Turf Show Times A Dolphins Fan's Perspective on Jeff Fisher

Thumbnail_aspx_medium

via ts4.mm.bing.net

Greetings Rams fans. I made a couple of comments in a previous Jeff Fisher story and your own Douglas M asked if I would be willing to write this post and give you guys a Dolphins fans perspective on why the Jeff Fisher should choose to coach the Miami Dolphins and why he would be a better fit in Miami than in St. Louis. So, before I get started, let me also just say that the Rams are my second favorite team and anything I say in this post is not meant to bash the Rams, but simply to give you guys the opinion of a Dolphins fan as to why Miami would be a better choice for Fisher.

We have all seen the various rumors and news reports from a multitude of people and their "inside sources close to the situation" that say what Fisher is asking for and which way he is leaning. I'm not going to go into all of that because almost all of those points have been beaten to death. What I am going to do is to go over the pros that the Dolphins present to Fisher, at least from my perspective as to what is a pro. So, without further ado, lets get to it.

Big Blue View Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Giants fans from the Phinsider! Willgfass was kind enough to put up an "Ask a Giants Fan" post over on our site, so I thought I would come over here and reciprocate in case you guys had any questions for us.

So if you have any questions about the Dolphins for us, fire away and myself or other members of the Phinsider will be more than happy to answer them as best as we can. We are playing pretty badly right now, and we are strongly in the hunt for the #1 overall pick in next years draft, but if you had anything specific you wanted to know, we'll try to answer them.

Good luck on Sunday and here's to a good and injury free game.

Gang Green Nation Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Jets fans! It is that time of the season again where our two teams go head to head, once again on Monday night. So, I thought I would come over and see if you guys had any questions for us Dolphins fans about your opponents this week.

This one ought to be an interesting game. You guys are coming off a 3 game skid and probably quite ready to take out some frustrations. And the Dolphins, well we're still trying to figure out what the #@%! is going on with this team.

So if you guys have any questions, feel free to ask away and we'll answer them as best as we can. And I know that we often get into heated arguments, but we will try to keep everything civil. Our head writer Mosul has already warned people over at the Phinsider to not come over here to troll or start trouble with you guys, so hopefully we can have a good football discussion between fans of the game, even if we do root for rival teams.

Here's to a good game and hopefully one without injuries to either side.

Dawgs By Nature Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Browns fans from the Phinsider. Since our two teams will be playing each other this coming Sunday, so I thought I would drop by and see if you guys had any questions you wanted to ask about your opponents this weekend, the Miami Dolphins.

Curious about how our offense is looking with our addition of your former OC Brian Daboll? Wondering why our defense is sucking so much after being so strong last year? These questions and more we can give you answers to. Well, not the defense one, we're still trying to figure that one out ourselves.

So if you guys have any questions about the Dolphins, fire away and either myself or other members of the Phinsider will answer them for you as best we can. And here is to a good and injury free game!

Battle Red Blog Ask The Phinsider

Greetings from the Phinsider! It's that time of year again where our Miami Dolphins are getting prepared to face the bane of their NFL existence, your Houston Texans. After our Week 1 games, I'm sure that people have a bunch of questions for both teams.

So I thought I would drop by and give you guys a chance to ask the Dolphins fans any questions you may have before our two teams meet on Sunday. So if you want to know what the hell happened with our defense on Monday night, or what's going on with Chad Henne, or what my favorite breakfast cereal is (it's Lucky Charms), then here is your chance to do it.

I'm looking forward to your questions and either myself or some other Dolphins fans will be around to answer them as best we can. Here's to a good and injury free game!

The Falcoholic Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Falcons fans from the Phinsider! With the pre-season game between your Atlanta Falcons and our Miami Dolphins coming up shortly, I wanted throw this up here to see if any of you guys had any questions for us about the Dolphins this year. I know it's kinda short notice, but we'll do the best we can to answer any questions you guys got.

So if you've got any questions, ask away and myself or others will try and answer them as best we can. Between us losing both our starting running backs from last year to what in the hell is going on with our QBs, I'm sure there will be a few things you guys might want to know.

Here's hoping for a great game!

Silver And Black Pride Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Raiders fans from the Phinsider! I didn't see that one of these had been created yet over here so I thought I would get one started and Screwfish was nice enough to start one over at our blog.

So you all know how this works, if you have any questions about the Miami Dolphins ask away! Myself or some of our other Phinsider posters will be around to answer your questions as best as we can.

Here a couple of answers to start things off:

1. Jake Long has a good chance of playing this Sunday. He suffered a dislocated shoulder against Tennessee and still played against Chicago last week. He has been at practice and has said that he will do everything in his power to play this week.

2. Chad Henne may be back at QB. Tyler Thigpen started last week for us as Henne had a knee injury, but from what we are hearing, Henne may be back for us this week. While he is not as mobile as Thigpen is, he has a much stronger arm.

Oh, and please rec this to keep it near the top. Here's to a good game and hopefully no more injuries!

