Cash-strapped CU, rejected by the likes of Mike Bellotti, decided to reconnect with its past by bringing in former star and assistant Embree, overlooking the fact he's never been even a college offensive coordinator. Nor has his new offensive coordinator, former Buffs star Eric Bienemy. Another CU great, new defensive line coach Kanavis McGhee, most recently coached at Gannon (Pa.) University. In his recent mailbag SI's College football writer response to a reader's question hit a nerve: Question: "So Ohio State will pay Colorado-a major BCS program-$1.4 million to lose a game in Columbus. You must have something to say about that." Answer: "Yes. Apparently even Ohio State wants to buy out Dan Hawkins." It will be nice when we're no longer the butt of jokes for national media. Hopefully we start to turn things around this season. Go Buffs.
