has anyone seen anyone rolling with James Worthy type goggles or anything of the sort? I'm trying to figure out my options and yes I've considered lasik but that's another thing I don't think I'm willing to do. Just trying to figure out my options here.
Which QB would you go with?
Hypothetical question for you lot. Let's say for the sake of the argument that the Dolphins have their choice of QBs, salary, draft pick trades all equal, meaning pick your favorite and explain why. I know you guys probably don't know me as I'm more of a lurker but I've been a Fins fan since about 86 and am just as depressed about the state of our beloved team as anyone.
Ok long winded explanation out of the way, so our team has the ability to pick one of these three, I'm curious as to what the consensus is.
Landry Jones> As was written here previously in comparison to our beloved hero Marino (like it or not) a top notch qb prospect who had a bit of a bad year due to a multitude of situations.
Matt Barkley> I'm personally not a fan because of my disdain for USC, USC isn't exactly know for their quality QBs. They tend to surround the qb with a boat load of talent and it makes them look better than they actually are.....examples being Sanchez, Leinart. That being said he's being talked about as a top five pick in next years draft and has been pretty impressive in his tenure at the University of Second Choice.
Ryan Tannehill> Doesn't have a lot of starts as a QB but has shown flashes of brilliance and as it is our offensive coordinator was his coach.
This is more or less to help me settle an office arguement about which way the Fins should go. Again don't go in to account what it would take to get the player, just which would you rather have and why?
My Journey into the World of Jiu-Jitsu (LONG ASS READ)
(I intend this to be a continuing FanPost or FanShot as I’ll be running this as an ongoing blog that’s yet to be set up. Because I know most aren’t going to read the entire post I’ll repeat what I said at the end. “If you have any critiques on how I could make this better PLEASE let me know! My writing skills are not the best and as my girlfriend so kindly pointed out ‘commas are your friends’ ”)
I’ve always been enamored by Jiu-Jitsu and grappling for a long time. I followed the UFC events as much as I could and got hooked on PRIDE. While I was in college I considered joining our school’s grappling club but never had the guts to attend a meeting and see what it was all about. Fast forward 4 years and I land a job with Boeing out in Long Beach California. I started watching the UFC more and more often and read as much as I could online, I was even a Sherdogger “PRIDE elitist” at one point. I found several schools that looked promising. The one I really wanted to join was Brazilian Top Team with Marcelo Perdomo, a black belt under Murilo Bustamante one of my all time favorites. I always toyed with the idea of going down and trying it out as it wasn’t more than 5 miles from where I was living. I was always too timid and worried about looking foolish and/or getting completely worked over and I passed up the opportunity.
Fast forward again a few years later and I’m still in So-Cal but now living in Huntington Beach, literally less than 1 mile away from my apartment was Cleber Jiu-Jitsu with Prof. Cleber Luciano a black belt under Royler Gracie. Yet another amazing opportunity pissed away as I couldn’t get myself to go, even for a peek. I have a close college buddy who is about to receive his purple belt from Fabio Santos after the Pan-Am tournament (fingers crossed) that’s always begged me to get in to Jiu-Jitsu and I always just had these stupid reservations. So there you have it I had the opportunity to study under some of the game’s best for roughly 5 years and I wasted it.
Fast forward a layoff, a move to Huntsville Alabama, working a year for NASA, another layoff and landing my current job. I’ve been at my current job about 2 years and have been living in Northern Alabama for about 3 years now. Not exactly my preferred destination but I’m employed and compensated adequately. I’ve been looking a bit here and there at schools in my area. I’ll give you a hint; there aren’t a lot of choices. After talking with my buddy (the Fabio purple) and getting him to dispel most of the worries I had about it, I decided to start classes.
The school I’ve decided to join is Triad Martial Arts with Master Johnny Lee Smith. 99% of people aren’t going to know who he is, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t accomplished. He’s a 3rd degree black belt under Master Carlos Machado and rolled back in the early 90s with Rickson. Now it might occur to some of you that maybe there’s this guy in Alabama that is claiming to have all this. It was one of my first thoughts as well, partially because there is a McDojo here in town that had put up a Gracie Academy sticker on their front window. It took about a month before that sticker came down. A visit to Triad’s website shows pictures of him with Rickson in Rickson’s garage in the early nineties as well as recent shots of Rickson doing some seminars here in town.
That brings us to the current day. I sit here on my computer about 2 weeks out of training. You might be asking yourself, “Why don’t you just go now?” A valid question, I convinced a coworker of mine to start rolling with me and he’s got some school stuff to attend to before he feels comfortable starting and I’d really prefer to start with a blank slate with him. I’ve ordered a gi (Gameness Air) and I’m ready to go!
-stop reading here, if you haven’t already, if you don’t care to read a little about me-
What makes this blog interesting is that I’m WAY out of shape and pretty damn overweight. I’m going to be 30 within a month and I stand about 5’11” tall and if I had to guess I weigh about 245 or so at this point. So this should be interesting from several points I haven’t worked out on a consistent basis in quite a long while and I’m going to be documenting this on hopefully a semi regular basis from my first class. I’m an avionics system engineer so that means I sit in a cubicle all day at a computer. It’s time to change things and go have some fun rolling. Believe me when I say I’m under no illusion that it’s going to be easy and I don’t expect to be learning flying omoplatas in my second or EVEN third class, my buddy told me that’s 4th class stuff :) I don’t expect to become a quick learner or start tapping anyone anytime soon and while belt promotions are a real honor, I realize that belts only cover two inches of your ass. I’m going in with an open mind heart and soul and expect this to be a wonderful, if not hard, journey into the amazing world of Jiu-Jitsu.
If you read the entire thing, I applaud you and award you +1 internets. If anyone has anything they’d like to share tips/tricks what to do what not to do for a super beginner please feel free to let me know. As I mentioned earlier I’m not a very talented writer, so if you have any critiques on how I could make this better PLEASE let me know. I promise my following entries won’t be as wordy or lengthy, I just wanted to provide a background to let readers know my situation.
Oh and if you’re in to photography (especially lightning) check out my photo blog (in my sig)
Thanks for reading BE!

