Colts draft
When it comes to the draft, colts fans will argue that there is none better than Bill Polian. They will say this he knows all, and he can find pro-bowl talent no matter which round it is. There's just something I wanted to say about this. Let's begin, first, with the good...
1998, Pick 1 - Peyton Manning. 'Nuff Said.
1999, Pick 4 - Edgerrin James. Thank goodness it wasn't Ricky
2000, Pick 28 - Rob Morris. Solid pick, a good defensive player (which is rare for polian 1st rounds)
2001, Pick 30 - Reggie Wayne. Have you SEEN this guy play?
2002, Pick 11 - Dwight Freeney. Possibly the most important player on the roster (manning excluded)
2003, Pick 24 - Dallas Clark. I love him. I really, seriously love him.
2004 - No pick
2005, Pick 29 - Here's where it gets dicey. Marlin Jackson. I think he can be a great CB, but he hasn't proven anything. And his recent injuries are making me hate him. There's no room for injury prone defenders on this roster (cough Sanders cough)
2006, Pick 30 - Joseph Addai. I'm still conflicted. Two fantastic years. One subpar year, and this one is downright strange. As far as fantasy (thank goodness I drafted him) he's a stud. He'll get the job done, but it would be nice to go to a three-back set, with a guy who can actually average OVER 4 yards a carry.
2007, Pick 32 - Anthony Gonzalez - Very efficient. Two decent years, I was waiting for year three. This injury is crippling to his career, and if a receiver hasn't made serious progress by year three, he's a bust by default. We need a SB NOW, and we can't wait for our guys to develop 5-6 years down.
2008 - No Pick
2009, Pick 27 - He's only a rookie, so I'll give brown the benefit of the doubt. But that injury ruined what could have been a great game, or streak of games.
So here's the deal. I love the colts last 4 picks, but when was the last time Polian hit gold on a first rounder? 2003. That's a long time. Sure, Polian has still found pro-bowl talent (Antoine Bethea), and he has found some nice undrafted rookies, but we need him to find a guy who can be a pro-bowler for us years down the road. To be quite honest, depth would be nice at EVERY position we have right now, except for QB where Sorgi and Painter are more than capable of holding clipboards.
Just a little piece of info that I found quite shocking.
EDIT: You can argue that the recent picks have been late, but that wasn't an issue with Morris, Wayne, Tarik Glenn, Marvin Harrison.
Yet another Playoff picture
I'm not trying to bash CDEK (CDECK?) here, but I saw his playoff picture and wanted to make some minor tweaks and changes. This is just my opinion, feel free to make fun of it all you want.

people are doing anything to get AP. should i make any trades? should i start the colts D at any point this season?
quick drop in
sorry i haven't had time to drop by for a loooooong. time. but aren't you guys worried about the o-line and the d-line? seriously, if the next draft doesn't go
1. o lineman
2. d lineman
3. o lineman
4. d lineman
5. d lineman
6. o lineman
i'm gonna kill someone. and why do the commentators keep calling manning the sheriff? and how thankful are you that we have manning, who never fails to keep us out of a game?
EDIT: Cool hand Eli? what the HELL does that mean?!
and did the commentators give peyton credit for vinatieri's bank shot?
EDIT 2: These commentators... i swear one of them just yelled "pennington...LOOK OUT!" When Mathis strip-sacked him. Why exactly is he trying to talk to the qb?
really, guys?
Are the fans here hostile because your called the lions or something? I mean, I have my opinions and it's okay if you don't agree, but I complimented the lions and I like them. I want to clear that up. I LIKE THE LIONS. The same way I like the eagles and giants. The same way I respect the Falcons and many other NFL teams. I've met a few respectable guys here, mushy is the only name I remember. Thank you to those guys, they know how to represent their team
Forget the TEAM. Why 2009 will be Peyton Manning's best season
What do you think Manning's best season has been so far? Was it his second season in the NFL, the historic turnaround from 3-13 to 13-3? Also the year in which he absolutely destroyed any belief that he would hit a sophomore slump, easily outperforming his rookie year and finishing the season with a 90.7 QB rating. A season in which he commited 18 turnovers, and yet managed 28 Touchdowns. Also a 4000 yard passing season.
