How about this trade?

The Spurs just made a huge trade for Richard Jefferson, it got me thinking that they are obviously in a win now mode with Manu and TD in the twilight of their careers.

How about us offering Marcus Camby to them for Roger Mason (potential glue guy), Matt Bonnar (another energy guy off the bench), their two second rounders (can draft some euro prospects or maybe one of the PGs who fell out of the 1st round or a Wayne Ellington/Danny Green type) and a future 1st rounder pick (maybe 2012 or 2013, the Spurs might be rebuilding by then). Both Mason and Bonnar's contracts expire this year so no harm done to our cap space.

Our front office values Kaman over Camby right now, which I think is the right move given their respective ages. I just noticed an opportunity for us to pick up some value future assets and a potential glue guy.

Decent article about the things we've discussed here. Mainly what we are going to do with all our bigs, what options we have and such. I thought the analysis of the pros and cons of each big man was well-reasoned.

Is anyone else psyched up for next year? I wasn't going to renew my season tickets but the team got lucky and sucked me back in by getting the 1st pick.

Cavaliers

Rumor is if the Cavs can't land Rasheed Wallace for 10m/2years then they could be after Zbo. We can get back Big Ben and Pavlovic's expiring deals if we also throw in Ricky Davis. This is essentially addition by subtraction. Big Ben might retire, and I think if he gets traded to us for sure he will retire. Getting rid of Ricky is good for team chemistry. Pavlovic is a solid role player, he's young and playing for his next contract, he could possibly even be glue guy and if he isn't, well the damage is mitigated with his expiring deal.

New Depth Chart

SG - EJ, F Jones, M Collins

PG - Baron, M Taylor

C - Kaman, Camby, DJ

PF - Griffin, Camby

SF - Pavlovic, Thornton, M Collins

Wizards

They are rumored to be moving their 5th pick for immediate help. We can trade them Kaman and our future Minnesota 1st round pick for the 5th pick and matching contracts (Songalia and Etan Thomas for instance). We could draft a young PG prospect for our trouble.

What are some other deals out there that would work for us?

Off-season Wish List

I thought it would be nice to put together a list of things each player should do in the off-season to improve. Some of these guys might not be back due to contracts or trades but for now they are still on our team right now.

Baron Davis - Try PX90.

Chris Kaman - Try hypnosis/sacrificing virgins/voodoo to manage his ADD and lift his injury curse.

Marcus Camby - Pack his bags, he's moving on to bigger and better things.

Zach Randolph - Lay off the bottle, eat a salad once in awhile and hire a driver.

EJ - Ignore phone calls from ZBo, Baron and Ricky late at night.

Thornton - Watch lots and lots of Scottie Pippen tapes.

Ricky Davis - Get a medical prescription for marijuana.

Steve Novak - Work on a go-to celebratory move after draining a 3. I think blowing on the tips of his fingers could work for his "Shooter" image.

DeAndre Jordan - 1000 jumpers before breakfast, 1000 hook shots before lunch, 1000 turnarounds before dinner, 1000 bank shots before bed.

Fred Jones - Sign a contract for the minimum.

Mike Taylor - Work on his Tony Parker impersonation.

I just saw this on Hoopsworld. Evidently we have the 3rd most ping pong balls (we have 177 as opposed to 178). This is important because now we can fall to as low as 6th in the draft as opposed to 5th being the floor.

http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=12310

I thought they flipped a coin did we miss this event. Somehow I get the this ominious feeling that this does not bode well for us.

Yogi Berra once said "It ain't over till it's over", well thankfully for us it finally is over. This has been a very very trying season for anyone with any ounce of emotional attachment to this "team". I use the phrase "team" loosely as there has been only flashes of any real teamwork throughout the year which certainly played a major role in a team that failed to win 20 games for the year. For those of you who have managed to stick around in our most disappointing season in recent memory (possibly ever) I commend you for your loyalty.

So tonight's game was very interesting. Before tipoff we found out that the Wizards had lost to a Celtics team that played without their big three and were clearly resting their players for their playoff run. This left Clipper Nation in a dilemma, a win would dampen our chances of obtaining the one no-brainer pick in the upcoming draft while a loss would prevent us from reaching the pathetically low-standard 20 win season. Without question a loss would be more beneficial to our team in the long-term but isn't the essence of sports to compete on any given night no matter the stakes? Karma, professional responsibility a myriad of things would suggest we should play the game as if it meant something, if nothing else to show some level of appreciation for the fans.

Well, fortunately (or more likely unfortunately) such notions of self-respect and pride do not apply to our current roster. The Clippers played as if the season was already over. When there were loose balls to be won the team chasing them was the team already up 20+ points. Ironically, today was fan appreciation day but it appeared to be such in name only. No one in their right mind would say the team appreciated any of the fans that came out during the deepest recession of our lifetime, cheered a terrible team throughout the year only to see a team allow themselves to be blown out by another lottery bound team by FORTY-ONE points on the last game of the season at home. The boobirds (including me) starting raining down boos by the end of the first half when we were already down by 20+ points.

As always, the only bright spot on our team was our rookies, Eric Gordon quietly put together yet another efficient offensive performance (10-15 fg for 22 pts total) and Mike Taylor made a half-court shot at the end of the third quarter. Aside from that the rest of the team was hardly identifiable as NBA players.

The highlight of the evening was Mike Dunleavy getting ejected in the 3rd quarter when we were already getting spanked. Most of us can only hope the team makes permanent. Another painful fact is that we lost every quarter of the game by no less than 8 points. It would take far too much time to layout everything we did poorly tonight and only seconds to describe what we did well but tonight showed that a team that plays with energy and enthusiasm will prevail against a listless team of unprofessional players playing for themselves (or perhaps nothing).

When I asked to write the recap I had hoped that it would be after a Clippers win to close out the season and that karma would dictate that we would get the 1st pick in the draft as a reward for doing the right thing. I was even foolish enough to bet money to support that fact. Now with less one Ben Franklin in the wallet, I can only suspect that this franchise and this team (not the faithful fanbase) does not deserve any good that comes to it as they have done nothing to deserve any such reward this season. I leave you with this quote from Shawshank Redemption that I think succinctly describes our predicament, "Hope can drive a man insane. It's got no use on the inside". I don't know how we all landed on the inside but I do agree that this hope thing will eventually drive me insane.

It was a pleasure agonizing over the internet with everyone all season and I hope to see many of you around in what will be my contract year (FA in 2010 baby!) next season. I'll see some of you at the annual draft party.

Best,

So you are at the draft, your family and friends are sitting at the table with you in the green room waiting for your name to be called. You've practice hard, dedicated countless hours honing your game and your minutes away from fulfilling your childhood dream. Then the commissioner calls our your name and you are now officially a professional basketball player. You are getting acclimated to your new situation when the analyst announce that you've been traded in a draft day trade to the Los Angeles Clippers. Do those tears of joy you experienced just minutes prior turn to tears of sadness? Did you win the lottery and then find out you have to split the prize with 12 other winner? Do you circle a date on the calendar when your rookie deal runs out? Of all the teams in the league, we have to be near dead last in player enthusiasm and that's tough to do when we are in Los Angeles. Thoughts?

Here's an excerpt.

"Now, Starbury takes a deep breath and starts on his way to the Boston Celtics. Deep down, he’s terrified. Somehow, Starbury has to summon Stephon. That’s a big problem for him now, because Stephon Marbury knows better than anyone that Stephon Marbury is a loser."

Ouch. Baron might be a fatty, but I don't think we've called him a loser yet.
