There was "breaking news" this morning that John Canning is stepping down as CEO at Madison Dearborn, "Chicago's largest private equity firm."

Since Canning has been mentioned as a likely candidate to purchase the Cubs, I wonder if this is any cause for believing that something is afoot.

I received an email from the Cubs today, as I'm sure many BCB readers did, announcing the hiring of Lou Pinella as the new Cubs manager.

Not Lou Piniella.  Lou Pinella.  The one-eyed spelling.

They misspelled it in the email subject, in the boldface title, in each of four paragraphs, in the photo caption, and in a link to "Get a Pinella Cubs jersey" (which takes us to the "customized jersey" order page).

This effects me strangely... it definately makes me want to brake out the digital stationary and complain, just on principal.