United not involved in NextGen UCL?
Anyone have any idea as to why United aren't involved in this?
Jean Jacques Machado promoted to red/black
Searched and didn't find any info (on BE) about it but on June 6th he was promoted to red/black by Rickson Gracie. Congrats!!!
Paul Scholes wins EPL player of the month for August

The "Ginger Prince" has been in fantastic form so far this year and truely deserves the award. He's on 150 goals now, a phenomenal accomplishment especially at his age to be playing like he is.
Here's a very well put together tribute to Paul Scholes, a class act on and off the pitch....

Mame Biram Diouf's surprising start to the season
Mame Biram Diouf moved to Blackburn on a season long loan to Blackburn Rovers earlier this summer to gain first team experience where he'd be working under Sam Allardyce. He received his first start in a Carling Cup match against Norwich. He picked up all 3 goals for Blackburn and saw them through to the next round of the competition. Video of those goals can be seen below.....
The One - Hat-Trick (via MouthyTyper)
After the hat trick the media started asking Big Sam if that would result in a starting spot in the EPL, Sam through down a challenge to Diouf and said his spot was not guaranteed, apparently Diof responded in training and was awarded the start along side Croatian forward Kalinic. While not being able to stop the Gooners from winning the game, he was given almost a full 90 coming off in the 81st minute. The big news though was him picking up yet another goal He's really forcing his way in to a permanent position. I look forward to Mame making me put my foot in my mouth and becoming a quality striker. While it's still too early to pass final judgement he is making waves and is off to a great start on the season!
Sorry I was unable to find an acceptable link to the goal versus Arsenal. If someone finds one, I'll edit the post to include it.
Fare thee well Rodrigo.....
Rodrigo Possebon sealed his move to Brazilian club Santos. After making 12 appearances in United red (4 of which were friendlies), United have decided to part ways with the Brazilian midfielder.
While I'll always acknowledge I didn't get to see the kid enough and don't have the brilliance of Fergie I hate to see this kid leave. He looked like a midfield maestro. According to some he apparently just stopped progressing at the rate they had hoped and that coupled with the fact that no other european club seemed to step up their chase for him makes me wonder if he wasn't getting home sick. Then again thinking back we was making steady progress up until he was put out injured when Pogatetz came in with a quite nasty tackle (which he rightly received a straight red), it put him out of action for about a month which was first believed to be a broken leg I wish him the best of luck in his future. Video of his injury and song after the jump......
Anderson dragged unconsious from car wreck
UPDATED TO SHOW PICTURE OF ANDERSON'S CAR after the wreck.
Full story over at the guardian HERE.
So apparently he was partying it up at a nightclub in Portugal and left sometime in the morning in his Audi R8 and somehow had three people including himself in the car (it's a two seat roadster). At this point it's all speculation but he might be the subject of a DUI.
I really had hopes for Anderson but this may be the final straw for Sir Alex being that Anderson is supposed to be rehabbing his ACL and ends up spending the night at a night club. I wouldn't be surprised to seem him be left off of the 25 man squad at the very least until the January. Pending the outcome of the investigation and if he was found to be drunk driving at 7am I'd say it's time to let him go. Make room for Cleverley/Ozil.
Thoughts?
Another "journalist" just doesn't get it.
Being a Miami Dolphins fan, I usually enjoy Greg Cote's pieces as they can be fairly sarcastic and amusing to read, however after reading his piece today in which he touches on Dana White going to visit the University of Miami as part of an entrepreneurial workshop......