Turf Show Times Pics from the Bruce ceremony.

Hey Rams fans, as I mentioned in a post a while back, I had gotten season tickets to the Rams this year and was able to go down onto the field for the Isaac Bruce retirement ceremony. I said that I would try to get some pics to post up here for you all, so here are some of the ones that I got.

Sorry that some of the pics are a little blurry, there were a lot of people jostling us trying to get pics and some of them didn't turn out as well as I hoped. Here are some of the better ones I got, hope you guys enjoy.

Acme Packing Company Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Packers fans from the Phinsider! With next week's game between the Pack and the Dolphins approaching, I thought that I would throw this up here to see if you guys had any questions about the Phins. And I know this is a little early in the week for this, but Miami is coming off of a bye week and frankly, I'm starving to talk some football.

So if you guys have any questions about the Dolphins this year, ask away. Myself or some other of the Phinsider posters will try and answer your questions as best as we can. And if you guys would like to make a similar post over at the Phinsider, go ahead. I'm sure we have plenty of questions that we would like to ask you guys as well.

Good luck next Sunday (just not too much) and here's to a good and injury free game!

Pats Pulpit Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Patriots fans from the Phinsider! We're coming up on our first meeting of the season and I thought that I would put up a Q&A post over here since SMP made one over at the Phinsider.

So if you have anything about the Miami Dolphins that you wish to know or want to get an opposing fans opinion on something, ask away. Myself and my other Phinsider cohorts will answer them as best we can.

After our tough home loss to the Jets yesterday, the Dolphins are going to be looking for a win, but they don't have it easy facing the always troublesome New England Patriots. It ought to be a good game and will definitely be fun to watch. So fire away with your questions and we'll meet on the field next Monday!

Buffalo Rumblings Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Bills fans from the Phinsider! The start of the regular season is finally upon us and what better way to start it off than with a good old divisional rivalry? Now I don't know if Brian and Matty are going to do a Q&A post like they did last year, but I thought I would put this up for you guys to ask any questions you may have that they don't get to. Besides, I really enjoyed these posts last year and wanted to keep it going again this year.

So if you have any questions about the Dolphins that you want to ask, fire away! Myself and some other Phinsider posters will be around this week to answer them as best we can. And I'm sure that we have some questions that we would like to ask you guys as well, so feel free to make a similar post over at our blog.

By the way, you got a pretty good TE in David Martin. He may be a little older, but he was always reliable and was a fan favorite of many of us. Here's to a good game!

Battle Red Blog Fantasy Football question

Hello again Battle Red Bloggers! With the NFL pre-season kicking off this weekend, that means that everyone's second favorite football related activity is also getting ready to start, fantasy football. I'm in a couple of leagues this year and have a draft coming up this weekend and another one in a couple of weeks. So I had a few questions that I wanted to ask you guys about some Texans that I might be looking at taking.

Obviously, Andre Johnson and Matt Schaub are going to be hot commodities in any league, but I did have a few other players that I had some questions about to help me get my draft strategy figured out.

First off, what is the latest on Owen Daniels? I had him on one of my teams last year and he was doing great for me until he got hurt. I haven't been hearing much about him during the offseason, has he been practicing during training camp or is he still in the process of healing and rehabbing? If he has been practicing, how has he been looking so far? Has he been looking like his old self or has he seemed to be struggling a little bit from his injury?

Next, how has your RB situation been looking? I remember you guys were having some problems with the RBs fumbling last season. Do they seem to be doing better in that regard so far? And how would you rate them as far as if I should consider taking them as a starter or a backup?

And lastly, are there any other players on the Texans that you feel could be a good sleeper pick for me in the later rounds?

Thanks in advance for the answers and as always, F the Titans. We will do our damndest to put a beating on them for you in week 10.

Bucs Nation Ask the Phinsider

Greetings Bucs fans from the Phinsider! I did these kinds of posts last year during the season, and got a generally positive response so I thought that I would continue with these this year. With our two teams getting ready to play each other in week 1 of the pre-season, I wanted to create a thread where you could ask any questions you had about the Miami Dolphins. So, if you have any questions about how the Dolphins have been looking thus far or how our new players are doing with the rest of the team, fire away. Myself or some of the other Phinsider posters will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

Feel free to post up a similar thread over at the Phinsider, I'm sure there are some questions we would like to have answered by you guys as well. Good luck and here's to a good, injury free game!

The Phinsider I've Got a Fever: We need more posts edition

So we've had some news to talk about lately, and between Chad Henne's comments about the second coming of Christ Tim Tebow, the rumors of Denver willing to take a 2nd rounder for Brandon Marshall, Richie Incognito signing, and whether we should or shouldn't take a NT with the 12th pick, we've had a lot to debate about. We've seen posts springing up like Nicky at the mention of Spiller. So you might be wondering what makes this post different then all those others? Well my fine Phin friends, the answer is quite simple. This post is going to have all of these topics together for one giant Celebrity Deathmatch style mega debate. Well, not really, but we were joking around in CKC that we should make another post about one of these topics because you can never have too many of them. Right? Guys? Beuller? Ok, fine then. Be that way. Follow me after the jump for some more shenanigans, hijinks, and tomfoolery.

