Hypothetical Bulls, Suns, Raptors - Tell me where my logic falls off
Any thoughts on this? Sounds wacky, but best case scenario we get 2 of the most dominant bigs in the league to pair with rose. If one/either decides to leave = the so desired cap space.
Chi - outgoing: Noah, Hinrich, Pargo, Miller, Thomas, Johnson, Richards
Chi - incoming: Bosh, Stoudamire, Barbosa
Phoenix - outgoing: Stoudamire, Barbosa
Phoenix - incoming: Miller, Thomas, Johnson
Toronto - outgoing: Bosh
Toronto - incoming: Noah, Hinrich, Pargo
I feel like both teams would consider these trades based on the apparently large risk of each big man leaving.
Bulls Roster:
PG: Rose, Barbosa
SG: Barbosa, Salmons
SF: Deng, Salmons
PF: Bosh, Gibson
C: Stoudamire
Immediate contender if you ask me.
Cap (estimated to be at ~$54m) - Assumes max contract of $19m when resigning, Stoudamire option of $17,686,100
1. If both sign max deals - $56,019,690
2. If only Bosh signs max deal (i.e. Bulls let Stoudamire walk) - $37,019,690 ($16,980,310 of cap space)
3. If only Bosh signs max deal (Stoudamire takes 1-yr option) - $54,705,790
4. If Stoudamire takes his 1-yr option, Bosh leaves - $35,705,790 ($18,294,210 of cap space)
5. If neither re-sign - $18,019,690 ($35,980,310 of cap space)
Seems to both accomplish our goals of increasing our chances of signing a (or two) marquee free agents. Also, Might be more plausible than wishing for Wade/Lebron. Finally, if we decide not to keep Amare, and he signs a deal elsewhere, we might (i think) have enough cap room to sign another top free agent (Johnson, Gay?) while keeping Bosh (and offering him more than anyone else).
Drew Gooden and Larry Hughes
I think it's fair to say that Gooden and Hughes represent the two major problems with this team. After watching tonight's OKC game, think about how much time they spent on the floor at two logjammed positions.
Hughes: Even with Sefalosha out tonight, Hughes' is a constant blackhole on offense. While he makes the occasional strong transition move, more often than not, the ball is moved around the circle only to be stopped at Huges who tries a pathetic move in order to get space for an ill-advised shot. He offers no help to the quick Derrick Rose offense that Vinny is supposed to be implementing. His name and contract are dictating that the Bulls use an overly-complicated and inneficient rotation.
Gooden:He is taking time from Thomas. Give Thomas 18 shots, and he'll find 18 points. Gooden's first half shooting, which must have looked something like 2-12 from the field, from excruciatingly frustrating offense. He too is a black hole. I'm tired of the ball moving back and forth, only for Gooden to recieve it, stop, hold it, cross it over and take a jumpshot. This is the exact same concept we hate on Thomas for. The difference is, Thomas can pull it off better and is actually a threat to drive. Until he leaves, Thomas can't possibly get a chance to play as a real PF in this league.
I hope the 40 minutes both guys played tonight are signal for a trade, and Vinny was just showcasing them. Because they are the reasons we lost tonight. Them playing 40 minutes put us in the league of OKC. And if you watched the game, it's hard to complain.
Bulls fan here, 3-way trade proposal
Hi everyone, I'm a Chicago fan from BlogABull, where we've been running too many trade proposals over the past few months.
Nevertheless, I have one that a lot of people have found interesting. When I emailed out Bulls beat reporter, his only qualm was that he felt the Kings were slightly shorted.
Here's what I am proposing as an initial template for the deal (I'm looking for Sacramento feedback an idea of your mindset).
Here's my initial proposal:
CHI gets:
Odom
Kenny Thomas
SAC gets:
Nocioni (very good small forward, slightly large contract tho)
Gooden (1 year left on deal)
Farmar
LAL gets:
Hinrich
Artest
Now, I've heard that the Lakers have this love affair with Farmar, but because the contracts in deal like this are so large, the 125% rule makes this deal easily amendable. You could interchange Farmar and Fisher without a problem too. Also, of course picks and such (like the Joe Smith exception) could be exchanged to sweeten the deal, but at least its a template for a deal.
Is this something you guys would be even the slighest bit interested in? if I offered the choice of any of the following (I kno some are retarted, but I'm just trying to provide some options):
Drew Gooden, Andres Nocioni, Kirk Hinrich, Larry Hughes, Jordan Farmar, Derek Fisher, Luke Walton, or Trevor Ariza
Is there a package in their that you guys like? It seems to me that all 3 teams here are dealing with the issue of trying to trade guys whose stocks are all low (ie artest is a headcase in the last year of his deal), so they seem to match up well then.
Let me have it, lol.
Chicago - La Lakers Trade?
I'm just throwing this out there, but it seems relatively fair to me.
Chicago trades:
Kirk Hinrich
Andres Nocioni
LA Trades:
Lamar Odom
Coby Karl
I know the Lakers were frustrated by Odom in the finals this year and are looking for some defensive toughness to surround Kobe with. Nocioni and Hinrich seem to fit the bill. This trade works under the cap rules while Kirk is still in his BYC. Players and picks could obviously be added, but I think the core of this deal makes a lot of sense for both teams.
