What has to happen for Curry to fall to the Bengals

While I agree that Oline is the most pressing need, I have made it no secret that I think Curry is a strong enough D-playmaker that if he falls to 6th the Bengals MUST take him. SAM LB is still a long term need on this team and pairing the playmaking abilities of Curry with the solid technique of Rivers would make the LB positon a strength of the team for the first time in the Marvin Lewis era.

Unfortunately Curry is going 3 in almost every mock and on SportsCenter this morning it was reported that while the Lions were in contract talks with Matthew Stafford, the Lions frontoffice has agreed on a plan to draft Curry #1 overall if they don't reach an agreement with Stafford by draft day. Probably just a strategic leak to scare the Stafford camp......but you never know.

Anyways, I have come up with only 1 reasonably possible scenario in which the Bengals can land Curry at #6

1. Lions - Matthew Stafford (very likley)

2. Rams - Jason Smith (also very likley)

3. KC - Eugene Monroe (this is obviously the key pick, it has been pointed out that while Curry is a natural SAM 4-3 LB  KC runs the 3-4 which might be a concern. They also are in the market for an OT)

4. Seattle (or SF) - Mark Sanchez (this also isn't very likely as SEA would gladly take Curry if he fell to 4 but they do like Sanchez. If SF trades for the pick we might be in luck.

5. Cleveland - Michael Crabtree (they could trade Edwards for picks and take Crabtree here)

6. Bengals - AARON CURRY

I give this scenario about a 10% chance, in any other situation we take A. Smith or one of the top 2 OT's if they happen to fall.

Bengals Sign J.T. O'Sullivan

After taking the first few days of free agency off the Bengals are now in overdrive signing yet another freeagent in backup QB J.T. O'Sullivan according to a NFL.com blog http://blogs.nfl.com/category/adam-schefter/

I've heard he has a strong arm which will be a refreshing change from the weak armed Fitzpatrick. On the sad side we can't start a "F*** it i'm going deep" fan club now that Rex Grossman is out of the picture. However as TheWalrus1971 pointed out it does open up the possibility  of an O'Sullivan's sports bar in Cincy.

Moving Ahead

The latest injuries are really hard to swallow, especially on the heels of other young defensive building blocks like Johnathan Joseph and Keith Rivers already out for the year. This was an important year for fostee rucker and it looks like next  year may be one for geathers to see if he can ever match his production of 2006.
