Mountain West Conference to be 15-Team Conference in 2013

I woke up this morning near the Air Force Academy, as I do every morning, wishing that the following conference realignment story would have been the news of the day! First, the Mountain West...

Now that the Falcons have moved past the difficult part of their schedule it is time to start getting tuned up for their annual bowl game.  Go Falcons! ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Air Force...

Falcons Drop 59-33 Shootout to Notre Dame

1

The AFA have faced two teams that have completely dominated them so far this year.  TCU and Notre Dame.  The next game with San Diego State at home should determine 3rd place in the MWC this year. ...

Jefferson Hammers in Touchdown in Overtime To Lift Air Force Over Navy, 35-34

2

Last week's tune-up against Tennesse State paid off for the Falcons as their offense shot out to an early lead only to have Navy stage an exciting come back to tie the score at the end of...

Air Force Breezes Past Tennessee State, 63-24

The start of this game was just opposite of the start of the TCU game.  AFA was in control on both sides of the line of scrimage from the get go.  Hopefully, this game was a good tune up for the...

Air Force Academy - Bye Week Tidbits

The Air Force Falcons will be determining how they react to the stomping they received from TCU last Saturday through this week's bye in their schedule.  I'm hoping that they learn from and bounce...

Falcons Fall to No. 25 TCU, 35-19

+

I'm still in a state of disbelief!  I attended this game in hopes of seeing the Falcons get TCU off to an 0-2 record for 2011.  On the first drive of the game, AFA went for it on a 4th down play...

Air Force: 2011 Team Report

INSIDE SLANT Confidence building for Falcons, but schedule provides tough test Troy Calhoun has had so much success at Air Force, it’s easy to forget that he was still building the program. He has...

Pac-12 boss Scott a breath of fresh air for Utes

1

In other words, fans don’t have Craig Thompson to kick around anymore. The commissioner of the Mountain West Conference was the man local fans loved to hate as the physical manifestation of everything that ever went wrong with the league that the Utes (and Brigham Young Cougars) departed last month.

2011 Air Force Football Media Guide

The BCS conferences all claim that it's the weekly grind of their conference schedule that really sets them apart from the non-BCS conferences.  However, that debate has no empirical evidence to...

2011 New Mexico Bowl to pit MWC versus Pac-12

2

The sixth annual New Mexico Bowl will kick off the collegiate bowl season for the third straight year but is making a change in its line-up. The game is slated for a noon MT/2 p.m. ET kickoff at University Stadium in Albuquerque, N.M. on Saturday, Dec. 17. For the sixth straight year, the game is scheduled to include a team from the Mountain West Conference, and for the first time, a Pac-12 team is scheduled to be the opponent. In November of 2010, the New Mexico Bowl and the Pac-10 announced an agreement for the soon-to-be Pac-12 to participate in the New Mexico Bowl beginning in 2012. That agreement has been amended for the partnership to begin in the 2011-2012 bowl season. "We are excited to begin our relationship with the Pac-12 this year and to have our game showcased as the first bowl game of the year once again," said Jeff Siembieda, New Mexico Bowl Executive Director. "The Saturday afternoon time slot has been very good to us. Kicking off the bowl season in New Mexico with the whole nation watching a Pac-12 team take on a team from the Mountain West is a great opportunity for our state." The New Mexico Bowl will once again air nationally on ESPN and ESPN-HD. Tickets are available now at the University of New Mexico ticket office. Tickets prices range from $25-$40 and are available by calling 505-925-5626 or the New Mexico Bowl office at 505-925-5999. In the first four New Mexico Bowls, the Mountain West and Western Athletic Conferences squared off, with the MW winning three of four. In the fifth annual game, the New Mexico Bowl welcomed UTEP, a Conference USA member, which fell to departing MW-member BYU.
