I heard that the Clippers used to practice at the Spectrum but I thought they had a little more privacy than this.

Just imagine working out at the gym trying to get rid of those pesky love handles (from watching all the games at the local pub) and having some guy ripped up like Corey Maggette working out next to you and then realizing THAT it really was the actual Corey Maggette working out next to you and not some doppleganger.

Anyways, here's the link: http://www.fannation.com/si_blogs/for_the_record/posts/9981

The '09 Clip Show has a new cast of characters ... and we do mean characters. Boom Dizzle and The Cambyman are joined by Ricky D and J-Will plus rooks Gordon and Jordan. This is going to be really fun or a complete disaster. The movie "Semi-Pro" comes to mind. | Offseason Moves

Oddly they put us behind both the Dubs and the Nugs. With Monta out and the fact we got Camby free i'm a little puzzled as to why we are ranked behind them.

Evans just reached a deal with the Hawks (reported 3 years for 7.5 million). Wondering why we didn't make a similar or slightly better offer. The FA talent pool is very very shallow now. With only Hart, TT and Gordon off the bench at the moment we are in need of 1-2 rotation guys badly. They don't have to be super talented but should be willing to fit into our schemes.

Guys who could help us:

Earl Boykins - Good role model for EG, he's still instant offense off the bench and with Kaman and Camby on the court it can make up for his defensive liabilities.

Devin Brown - Pretty strong athletic wing with experience on winning teams.

Devean George - Good defender, can hit open jumpers. Has been on winning teams.

Eddie Jones - Cagey old vet, can still be productive with limited minutes.

Theo Ratliff - Can still block shots, good backup for Kaman and Camby.

Kareem Rush - Lights out shooter, could use him to create more room for Kaman to operate inside and for Baron to penetrade the lane.

Kwame Brown - Solid defender and rebounder

Bonzi Wells - Good rebounder and post scorer for a SF. Can probably sell him on the fact we can play him alot more than his last two teams (HOU and NOR)

Gordan Giricek - Tough hard-nosed vet, terrific backup for Mobley and Thornton.

Darius Miles - Total unknown, what harm is there really.

We could use any 2 of these guys as we have very very little on our bench right now.

Thoughts?

Warriors Match our Offer

Warriors decided to keep Azubuike. Somewhat of a bummer as he looked like a good piece.

Couple of quick ideas. Offer Mo Evans 2 years 6 million. Almost the same amount the Warriors offered him for 3 years. We keep the flexibility for 2010. Also isn't Jason Williams (the light version) a FA? He would be a solid backup PG. Maybe offer him 2 years 6 million and sign a guy like Kareem Rush to the minimum.

Since there's been alot of time to think and reflect the past week I thought it would be fun (and a little bit depressing) to think how the Clippers could have built a dynamic squad since 1995.

1995 Draft - We drafted Antonio McDyess who would go on to be a very good player before injuries. Instead we traded him for Rodney Rogers and Brent Barry. Not a horrible trade and it did net us our first ever All-Star game trophy I believe (Barry won the dunk contest). We did pass however on Rasheed Wallace, Kevin Garnett and Jerry Stackhouse. If we had drafted KG I think its safe to say our last 13 years would have been a little different.

1996 Draft - One of the best drafts in history and we end up with Lorenzen Wright. Put it this way, the 6 guys picked before him became All-Stars... some guys who went after? Kobe, Peja, Nash, Jermaine O'Neal and Illgaukas. So close, yet so far.

1997 Draft - A very shallow draft (only about 10 of these guys are even still in the league), we actually did okay in relative terms by picking Mo Taylor. We got a PF who didn't rebound or blocked shots but he did give us the 1 finger salute.

1998 Draft - This one hurts... we picked Kandiman (although in our defense he was considered by many to be a top flight prospect at the time). We passed on such luminaries like Vince Carter, Antawn Jamison, Dirk Nowitzki and Paul Pierce. I wish the Clippers would've traded down and drafted the local kid (Pierce). Oh well... Ce La Vie as a Clippers Fan.

1999 Draft - Good old Lamar Odom... only problem was Lamar was a stoner at the time and couldn't put down the bong. He gave us hope though, the only better pick available was Marion. Not much the team could've done in this draft.

2000 Draft - D Miles!!! While we barely won any games, we did have one of the coolest dumb celebrations ever for a few years. When I look at Josh Smith I then remember D Miles and wonder what could have been. Anyways, this was the worst draft ever IMO so we did pretty well in this draft. We were able to get Andre Miller (for one season) for Miles which at the time was pretty exciting for us.

2001 Draft - Best Clipper Draft ever... because we traded our pick for an established young big. He would go on to cure cancer and establish world peace before stabbing the Clipper Nation in the back with a rusty machete. Now Tyson Chandler is looking pretty good.

2002 Draft - We picked Chris Wilcox (at 8) when Amare Stoudamire (at 9) was available. A bit puzzling consider Wilcox played the same position as our best player at the time. We also passed on Caron Butler (10th) which only adds more suffering. I wish Elgin used Agent Zero's method of flipping a coin to make important decisions. One of these days it will land right for us.... right?!?!?

2003 Draft - Probably the best draft ever and we come out of it pretty well it turns out with Chris Kaman. We avoided picking the FElton clone (Mike Sweetney) and with the possible exception of David West there wasn't a better pick after Kaman. This cancels out the Kandiman pick (as we drafted Kaman since Kandi was leaving).

2004 Draft - Ahh... we are cursed. We pick Shaun Livingston who was looking like the real deal before he blew out his knee. If you truly care about the Clippers you should convert to hinduism or buddhism because we are owed alot of karma. I liked a healthy Livingston over the guys picked later (Deng, Devin Harris, Josh Childress, Andre Iguodala, Biedrins, Al Jefferson and Josh Smith... maybe not Kevin Martin) but obviously now the others seem better off. It hurts a little bit more just because we traded down from 2nd (which would've been Okafor) to save money (a smart move, we had no need for another PF).

2005 Draft - Ok... maybe being cursed is our fault. We see Danny Granger on the board... we love Danny Granger... but we pick Korolev? Oh I get it... we picked him so he could teach us how to play Russian Roulette. Seems like a good out for a Clipper Fan.

2006 Draft - What happened to our draft pick in 2006? I forgot what we did with it? Did we give our pick away for Tim Thomas... I'm worried now.

2007 and 2008 are TBD although Thornton and Gordon look like keepers thus far. I would have preferred Bayless over Gordon at the time (No Baron) but it looks like Gordon will be pretty good too.

Flame away!

Does anyone know if this annual deal will still be offered this year ( 2008-2009)? Now that the Clippers should be pretty good I'm guessing alot of people will be buying tickets this year. I usually see the coupon in the Clippers magazine (the coupon book) for the buy one get one free special (for certain sections). They really should have a discount program for long suffering fans, its only fair after all the years of losing.
