Denver Stiffs Denver Stiffs Bracket Madness!

So, I've decided to make a fanpost about this, and I decided to create the annual Denver Stiffs Tournament challenge this year for the Stiffs, if they'd like to participate! Last year the winner won a Denver Stiffs T-shirt, so perhaps Nate or Andrew could throw in a prize for the winner this year? I've decided, like last year to have the Tournament challenge on ESPN again, because of course we are most familiar with their tournament layout.

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Is Kenneth Faried destined to be better than Nene?

We've seen glimpses of the rookie out of Moorehead State college. He is exactly what we've expected and more, for better or worse. However, he does seem to be destined for something much more than what some people predicted he would be - namely that he would be the next Reggie Evans - yet we know that there is only one kind of ball that Kenneth Faried is after, namely the basketball. Yet he has shown things and done things that remind me of a slightly shorter, yet actively faster, incredibly more athletic stronger and higher jumper than Nene, our starting "power forward" at the moment.

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Is Ty Lawson T.J. Ford 2.0?

As Charles Barkley once said, "I didn't even know he was still in the league!" T.J. Ford came out of Texas University as the No. 8 draft pick, he was a little undersized, but he had dashing speed which would enable him to play pretty well in his first season. His athletic ability alone enabled him to get up and down the court with blazing speed. However, as mother nature progressed, Ford regressed. He is now a backup and tiny contributor to an otherwise solid Spurs team, averaging just 4.2 points per game and 3.8 assists. Despite the fact that he is only in his seventh year in the league, Ford has lost the zip on his speed and is now only a below average point guard because he can't play in a half-court set very well. Is Ty Lawson doomed to follow a similar path?

Nuggets coach George Karl did admit his doubts in the Portland version of Fernandez.

"I saw some cuteness," Karl said, "but I didn't know he kind of understands the game of basketball a little bit like a point guard. He sees the game as a playmaker. I saw his cuteness, but I didn't know his habits were pretty first-class."

"He has the knack to find the open man," Karl said. "In American basketball, they read the defense after they catch it. In European basketball, they have a tendency to make the read before they catch it. I like the read before you catch it."

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Gallo is a future all-star

Hyperbole: Exaggerated statements or claims not meant to be taken literally.

How often have we heard the claim "you need an all-star to win the championship"? How often have we been fed this spoonful of non-researched garbage from the media? We always hear from pundits who haven't watched a damn game of the Denver Nuggets, unless it was against the Miami Heat or the New York Knicks.

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Polar Bear Dilemma

No, this is not a discussion on what is known as global warming, but merely a discussion I think many in Nugget Nation are torn on. We have two big, white, stiff centers on the roster, and one of them should be the starting center.

This position is obviously our main weakness this season. However there are two guys here who have the potential to be really good centers in this league. They are the scratch-off tickets of the Denver Nuggets, and they are Timofey Mozgov and Kostas Koufos.

One-time NBA star Dikembe Mutombo has made a worldwide name for himself sponsoring humanitarian projects and noble causes in his native Africa, so it was only natural that two State Department officials would meet with him in November 2010 as part of his effort to bring more attention to the bloody trade in conflict minerals that has bedeviled his homeland, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Less than two weeks later, according to a U.N. report, Mutombo was in New York on a more personal cause — trying to interest a Houston oil executive in a $10 million deal to buy 1,045 pounds of gold from the mines of eastern Congo, the heart of the conflict mineral trade.

Harrington is shooting 70 percent on two-point shots and has emerged as an improbable Sixth Man of the Year candidate, though the award remains James Harden’s to lose. Unlike some of the other guys on this list, Harrington isn’t hitting an unsustainable number of long two-point jumpers. Of his 24 spot-up chances this season, all but a couple have been either threes or drives to the rim, according to Synergy Sports. He’s crashing the boards a bit harder, something he’ll have to do as a power forward (or even a center!) in George Karl’s small lineups.

The bad news: That two-point shooting percentage is going to come down, though Harrington figures to do better than his current 30 percent mark from deep. Also, he has been a total black hole this season, averaging less than a single assist per 36 minutes. On nights his shot doesn’t fall, Harrington is going to have to find other ways to contribute.

My fan-fiction Nuggets Jersey, Away Jersey.

Any ideas or requests, I'd be happy to comply.

I thought of taking various shades of gold from the Nuggets history, but there is not enough variety sadly in different shades of yellow of the Nuggets organization. So I figured I'd take the various shades of gold brown in the 90's jersey, and make them appear as the middle of the sky line. Then below that would be Golden yellow, to give off the impression that the middle brown is "dirt" and the yellow below is gold. Then I thought of putting blue shades on top of that to appear as sky.

I was disappointied with the results I came out with, but if anyone has any other ideas for different skyline colors, I'd be happy to hear as these are the same I used for the home jersey. I used the bright blue as the main color, found in the DN logo in the 2003-2006 logo. If anyone has any other ideas for that, I'd like to hear them.

55-1

My fan-fiction Nuggets jersey, customized by me.

The top is black, to give the Jerseys a nice sharpness. I took various Shades of blue from Nugget logos and jerseys from different eras for each rainbow stripe. The top is a color I found in the Nuggets logo from 2003-2006. The one below is the current nugget jersey color. Below that, is the blue used in the 1973-1979 Jersey with the miner in it. After that is a shade I found in the new logo. Then the last and darkest blue is the dark navy found in the 90's to 2003 Jerseys. I replaced the yellow in the original jerseys with a Gold yellow found in the 2003-2006 logo which says D N.

