Native Memphian still cast about in the city of my nature. For the longest time I was forced to celebrate the sporting teams of nearby cities like St. Louis and Atlanta. It was much easier to cheer for the Cards and the Braves than it was for the Rams and the Falcons. For some reason I could never vicariously live an NFL fan life through an outsider. That all changed in 1997. Although my hometown wasn't the best welcome mat for the transient Oiler franchise, we didn't get the fairest shake at it either. The plan was known and our college basketball program was at a low so there was no way anything else was going to get support. When the Tigers play poorly people in Memphis don't even go to the grocery store for several days let alone go pay to see an NFL team. That being said, they were still my team ... they were the "TENNESSEE" Oilers. Not the Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga or even Memphis Oilers. They were representing the whole state; one of only 3 teams in the NFL to be named as such (I assume NY is for the city). They made much more sense in Nashville and I have been in love with the team ever since first seeing Steve McNair play. He will always represent what Titans football stood for to me. Attended my first game at LP field this year ... Christmas Day ... at least I got to see a 2000 yd runner during his final games of the season. Other than Titans related: I am in Memphis based rock band Rainy Day Manual. Go check us out at www.rainydaymanual.com

Music City Miracles Owner's seem to be scoring points... waiting for players

NEW YORK -- NFL owners will pay $177 million on Thursday to complete their contributions to the player benefits program for the 2010 season.

Owner's pay out some

I expect to read a headline on ESPN.com tomorrow with something from the players talking about how this is a "scam" and an advanced form a trickery to get the public to side with ownership.  Well so far this $177 million speaks a lot louder to me than anything the players are saying.  I realize that 177 mil is only a small percentage of 6 bil and that this is only satisfying a prior legal obligation, but it's still looks nice for the owner's plight.  I honestly don't care who gets paid what at this point... i just want to see a training camp and a full NFL schedule for 2011.  What say you Titans nation?

Music City Miracles Haynes-worth less and less each day

Wow, he's got millions and millions.  He should just pay someone to drive him around and keep him out of contact with the rest of the world.

The Titans have turned an eye from traffic violations in the past (albeit they weren't nearly as aggravated) so do you think this helps move Albert back to Nashville or does it black ball him even further away?

Music City Miracles The Real Dirty Sanchez

So I'd like to know how many of you guys caught this in real time.  I'd like to give a boisterous THANK YOU to the CBS cameraman that was lucky enough to get this gem on film.  For your viewing pleasure

I wonder what kind of criticism Sanchez will receive for this hahahahahahahah omg I'm so happy right now.  Obviously he wasn't too focused on the game and the asswhooping his team was receiving.

Music City Miracles Randy Moss is a class act in Tennessee

Amidst the turmoil and shock of our team leader once again becoming a pariah, Randy Moss has an opportunity to start becoming the new leader of this team.  I personally believe he is taking full advantage of this chance and that he realizes the role he needs to play for the Titans.  I'm know it will be on the links for tomorrow but everyone should go check out the latest Titans post from Kuharsky (god i can't believe i just typed that).

I was moderately distraught after this past Sunday.  "Hurt" would even be a good description because of the emotion I have invested into Vince Young over the past 5 years.  I went to bed on Sunday and Monday not knowing what to think about this team and I honestly felt a little disconnected until today.  It would be unfair to expect our new QB to perform differently than a 6th round draft pick from Florida Atlantic should, but I realize that (once again) this team has an opportunity to accomplish the unthinkably ridiculous.

We now have a very intelligent quarterback playing with a very intelligent wide out.  That relationship alone gives me hope.  I know that has nothing to do with our transparent 3rd down defense but everything must start with the leader of the team.  Up until now the purpose of this team has been convoluted.  Was it about VY becoming a complete QB?  Was it about CJ going for 2500 yards?  Was it about the no name defense proving its worth?  I'm not certain any of those factors were bringing this team together.  As of today these players have enormous motivation to play with Dinger going through his battle with cancer.  Why wasn't the motivation there before?  I really don't know.  But there is something about taking action on behalf of someone hurting that is very special.

Randy Moss has apparently always despised pretense.  He can't perform if there isn't a synergistic respect amongst coaches and players.  In the past week this team has gone from Super Bowl prospect to gutter trash, but I think it has made this group of players very "real."  This is a very real situation and with pretense all but gone (except for the conspiracy theorists) I feel like this could be a defining point for Moss' career and for the Tennessee Titans.

Music City Miracles Offensive Line Depth

Let's say by some unfortunate turn of events we needed to bolster the depth on our oline. Do you all think the Titans would make the move on Mawae and let him play center while shifting Amano to whatever position needed filling? With the current roster depth being so unexperienced it's pretty comforting knowing that Mawae is just waiting in limbo throughout the season in case we need him (knock knock knock and double knock)  By the way does anyone have any update on Munchak's project, Kropog?  Or Myron Rolle for that matter.

This is strange. They list Kenny Britt as the starter with Washington at the very back of the lineup behind the rookies. surely someone screwed up here. still, it's not something you really want to have happen on their own website/depth chart.

Music City Miracles Nick Harper voted to my Anti-Pro Bowl

Not that anyone here would argue on this subject but this settles it for me.  I can at least set my mind at ease knowing I wasn't imagining things, looking for a scape goat or screaming at the TV all for nought.  Please take a look at this link to Football Outsiders:

Football Outsiders - Le Duh

No real surprise but hot damn... not just in the top 10 but numero uno.  And if anyone was consoled by the stat right under it for "Stops made on completed passes"  please consider that those figures leave Harper with 46 tackles after allowing for a 40 yard bomb"plays" on completed passes.  He was always good for that one tackle a game where he could sniff out a WR screen so I'm positive that's where those 16 stops come in to play.  But for every stop there was a play allowed for a TD or to set up a TD.  Thank God he is gone.  Now I can hopefully just worry about yelling at Tony Brown for offsides penalties next year.

Music City Miracles Titans in London?

The NFL announced that the 49ers and the Broncos would be playing in next year's UK game, but also noted they were exploring the possibility of adding a second game the 2010 UK schedule.  Aside from the Saints/Chargers matchup a couple of years ago, we haven't given the Brits anything too impressive yet.  49ers/Broncos could be a decent game but it could also be a 6-3 score with 300 total yards of offense.  How awesome would it be to have the Dallas/Tennessee game played in London?  If Jerry Jones wouldn't give up his home game how about Tennessee/Philly?  I imagine CJ and Desean Jackson would give them the best show to date in UK American-style-football.  If the NFL happened to look our way I'd say it's definitely worth evaluating.  Would Bud ever go for this?  What other games might work for this situation?
