Some things I hated. . .
other than the lack of replay, Robinson's hit, the hot and cold defense, and we lost.
First, I hated the gadget plays. I don't mind so much doing something early (like we did with that wildcat play that Vick scrambled for 8) to catch the D off guard and get a quick strike, but once our offense was rolling there's no reason to throw in a gadget play. The single play that drove me the most nuts was Kafka's first full drive, we're nearing midfield after a first down, and the Eagles do an end around with Desean Jackson that nets nothing. That play stalled that drive. Why oh why didn't we hand off to Lesean McCoy. We had a lead. We had the ball. We have Lesean. The worst that happens is 3 yard gain. 2nd and 7 do it again. Now you're in a manageable 3rd down for Kafka instead of the 3rd and 8 that end around left us in. I'm still fuming over that play call. Give the ball to McCOY!!!
2 more things I hated after the jump. Alrighty, I'll throw in some things I loved too.
We might lose. . . so what!
First off, I want us to beat the crap out of the Rams tomorrow 'cause I hate the haters hatin' on my team just to be hatin'. But, the goal is not to silence the haters but to win the Superbowl. And win, lose, or tie tomorrow is going to mean little in the long run. Goal 1 is make the playoffs, whether as the 1 seed or 6. Goal 2 is win.
And so if things aren't pretty tomorrow and the haters are out in full force, take a deep breath and remember that its only September.
My keys to a great season after the jump!
What are we NOT going to get for Kolb?
So, this is my first time posting, again. But I've been reading all these posts and threads about what Kobb will net us, and I've been thinking that maybe the best way to figure out what we're going to get for Kalb would be to eliminate what we're not going to get for Colb. After the jump is my first thoughts. Please add yours in the comments and when its complete we should be able to take a look and using this process of elimination, be left with what we will get for Kawb. It's full-proof.
The Team Was Good Enough
For all you saying "we need to (do this or that) and then we'll be a super bowl team" I'm here to say our team was good enough. And not only was our team good enough to win the superbowl this past year, it was good enough to win maybe 3 or 4 times in the past decade. We can add more players, better players; that guy from Oakland everyone wants and better guys that push guys away from the guy that throws the ball--but the FO has done a pretty good job of making moves every offseason for the past decade and yet a superbowl has yet to be won.

Please. Oh Please. . .
Andy Reid, don't be predictable on offense. For the sake of your quarterback, your offense, your team, and the fans, give the ball to Lesean McCoy early and often; in the run game and in the passing game.
Please. Oh Please. . .
Mike Vick, find your mojo again. Get the ball out of your hands quickly and accurately. See the blitz, recognize the blitz, and beat the blitz. Start hot. Finish strong.
Please. Oh Please. . .
Desean Jackson, play hard every play. Give it your all. Don't quit on a play. Don't run lazy routes. (If you are about to have your head taken off you may defend yourself. You have every right to protect your body.)
Please. Oh Please. . .
McDermott, raise the great JJ from the dead. Find his body, find a miracle worker, get it done. At the very least invite his spirit into your body.
Please. Oh Please. . .
EAGLES, don't disappoint us again. Win it all. Hoist the Lombardi Trophy.
Please. . .
O-line? What about Vickie?
Yeah, the o-line couldn't block. . . the 6 guys rushing every down. Five guys can't block six, no matter how you slice it. Vick's accuracy reminded me of a former Eagles' QB and his ability to read the D was . . . like my younger brother playing Madden. He should have recognized the blitz and got the ball out of his hands quickly to the spot vacated by the blitzing corner or line-backers. A good quarterback would have burned them over and over for blitzing so many guys. Heck, we blitzed their rookie QB and he was smart enough to often get the ball out quickly. Vick took the snap and took off scrambling right away. I even saw one play where he had a huge pocket around him and he ran out of it, scared! I sure hope he gets it together for the playoffs because I'm starting to wish we'd stuck with Kolb.
I would like to think this game was our annual dud but we've only played 7.5 minutes of good football in the last 8 quarters.
Ok, I'm done. Just lay off the o-line. Vick wasn't doing them any favors by hanging onto the ball all the time.
Some things I liked. Some things I didn't.
Let's start with what I didn't like.
- Desean Jackson not catching the football. (I think he's playing scared)
- Jason Avant dancing for five extra yards on the first play of their last possession. He could have easily gone out of bounds right away. The Eagles gained 5 yds and lost 30 seconds.
- Andy Reid's decision to kick a field goal to go from down 15 to down 12. By making the decision to kick the field goal he made winning only possible by recovery of an onside kick. Fourth and goal on the 18 is highly unlikely, but even if you don't make it you're not in much worse position than having kicked a field goal. And, with Vick and Jackson, magic can happen.
- The play calling inside the Bear's 10 yard line. How many times did Vick just drop back and sit in the pocket? The Bears rush four and have 7 in coverage in what is very limited space that close to the goal line. Vick has no where to throw while Peppers and co. are bearing down on him.
So what should they have done? How about rolling Vick out? Then the pressure is on the coverage. The DBs have to decide to stay in coverage or step up and stop Vick from running. The Eagles offense made it too easy for the Bears in the red zone.
What I liked after the jump.
Kolb vs. Vick
Ok, Vick has been outstanding in his 6 quarters and Kolb vomitious in his 2. But, I want to point out that not only was there a quarterback change at halftime of the first game, there was an offensive philosophy change. Vick has been quarterbacking a 'normal' offense. When Kolb quarterbacked a 'normal' offense (New Orleans, Kansas City) he looked pretty good. But in his first two quarters of play this year he was forced to run a retarded gimmick offense.
So this post isn't about Kolb vs. Vick. That was just to get you to click on it. This post is really for Coach RetardAndy. If Kolb is your man, give him a chance to run a normal offense. When he was the guy for two games a year ago the offense didn't have a problem moving the chains, producing big plays, and scoring points. So what in the world is the stupid gimmick offense going to add? If the offense struggles to gain yards and score then try some trickery.
Nothing against Vick, but keep him off the field this Sunday. Let it be Kolb's offense. If Kolb continues to suck, then hand if over to Vick.
Amen.

Beef
Well, I watched a good portion of the game last night, but I couldn't stomach all of it. When the Eagles offense failed to show up ping pong began to interest me more. Anyways, while the offense looked out of sync and the line was once again (is there a word in the english language that fits just right?) . .. . suckwubbernuggets? My biggest beef isn't with the players, it's with the coach. Why are we running the "Donovan McNabb" offense with Kevin Kolb. Let me define the "Donovan McNabb" offense. Hike, count slowly to seven so the receivers can get far down field, then make a big play happen. McNabb could do that. Kolb? Well, not with this offensive line. So, where's the three step drop and throw? The quick passes? The seven yard completions? All the stuff Kolb is supposed to excel at? I hope they're just saving it for Green Bay. I hope that they just don't want to tip their hand to anyone. I hope (dearly) that we'll see a different offense week 1 through 17 or this is going to be a long season. We have plenty of talent. It's up to the coaches to game plan to that talent.