I took the green suspenders and replaced with a white one to give it a less random look. I'm thinking of possibly removing the Denver on the shorts and replacing it with the current symbol. If anyone would like to throw the idea at someone in the organization, possibly Andrew with his connections, I'd be very happy even if it was just an amusing grin at the pictures and nothing more.

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Center

I must break you, griff man.

For the first time in a long time we have a 7'0+ man in the center position. In fact, we have two now! Who may it be you ask? Well I'll tell you.. hailing from Russia, and standing at 7'1 is a machine. He has the city key to every town in Russia and has pictures of Blake Griffin all over his room, with a bunch of darts in them because to him, Blake Griffin was the destroyer of the Russian golden boy a long time ago...

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Power Forward

George Karl sips his Chocolate rose tea, closing his eyes and listening to Beethoven. For him this is a peaceful moment, no disturbances to be had this day, no this is a day for tranquil relaxation. Ty Lawson practices his Ballet, a hobby that Karl indicated to Lawson will help his driving to the lane tremendously. All of a sudden, as Karl refreshes his third favorite website in the world, DenverStiffs to get any update on their two free agents, a earthquake emerges.

A large pound is heard on the door. It's thunderous echoes can be heard throughout the building. A sniffle, and then another pound, "BOOM, BOOM" as the pounding continues, sending the room into a shiver. What could be the cause of this? Another strong pound, louder than before... this door is not safe, only safer. It can not be mistaken anymore as the beast ravages to get in. Before it is realized, the door falls flat to the floor, and a shadow emerges. Standing 6'10, with a bulk found only in Himalayan Yeti's appears a beast, not just any beast but a Brazilian beast, and he is ready to feast. Hair can be seen flying over his head, an indication that perhaps this is one of those Predators seen in B rated films starring people like Danny Glover. No, what lies ahead may just be more dangerous, this my friends.. is

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Small Forward

132409443082268_medium

This is the Rooster defensive position, obviously Lebron is not used to such an effective tactic.

The Denver Nuggets, since the trade of Carmelo Anthony last year, were touted as a team with a lot of talented players, but none who seemed to fit into the go-to type that most teams strive for, especially in the playoffs. So despite our strong depth, the "Experts" said that since we did not have that all-around all-star who can score 23-30 points a game every night, that we would falter in the playoffs. It turns out they were right, but however.. there is reason to believe that Danilo Gallinari will be that all-star for us this year, why do I believe that? Like Neo in the Matrix film, it is a matter of faith and a jump...

Do you believe Gallo can excel as the Go-To Man on a competitive team?
Yes, he has the tools, he has the drive, he has the all around game.

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Shooting Guard

Afflalokobestopper_medium

Yea Kobe, he has been on our minds as well.

So, I am just going to assume, for the following article that it is a 100% certainty that Arron Afflalo will be joining us next year and that his return is only dependent on the agreement to which his contract will be and the finer print, I don't think that many teams will overpay for him, and even if they do the Nuggets will most likely match because we still have the payroll we need to match and since there is no player left to give that money to that is worthy, I'd imagine it will be Afflalo.

Poll
Who should be our starting shooting guard?
Rudy, I mean.. this guy is an offensive threat who can create his own shots and help Gallo out a lot!

How dare you.. Afflalo has proven himself worthy of the starting position and is better than Rudy by far.

Denver Stiffs Cloudy Notion: Point guard

132400992399601_medium

With hits such as, "A Hazy shade of Lawson", and Miller's sentimental "Homeward Bound" (his house you see, is in Denver, even while playing in Portland) One can expect for this year's pointguard duo to be one of the most contrasting, contradicting and solid point guard duo's in the league.

Denver Stiffs The Nuggets shopping list

So I have thought about what the Nuggets really need, and what they really need is a power forward, and let me tell you this,  that it is not Kenyon Martin.   The Nuggets weakness, and which has been for the past 5-6 years is rebounding, so take the jump with me as I examine who should be the Nuggets starting power forward next year, along with possibly the next starting center.

Denver Stiffs "I go where the sound of Thunder is" Nuggets - Thunder preview

We now know who our first round opponent is,  and I believe everyone sort of knew it was going to happen, but we are going to play the Oklahoma city Thunder in the first round of the playoffs.   This could be our first, or last round in the playoffs, depending on your views and whether or not you are a pessimistic person, or a optimistic person.  The Oklahoma City Thunder have been playing more back to backs than any team in the league since the all-star break however, and should be a little tired come playoff time, especially with how many minutes Westbrook and Kevin Durant have logged in this year.   In the following article, I am going to do my own personal breakdown of the series, and why I believe that the Nuggets will prevail in this series, and why it will be the must-see opening round playoff series of this years playoffs.

Our Nuggets have been sizzling hot since Melo has left, going 18-6 since the trade occurred,  however the Thunder have been even hotter since the trade deadline and dumping the weak link in their arsenal that was Jeff Green, and updating their roster with big bad Perkins.  So how in the world do our Nuggets stand a chance against a team with such depth and talent?   It's simple,  beat them fire with fire, so now without further ado,  take the jump with me,  where those with arachnophobia should steer clear, and the brave souls to endear the long journey through Mordor with our courageous team to finally be rid of the ring and.. whoops, wrong story, we are trying to get a ring, well anyway,  that is not the point, come take the jump!
