After practicing without a helmet yesterday, Kansas City Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers' sore shoulder was feeling good enough for him to practice in full pads this morning, according to Josh Looney. That's good news for the secondary.

Here are a few more notes from this morning's practice:

  • The Chiefs moved practice indoors because of weather, which rarely happens.
  • Glenn Dorsey is practicing fully and appears ready to go for this weekend after suffering a sprained knee just before half time two weeks ago against Buffalo.
  • S Dajuan Mogan and LB Justin Rogers were both in the rehab zone and not practicing.

We'll update this post with more info as it comes in. Cincy Jungle has the skinny on the Bengals injuries.

What's everyone doing on Christmas Eve?

But as he got into his car, Haley noticed a group of fans standing outside the fence that rings the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot where the team leaves their cars for home games. "I was blown away," Haley said of the group that stood in the darkness. "We just got beat in a very disappointing manner and there’s 30 people, women, men, children, standing by that fence in the construction (area) and it’s two hours after the game. I was blown away."

Larry Johnson highlights the Chiefs and Bengals connections this week. Remember what LJ said on his Facebook page a while back about playing the Chiefs. Apparently it's supposed to rain in Cincy this weekend. Lotsa mud talk:

"Gonna gallop all over the Chiefs. Cleat prints on the chests. Mud in the face masks"

Nice guy that LJ. Only in Cincinnati is he not the biggest loser on the team. East Kansas community colleges in the house, again as well. What's in the water down there in eastern Kansas? You know, besides lead and pesticide runoff....

  • Chiefs defensive line coach Tim Krumrie was a 10th-round draft pick of the Bengals in '83. A two-time Pro Bowler, he played in 193 regular season games (166 starts) for the Bengals and was a member of Cincinnati's Super Bowl XXIII squad. He later served as an assistant coach for the team ('95-02).
  • Kansas City LB Corey Mays played with Cincinnati (2007-08).
  • Cincinnati head coach Marvin Lewis served an NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship with Kansas City in '91.
  • Bengals TEs coach Jonathan Hayes ('85-93), RB Larry Johnson (2003-09) and TE J.P. Foschi (2008) all played with Kansas City.
  • Kansas City G/T Ikechuku Ndukwe is the brother of Bengals S Chinedum Ndukwe.
  • Kansas City TE Jake O'Connell played collegiately at Miami (OH).
  • Cincinnati offensive coordinator Bob Bratowski ('78-80) and defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer ('79-80) each coached at Missouri.
  • Bengals WRs coach Mike Sheppard ('83) and associate strength and conditioning coach Ray Oliver ('83-84) coached at Kansas ('83).
  • Cincinnati special teams coach Darrin Simmons played at Dodge City (KS) CC and also played ('93-95) and coached ('96) at Kansas.
  • Bengals T Anthony Collins played collegiately at Kansas (2004-07).
  • Cincinnati CB Johnathan Joseph played at Coffeyville (KS) CC.

Anyone we missed?

Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 12/23

Happy Christmas Eve Eve, Kansas City Chiefs fans. I hope you've gotten all of your shopping done. I know I...haven't even started. Well I have, sort of.  Still need to get the Mrs. something in addition to the new puppy we're getting on Christmas Day. I would love any new puppy advice you guys have to give.

Let us know in the poll if you're one of the responsible ones who already has their shopping done for the season.

Here are your links for the morning:

Stop The Run To Win … Wednesday Cup O’Chiefs | Chiefs Football at BobGretz.com
One thing never changes about football, no matter the era. A team that wants to win must be able to defense the running game. Against Cleveland last Sunday, the Chiefs dropped passes and allowed a pair of kickoff returns for touchdowns. But more importantly, they were gashed for 351 rushing yards, more than any opponent has managed in a single game against the franchise through 50 seasons.

Arrowhead Addict | A Kansas City Chiefs Blog
Amidst all the pain it is important for us, as fans, to remember the joy our favorite football team can give us. As the season approaches I feel quite similar to how I did as a child, on Christmas Eve. Well Christmas Eve is just a couple days away and in the spirit of the holiday season I wanted to share something with my fellow Addicts.

Classic Patrick Allen over at AA.

More roster moves from the Kansas City Chiefs:

The Kansas City Chiefs announced on Tuesday that the club has signed WR Quinten Lawrence to the 53-man roster.

Lawrence (6-0, 184) was a sixth-round pick (175th overall) of the Chiefs in the 2009 NFL Draft. He has played in four games for Kansas City in 2009 and has been on the practice squad for three games. He has 12 kickoff returns for 237 yards, one carry for 16 yards and a nine-yard reception. The Carencro, Louisiana native played in 37 games (32 starts) at McNeese State, catching 99 passes for 1,905 yards (19.2 avg.) with 15 TDs. He also returned 22 kickoffs for 419 yards (18.9 avg.) and registered a 70-yard punt return TD.

The Chiefs released WR Mark Bradley on Tuesday. Bradley played in 13 games (six starts) for the Chiefs in 2009, catching 24 passes for 320 yards with two TDs. He also had two carries for 20 yards and seven kickoff returns for 123 yards. He joined the Chiefs as a free agent in 2008.

We'll have more on this later. H/T to ICTChief for the heads up.

The Kansas City Chiefs Still Can't Get It Right on Defense

If you can recall last season (or if you actually want to), you'll remember that the Kansas City Chiefs defense was plain terrible, giving up nearly 400 yards of offense to opposing teams each week. The Chiefs took it on the chin in the running game as well, ending up ranked 30th in the NFL against the run.

Unfortunately, this year isn't turning out to be much different. New coaching staff and scheme aside, these Chiefs are producing the same results on defense. I can't believe I'm typing that this year's team is worse against the run. That is just ridiculous.

In fact, Mrs. Arrowhead Pride has taken to watching the Chiefs game each week just to hear the inevitable, "The Chiefs gave up a record...." And when that happens, she laughs uncontrollably while I sulk.

To try and figure out if this Chiefs' D is worse than last year's, we're talking ranks and improvement (or lack thereof), after the jump.

Arrowheadlines: Chiefs News 12/22

Good morning Chiefs fans! This morning we're leading off with last weekend's halftime show. It's apparently a Michael Jackson tribute halftime show, with a little kid breaking down Michael's dance moves. I think they did it because little kids dancing like Michael Jackson is hilarious....

Here are your Chiefs links this morning. Enjoy.

Chiefs News Chiefs Update | Chiefs Football at BobGretz.com
Nothing boils Haley’s blood more than the dropped passes. We’ve covered the subject several times in the last few months because it has been such a big issue for the ‘09 Chiefs. It became even bigger against the Browns, when the head coach said after the game that his team had dropped nine passes. That number grew to 10 after he had a chance to watch the tape.

Chiefs’ rushing defense has been run ragged - KansasCity.com
The Chiefs dropped to 31st in the league in rushing yardage allowed at 162.6 per game, ahead of only Buffalo. The gap between the teams, once considerable, has narrowed to 3 yards per game.
