so last week I did not forget about doing this.  In fact, I did not do it on purpose.  For anyone that knows Scruffy or myself, we are very superstitious.  You sit where you were sitting when we scored and do no move.  If you are wearing a Branch jersey and he gets hurt, that jersey is banned.  Etc.  I am trying here guys.

So I am at the point in a bad season where I am looking back at the Ram's and Niner games for things I did and not doing when we lose.  I am superstituoous..whatever.  I am deciding that when I was watching these games it was sunny and nice enough for golf outside those two sundays.  That is long gone now for me as we have had rain and fog and death cold.  So in the abscence of golfing weather, I will be golfing.  DVR will be running.

Sunday was a hard day for me.  I will be perfectly honest that I did not watch last weeks game.  I also did not allow myself to watch the Red Sox game.  I literally had friends take me golfing so I would not watch both of the stresses in my life.  I golfed well fyi.

Onto the 49ers.  I mocked  them in our first take, and I feel that we may need to change the scope of this hawk posting.  Reverse psychology if you will.  So from now on no more mockey of women falling on tables, BrianL's fear of Pennywise, and no more "wtf is a 49er" jokes.  I give you this:

None of us saw this coming.  It opened so sweet.  Forsett was doing awesome, everyone minus Branch and Engram were healthy.  We had Mike Wahle.  Burleson.  Sims.  Seems like such a long time ago.  It was sooo serene.

What a difference two weeks makes.  I was feeling like I did right before we took on the winless Saints last year.  What if we were to lose to at the time the 2nd worst team in the NFL? 

Phew.  Anyone doubting this game should go back and watch the highlights from last week.  Serious.  The pulls, the push off the line, the blocking at the next level.  This was not us beating a bad team by letting them lose.  We destroyed them.  We had the correct game plan, and we executed it well.

What do i think will happen this week?  I think the same.  This is not me being a homer, but when I watch the Giants they always let the other team take it to them and react.  If you go look at the game stats for the Redskins (another WCO) vs. the Giants week one, you will see that it was rhythm that was the downfall of the skins, and the skins let the Giants win instead of the Giants beating them.  I can see us completely dominating this game on every aspect. 

The Giants beat the Rams soundly and escaped Cincinnati in OT.  I sure hope Holmgren has figured out how to win on the east coast.

Yes it's true.  Linehan is fighting for any means of saving his job.  Heck saving?  If the guy wants to work again in the NFL he needs to do something drastic.  This is not like Lane Kiffin needing to win.  Lane Kiffin is a good coach on and off the field.  Linehan is a joke running an abysmal team with few bright spots.

Bulger completed only 52 of 89 attempts for 519 yards in this first three games, but pass protection has been the big problem. He's been sacked 11 times. Bulger is only 19 games into a six-year, $65.1 million contract signed in the summer of 2007.

This sounds like a good deal for a back up.  Kenji Johjima is in the wrong line of work.

With his longtime offensive coordinator Al Saunders running the Rams offense, Green decided to sign on to be the Rams backup. Now, heading into Sunday's game against the Bills, Green will be the starter.

This  isn't actually a bad move.  If the rams focus on good pass blocking to give Green the time to throw it could help out.  I think this could boost the numbers of Randy McMichael and whomever their #2 receiver is.

So we all know why Holmgren didn't put Forsett back on punt and kick returns.  Well it looks like thats exactly his role in Indianopolis.  I for one am at a crossroads on this.  I want the best for the guy, but I also want him on this team.  Damn it. 

Claimed off waivers from Seattle earlier in the week, the rookie running back is expected to handle kickoff and punt return duties Sunday when the Indianapolis Colts meet the Minnesota Vikings in the Metrodome.

"It's something I've been doing for a while, so it's not a big adjustment,'' Forsett said Friday. "I've just got to catch the ball and learn the different plays we have.

"It's a pretty simple scheme and one that's worked.''

Forsett, the Seahawks' seventh-round draft pick, has only moderate experience as a kick returner. He returned only 10 kickoffs during his four-year career at California and six for a 23.5-yard average for Seattle during the preseason.

The Colts apparently like Forsett's potential enough that they waived Courtney Roby on Thursday. The former North Central High School and Indiana University standout averaged 20.5 yards on five kickoff returns against Chicago.

Now, I am not one to pee on someone when they are down.  But their starting OLB Crowell is now out for the game, and after reading Buffalo Ramblings, the back up Ellison is apparently our Babineaux.  Just not good. This should make Ray's day somewhat easier.  Put Heller next to Ray and we can run this direction the whole day.

Now recent word is that their starting and lone stud linebacker Posluszny rolled his ankle yesterday and is hurting too.  If Pos can't be as attacking with a bum ankle, we can double team Stroud with no ill effects.

So for those of you new to the blog this season, this is something I have done since the inception of this blog which allows you the fan to choose whom you feel will have the most outstanding impact of the game.  The MVP of the game.  The stud in your muffin.  The French Vanilla in your coffee.  So for example:

Since when did Al Roker turn into one of the California Raisins?  Good god man.  

Anyways, sorry for that.  After I watched the destruction of the Lions, Jets, and Falcons - I wanted to watch another one.  The Hawks vs. The Rams.  I am really excited to see what this team can do running on all cylinders, and I feel that this game will really be dominated by a sound run game set up the pass.

So I am 4-0 on weeks that I post these.  Thats kinda cool.  Even though I know it has no affect (effect), screw it, change on the game.  

You all know the drill.  Guess at whom you believe will have the biggest impact on the game, his stats for the game, and the final score.  

Also, something I want to point out.  Why do we have sport teams called colors.  Browns, Reds, Blues, etc.  And what the f is a laker?

I got a major issue this week in terms of rooting for my Hawks or rooting for my fantasy team.  

In recent history of our Hawks, I have made some poor moral decisions.  The first, was having Davenport for the Steelers game when he had two scores, and the second was when I had Reggie Bush in for the sunday night game.

Here is my problem.  I am leading the FGOI and I want to continue the winning ways, but I have done so with Derek Anderson as my QB.  Do I start him and root for both teams offenses or do I sit him and go with Alex Smith vs ATL?  Ideas?  Suggestions?  

I first of all want to thank Scruffy for picking up in my absence and return to the 20th century of a world of no internet, crap tv, and no cell phone service.  Now on to something that is also returning to form.  The hawks winning.

It's time to choose your hawk for breakout player of the game.  The cream of your coffee.  The one who takes us to the next level.  Playing good football.

My Hawk is............heck, Beck?  No.  Mebane?  I want to say yes, but not this game.  I think the man who gets back into the W column is Josh Brown 4 fg, and the last being a winner.  The rams are never easy.
