Ryan Harris released
Ryan Harris released with injury settlement.
"-Eagles released OT Ryan Harris and OG Reggie Wells.
Harris goes with an injury settlement after recent back surgery. We suspect he won't play this season. Wells is versatile, but a career journeyman. Sep 3 - 6:18 PM-" ROTOWORLD
Broncos TE Richard Quinn has officially cleared waivers and been placed on the team's injured reserve list.

Supplemental about to begin
There's no place to watch the Supplemental draft so don't go scrambling to look in your TV schedule.

ORTON NAMED STARTER
"He is our starter," McDaniels said. "There is no question."
FINAL MOCK
he rules are fairly simple; all selections are made from a Big Board (because I control the decision and can make them contemporaneously -- in other words, no going back to change picks nor going forward to see who's available). The source of the Big Board is CBS DraftScout, because it's more accurate. Only players who appear on the Big Board at corresponding number for our pick can be selected.
Needs. I've written volumes on this, so I won't reiterate everything here now. Most everyone has an idea so I don't think I need to elaborate on previous discussions. In any case, I'll address this in the discussion after each pick.
A final note -- I haven't looked at CBS lately but I have a pretty good idea of where they rate players. This fact is not unlike our actual war room decision-making process so there is fidelity with the actual process. I have certain ideas about availability of players and will explain that decision making process in the discussion after picks.

MOCK
it.'m not going to do a long lead-in. Picks are chosen from DraftTek's Big Board for this version but I'll try to use CBS in a later version because they're more accurate. Picks are only chosen from available players at the time of the pick.
There's a fairly well-developed strategy and set of needs but I won't try to explain that here. This provides a recent list of priorities.

Kuper signs tender
He's the first of five who have been tendered to sign and he'll be making 2.512 million next year.
Just a note - interior OLs have been in demand and are hard to find in free agency. This may constitute a trend, as defenses have sought to overload the middle in order to create pressure and offenses have responded by bulking up their interior OL in response, thus increasing the value of quality interior OLs.

correct link on "Bryant refutes critcs"
-- the last fanshot inadvertently repeated the same link in the headline and body --
I'll also repost it below.

Bryant refutes critics
Reports by Jason Cole cite sources close to the Oklahoma State program as being critical of Dez Bryant. Specifically, Bryant is accused of being late to games, which he strongly denies.
"Bryant also dismissed reports that he's shown up late for practices and games. 'I've never been late to a game or a practice'...-"
Bronco RFAs tendered
The terms of the tender offers were released today and all five RFAs -- Dumervil, Marshall, Kuper, Orton and Scheffler -- were given tender offers.
free agent signing period calendar
The signing period for FAs is rapidly approaching and we'll have answers regarding whether we'll be signing anyone and who. I, for one, find this a very interesting period since it gives us an idea of what McX think about our current team and how they want to go about fixing our problems. Also, our draft strategy is going to be partly contingent upon which FAs we sign.
An added attraction for this year's signing period could be trades, since some teams might choose to trade RFAs as a way of acquiring players in a year when fewer UFAs are available. It's hard to predict what will actually happen since it's a novel situation for everyone.

Surveying the Defense
Much of the MSM’s attitude towards the Broncos was infected during the Cutlergate issue so there’s been monkey pile of proffered opinions that contain little serious analysis. We can lump much of this in the Group Think pile, and ignore it — for the most part.
There are some kernels of truth, or logic, contained therein, so I wanted to address what has merit.
