FSU offers Eric Dungy
Eric Dungy sets visits, gets FSU offer
Posted on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010 at 10:56 a.m.
Plant DB Eric Dungy, who came on strong toward the end of the Panthers’ 2009 state championship run, is being rewarded for his efforts.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound standout will make official visits to New Mexico and UCF, Plant coach Robert Weiner said today. The bigger news, however, might be that Florida State has pulled the trigger.
"They’ve offered him a gray shirt," Weiner said.
If Dungy, the son of legendary NFL coach Tony Dungy, picks FSU, with the grayshirt he would not enroll until Jan. 2011. Petey Smith of Armwood grayshirted with Alabama last year and has since enrolled at the school.
Eric Dungy told the Times in December that FSU was his childhood favorite.
Additionally, Dungy has received strong interest from Oregon, Weiner said.
As a senior, Dungy recorded a team-high five interceptions, to go along with 61 tackles. As a WR, he caught 24 passes for 340 yards and two touchdowns.
