"A new low" is how my friend put it.

My friend who maintains season tix at Mays Field passed along this email from the Giants. I wish I could say that this is a joke.

I hope you will all refrain from making "Omar Vizquel" comments in response.

///////////////

AT&T Park, the home of your San Francisco Giants, will be the site of the "Aflac Presents Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular," starring musical guest Barry Manilow on Wednesday, December 5, at 8:00 p.m. PT.

The show, set to Manilow's Music of the 70's album, which was released today, is choreographed by Renee Roca, two-time U.S. ice dancing champion. The December 5th performance will also be taped for future airings on NBC and The Style Network.

"Aflac Presents Brian Boitano Skating Spectacular" will be the first ice show ever held at AT&T Park. The two-hour performance will take place on a 60' by 120' ice rink constructed on the ballpark's infield. In addition, this unique event benefits George Mark Children's House (www.georgemark.org), which opened in the Bay Area in March 2004 to provide an important addition to the continuum of care for children with serious and terminal illnesses and their families.

Joining Olympic Gold Medalist Boitano and international music icon and performing legend Manilow will be Olympic gold medalists Dorothy Hamill, David Pelletier and Viktor Petrenko as well as world and Olympic skaters, including world champion Yuka Sato, two-time U.S. pairs champion and Olympian Jason Dungjen and eight-time British champion and Olympian Steven Cousins. In addition, ice acrobats Vladamir Besedin and Oleksiy Polishuk will perform.

As a Giants Season Ticketholder, your early window of opportunity to purchase tickets for the event begins TOMORROW, September 19th at 10:00 AM and ends on Tuesday, September 25th. Prices are as follows and include applicable taxes and charity donation component:

Field Seating - $152.25 - General admission field seating in a "lounge-like" atmosphere

Club Level Seating - $67.25

Field Club and Lower Box Seating - $55.00

To purchase tickets and to view a layout of the seating areas, please click on the link below.

We hope that you are able to be part of this one-of-a-kind event!

Giants Ticket Office Weasels

Earlier this year I picked up 4 Club Level Infield (face value $62/each) tickets for me and some friends for the Tues. 4/11 game vs. Houston. This game was rained out and my friends and I were unable to attend the scheduled make-up game. I was told that I would be able to exchange these tickets for tickets of similar value to a future game this year.

So I went to the ticket office on Tuesday, to try and exchange these tickets for the Friday 9/8 game vs. SD. I know that they charge more for weekend games and I was prepared to pay for any difference; in fact, I was reminded of this by the gentleman who helped me before he looked into the exchange. This gentleman was able to do the exchange at no extra cost, telling me that we were getting a deal, since Friday games are priced higher than Tuesday games. I was very appreciative and thanked him for his help.

But when I got back to my office, I noticed that these new tickets were for Club Level Outfield seats. Even though for a Friday night game, the face value of these seats is $4 per ticket less than that of the tix I traded in.

I called the Giants to see what could be done, and was told that they will not refund the difference. They told me that they were essentially doing me a favor by getting me a Friday night game and that the difference in face value is immaterial.

So I can either hold on to the tix I have (and eat a $4 per ticket premium) or try again to exchange the tix for a Mon-Thurs. game, for Club Level Infield seats.

Whatta pain in the ass, whatta bunch of weasels.

Well it's not really capitalism if I don't make any $ on it, right?

I feel sleazy posting this, and I apologize in advance if this is is a little out-of-line (especially I've not seen solicitations like this here and since I don't post here very often). But I have 4 tickets to Thursday night's Asstros-Giants game that I can't use. Club Level 222 (behind Giants dugout), Row E (5 rows up), Seats 9-12.

Please let me know if you're interested, and apologies again for this sleazy post!