The Phinsider A Mock Draft for Fun

So I'm bored at work today as all of my current projects are on hold at the moment, so I thought I would post this as something kinda funny as a break from all the serious draft talk. Before I get into it, I have to give full credit for this idea to BigBlueIntervention from over at Mocking the Draft. He put up a post about this last week that I thought was pretty funny, so I thought it might be interesting to see what kind of results I got.

The basic premise is what the 1st round of the draft would look like if the 32 top prospects names were randomly pulled out of a hat instead of each team picking their own players. Since I am at work and not allowed to wear a hat, I assigned each player a number and used a random number generator for the picks. Hell, it can't be any worse than letting Al Davis make everyone's picks. This is just for fun and in no way serious, I just thought it would be a good change of pace while we wait for the draft.

The Phinsider A possible TE upgrade?

Ok, I'm not wanting to create yet another ridiculous offseason trade idea to throw around, but I happened to see this while perusing other blogs. Apparently Bears TE Greg Olsen is unhappy with Chicago's decision to bring in Mike Martz as their OC, and is going to ask to be traded. Here is the article about it on Windy City Gridiron.

Is Olsen someone we should consider trading for? I know we have discussed upgrading the TE position on here before, which is why this caught my eye. Now, I don't watch many of the Bears games so I don't really know too much about Olsen, so I thought I would ask you guys to see what you thought. Here are some of the stats I found on NFL.com for him:

Greg Olsen

Age: 24

Height: 6'5" Weight: 255

2007(rookie year)

Catches: 39 Yards: 391 Avg: 10.3 TDs: 2

2008

Catches: 54 Yards: 574 Avg: 10.6 TDs: 5

2009

Catches: 60 Yards: 612 Avg: 10.2 TDs: 8

Just to compare, here are the stats for Owen Daniels in his first 3 years (not counting last year since he was injured for half of the season):

2006(rookie year)

Catches: 34 Yards: 352 Avg: 10.4 TDs: 5

2007

Catches: 63 Yards: 768 Avg: 12.2 TDs: 3

2008

Catches: 70 Yards: 862 Avg: 12.3 TDs: 2

Anyways, I wanted to get the opinions from you guys who know a little more about Olsen and have seen him play, as stats can only tell you so much. So what do you guys think, is Olsen worth looking into for a trade? Nothing is official yet, and I didn't see in the article what the Bears might be asking for him if this ends up happening.

Apparently Hampton is close to coming or has come to a new deal with the Steelers. Guess that's one less free agent NT available.

**UPDATE** The Steelers have posted this up on their website now, so I guess that makes it official.

The Phinsider I've got a fever. And the only prescription is.... more Jets losses.

Ok, time for another edition of I've Got a Fever. This time it's not going to be a list like the last one, but I'll be bringing up a few things to talk about.

To start with, this issue's recommended listening is in honor of the Jets getting their butts handed to them by the Colts. So, to celebrate the fact that we no longer have to listen to Rex Ryan telling everyone in the world how awesome his team is, here is Lacuna Coil doing a cover of Enjoy the Silence originally by Depeche Mode.

Battle Red Blog Question on Owen Daniels.

Hey guys, I was looking over the list of free agents this offseason, and I saw that Owen Daniels is going to be a restricted free agent this year. I would love to see him as a Dolphin next season, so I thought I would come here and get some info from you guys. I was wondering if you guys could tell me what his status is with the Texans.

Do you guys think that he will be re-signed by Houston? Or that he might get slapped with a franchise tag? Or do you think that the team might listen to offers for him? If that is the case, what do you think that Houston would would want for him, either in draft picks or in other players? I figured you guys would be the best place to come and get some more insight into how the Texans are thinking about going.

Thanks guys!!

The Phinsider I've got a fever. And the only prescription is more free agents.

Ok, so I'm gonna try and start doing a semi-regular post here, looking at various things during the offseason. For this first one, I thought I would start off with a look at free agency and who all would be available for the Dolphins to pick up. Now I won't be taking any of the draft class into consideration for this, and I will try to keep my opinions on the free agents out of this as well. This is just to show allof the options the Dolphins have available and I'll let you guys discuss it in the comments. And all of these free agent discussions will be assuming that no CBA will be reached, and that to become an unrestricted free agent the player will need to have 6 years in the NFL.

Greetings Texans fans from the Phinsider! I thought I would create this post to handle any questions you guys had about the Miami Dolphins with our game coming up this Sunday. This will be a big game for both teams trying to keep our respective playoff hopes alive and maybe more so for us since we've never beaten you guys yet. So fire away with your Dolphins questions and we'll answer them as best as we can. Please rec this so it can stay on top for week while we get ready for Sunday, and here's to an injury free game and good luck! But not too much, I'm sure you understand. =)
