What will the Seattle Seahawks do? Separate sources told me today the team hopes to move out of the 12th slot and trade into the later portion of round one, where they will then draft linebacker Donta Hightower.
Madden 12 Seahawks ratings out.
Link (Note that these rosters are post draft and pre-free agency so Hasselbeck and Tatupu are still on the team and Rice, Miller, etc. aren't. Also note that the ratings may very well change in the first roster update prior to the season) I know at least some of you play the Madden series, so I thought it'd be fine to take a look at a few of the ratings: First of all it's interesting to note that the Seahawks have no 90+ overall players on their roster, they're the only team with their player ratings revealed so far that doesn't. Their highest rated players are Tatupu and Mare who are both 88 overall (Zach Miller is 89 overall but isn't technically on the roster).
One of my biggest gripes is that Earl Thomas, despite his great season last year, is only rated 82 overall. That's lower than Hasselbeck, Lawyer Milloy, Jon Ryan, BMW and others. It's six overall points lower than Eric Berry who arguably didn't even have a better year. Meanwhile, Okung is only rated 83 overall despite the fact that when he played last year, he absolutely dominated the competition.
In other news, none of their draftees look very good either. Carpenter and Moffitt are rated a respectable 76 and 74 respectively, but none of the other drafted players are nearly that good. In order of ratings: Durham, 64 overall, Maxwell, 63 overall; LeGree, 59 overall; Levingston, 57 overall; Sherman, 52 overall. Malcolm Smith, it seems, doesn't even exist in the game. Basically the rest of those guys outside Moffitt and Carpenter are absolutely useless in the game and, again, it's somewhat irritating to see the lack of actual research put into the ratings by EA. I know I'll end up buying the game anyway though. I know that the ratings don't make a huge difference, but it's still frustrating that EA doesn't put the research into making the better Seahawks p
Russell Okung's ankle injury for the Seahawks isn't too bad. Early thought is that he could be back in two weeks. No high ankle sprain.
No Hard Knocks on HBO this year.
I know some people, including Danny Kelly, were hoping that it would happen and focus on the Seahawks this year, but apparently it's not going to happen. Maybe next year.
NFL crafting free-agency rules for 2011
Verrrrry interesting. Wonder if the 8th Circuit has informed them that the stay won't be granted or if they're just preparing in cause it isn't...
League may completely shut down operations if they lose their appeal
(And to emphasis the "may") . Ugh. Stop trying to find your little loopholes, owners.
CBS, Gus Johnson part ways.
Couldn't agree on a new contract. Obviously this sucks. Fox or ESPN or something needs to hire him right now.
The Times has officially confirmed the commitment of Jeff Lindquist to UW.

Peter King: "Seattle wants to trade down so bad from 25 that John Schneider can taste it."
Thought this was interesting. King doesn't list a specific source, and I don't know how accurate he usually is with his information, but we've all talked about the Seahawks trading down so it is definitely interesting.
Results of latest MTD mock draft
Instead of posting this way down in Danny's post about it, I'd thought I'd just post the results in this fanpost. Yeah, yeah, I know that mock drafts don't matter, but it's still interesting to discuss, no? ; ) Anyways, onto the picks:
1 (25). Jake Locker, QB, Washington
2 (57). Christian Ballard, DE, Iowa
4 (99). Shareece Wright, CB, USC
5 (156). Derek Newton, OT, Arkansas State
5 (157). Denarius Moore, WR, Tennessee
6 (173). Keith Williams, G, Nebraska
7 (209). Martin Parker, DT, Richmond
7 (242). Jermale Hines, SS, Ohio State
Justin Rogers, CB, Richmond
Justin Ridnt, DE, Wisconson-Stroud
Taylor Potts. QB, Texas Tech
J.T. Thomas, OLB, West Virginia
All in all, I think that'd be a pretty good haul for the team (oh, and before you ask, Jimmy Smith and Mike Pouncey were both gone before #25 and Dowling and House were both gone before 57. I also had a preliminary trade with the 49ers to trade out of the first but it fell through).
Seahawks award only one compensatory pick. 7th rounder.
Ugh. I don't know how they calculate that but it's just dumb. Seriously, only a 7th rounder? #241 overall? Yeah, that's valuable. Baltimore got, like, five picks or something. Who did they lose?
Seahawks waive Nate Davis.
Yeah, um, hey Schneider? You gone crazy? I wonder if this means, for certain, that they're going to draft a QB in the first couple of rounds. They honestly can't go into the lockout with having Whitehurst as the only QB.
Titans name Jerry Gray D-coordinator
I see how it is, Jerry. :/
Rocky Seto hired as UCLA defensive coordinator
And another coach bites the dust. Luckily Seto was just an assistant. Curse you anyways, UCLA.

Why they signed another offensive-lineman, I'll never know.
Seahawks-Buccaneers moved to 1:15 PST
Well....it's closer to primetime!
Hawks waive Clifton Geathers
Okay then. Bobby Engram time?
Week 14 coverage map
Heeeeeeey, Brian Billick again! Time to mute your TVs, everyone! Huzzah!
McDaniels fired
I don't know why this is so hilarious but it is. You suck, Josh.
Heater signs 1-year extension
It was actually signed on Saturday, but I guess we're only learning it now. Good for the Seahawks and good for Heater.
Week 13 coverage map
Chris Rose for the Seahawks this week and Rose is just awful. Luckily I'm going to the game.
Sunday Night Football 11/21, Giants @ Eagles
I think we all need something to take our minds off of the ugly loss to the Saints earlier. This game might be good enough. The top two teams in the NFC East battle it out in the City of Brotherly Love tonight and Manning vs. Vick could be a solid matchup. The teams both have top 10 defenses according to DVOA and while Philly's rush defense sucks, both teams have great pass defenses. Go Philly, I guess.
Seahawks snubbed by Prilosec! Again!
Not that it's really of any importance, of course. But it would still be nice to have the Seahawks winning an important divisional game that allowed them to sit ALONE in first place be nominated for "victory of the week". Really, who cares about the Cowboys? It's not like their win means that they have any chance of going to the playoffs. What a great sponsor they are!
