Please join Barry Zito, Sally Zito, Omar Vizquel, Raquel Aurilia, Jeff Austin Black and the legendary Eddie Money -- as they join together for a night of music on Thursday, May 24 at Ruby Skye in San Francisco to benefit Barry Zito's Strikeouts For Troops and The Giants Community Fund. Renel from 98.1 KISS FM will serve as the evening's host...

Thought some of you might be interested in supporting Strikeouts still, even though Zito is no longer an A, he is still doing Strikeouts events and helping to give back to the community so if you're able, it'd be great if you can donate or show up to support a good cause. I know a lot of the A's players (like Swisher, Ellis, and so on) are still participants in the program. I can't make it to the event this time but I went to the last 2 and they were lots of fun. I will definitely be at the next 1! :) Here's more info if you're interested in going:

"On behalf of Barry Zito, we invite you to join us for the second anniversary party of Strikeouts For Troops!! Please visit www.strikeoutsfortroops.org, then click on the SFT Giants Jam logo and it will take you to the site to purchase tickets!

We appreciate your support from day 1 of Strikeouts For Troops and we certainly hope to see you on May 24!

Thursday, May 24
Ruby Skye, San Francisco
5:30-7:00 p.m. - Sponsor VIP Reception
6:30 p.m. - Doors Open
7:00-10:00 p.m. - Concert

Renel from 98.1 KISS FM will serve as the evening's host!

There will be a live and silent auction and raffles throughout the night with a chance to win great prizes including a guitar autographed by all of the Giants All-Stars.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Strikeouts For Troops Foundation and the Giants Community Fund. Hurry, tickets to this exclusive event will go fast!

Attendees must be 21 years and older. I.D.'s will be checked at the door.

About the Strikeouts For Troops:

Strikeouts for Troops was founded by Barry Zito in 2005 to provide "comforts of home" to our wounded troops and help for their families, while they often face a long recovery process while at numerous hospitals such Bethesda Naval, Walter Reed, Brooke Army, San Diego Navy, and other military hospitals throughout the country.

The non-partisan, non-profit foundation has raised nearly $500,000 in two years from donations made by 35 professional baseball players based on their on field statistical achievements, fund raising events and fan donations. 100% of funds raised goes directly to assist our injured soldiers, their children and families."

learning to use a camera...

I'm not a photographer by any means. before a couple years ago, I mostly used Polaroids and disposable cameras. but after getting a couple bad digital cameras, I invested in an okay Canon one and proceeded to try and learn how to take pictures. I ended up falling in love with taking pictures and taking pictures of baseball seemed like a good next step, so I gave it a try. I posted a lot of (but not all, I took A LOT) of my pictures from the '05 and '06 seasons at flickr and if you'd like to view them, I'm posting the link here. :)

preview:

VIEW ALL MY BASEBALL PICTURES HERE :)

they were not edited/retouched or cropped or watermarked or anything. just as is. but if for some weird reason you want to use one, just ask and I'd be happy to let you, with credit. :) just please don't steal or use them without asking, thank you.

my favourites are the interleague pictures from San Diego. Ron Flores batting really was a picture taking moment haha.

unfortunately, my camera was stolen :( so I'm no longer able to take pictures until I can save up for a replacement someday. I feel like I'm missing an extension of my limb without my camera at the end of my right hand, so it was a tough break. anyway, hope someone enjoys the pictures! they aren't really reflective of my favourite players (Bradley, Ellis, etc) but more so the taste of my friends who ask for pictures.

if anyone wants to use this diary to post pictures or links to their own baseball photography, that'd be cool, too! :)

On the official website it says that each "Countdown to Opening Day" radio show will be available on the website. I can't seem to find the podcasts anywhere! am I the only one? I'd really love to listen to them. sorry to waste a whole diary about it but I'm sure there are probably others who want to know, too. thanks :)

I'm new here and I hate for my first post to be this one, but I could really use some help. I was wondering if anyone who gets FSN Florida could record "Inside the Devil Rays: Scott Kazmir" for me, either on the computer or on VHS or DVD? I live too far and am not able to see it. Please contact me (christine@envail.com) if you would be willing to help. Thanks so much. :)