Was it 00-01 when Manning was entering his third year in the NFL and receiving a LOT of criticism for throwing as many TDs and INTs? He threw for 33 TDs (his second highest in his career) and passed for 4400 yards. Also the season in which he had his first perfect game. Fittingly it was against New England, he completed 16 of 20 passes for 3 TDs and 268 yards without being sacked. Quite a season. Also the
Maybe it was 03-04. Manning was coming off of two seasons in which he threw a large amount of interceptions (23 in '01 and 19 in '02). Two straight seasons of 80+ qb rating. Although in '02 his rating was *88.8*, perhaps Marvin's best season ever (he would be number 88 for those of you who don't know), and arguably one of the best by a receiver ever (with Moss and Rice challenging him with the 22 and 23 TD seasons). Manning had a 99.0 passer rating and passed for 4267 yards and only 10 picks, a career low. He also threw for 29 TDs and had the memorable perfect passer rating New Orleans game. 6 TDs and 314 yards. It was the season in which Manning proved everyone wrong and established his place as an elite QB in the league.
It is extremely hard to argue with the 04-05 season. Manning threw for a then-NFL record 49 touchdowns and did so in 15 games along with missing about a total of 2-4 games by either sitting out or handing off just about every play in the fourth quarter. He commited 11 turnovers, but only attempted 497 passes. By far the lowest of his career until that point and the second lowest so far. He also set a record for the highest QB rating in a season with 121.1 and on top of it all he averaged 9.2 yards every attempt. Although the AFC championship loss hurt very much.
06-07. The superbowl year. Also a year in which Manning passed for only 9 picks, the lowest of his career. He also managed 31 TDs and 4400 yards. Another 100+ QB rating year. Manning's assault on the record books was in full force and he was slowly chipping away at the lead. Perhaps the dreadful playoff performances hurt this season. Manning didn't hit a QB rating of 70 over the course of the playoffs, but greatly improved the playoff record.
As good as all of the years have been, I think we are getting ready for Manning's best season so far. Now listen to this before you tell me I'm being all optimistic and just saying this because I want the god damn football season to start. I'm saying this because I truly honestly believe in it. I'm not the kind of guy who thinks that the running game will be amazing with a healthy o line and a great RB tandem. I'm not the guy who thinks the d-line will be great with the new DTs. I'm not the guy who thinks Bob Sanders will be the DPOY again. Although, I *do* think he will be healthy. I'm not the guy who thinks that Dallas Clark will be the greatest TE in the league and Reggie will be a top three WR and Gonzo will be a pro bowl caliber guy. I think that all three of them will do great, with Gonzo hitting the 1k mark, but I'm just not that optimistic. I don't think that Gijon Robinson is a crazy athletic guy who will be a 600 yard receiver or 5 TD receiver. I don't think collie is the next 04-05 Stokely.
My reasons, after the jump.

Quarterback Salaries
In response to BROWNdude's (gotta love that name. probably cuz i'm brown) comment on my earlier fanpost, I made this one. Basically it's what i think all of the NFL qb's salary should be, salary cap aside. I'm taking in to account only stats, wins, championships, leadership and all that jazz. If every QB were signed TODAY here's what I think they should get.
A colts fan who has a question
Hey, this is probably the only SB Nation site i've posted on other than Stampede Blue. I'm a diehard colts fan, but I have a soft spot for way too many teams. There aren't too many teams I hate, patriots and steelers being two of them. And I truly thought the Lions would beat the saints last year. But I have a question. It's not "what does 0-16 feel like". I want to know how you guys think you will do. Do you see the lions as the same team that started 6-2 a few years ago? Do you realistically think Stafford is your man? I see the lions at 5-11 next year, but I don't think Stafford is the man. Don't hate on me because I said that, it's just my opinion. I truly think that Stafford is a hard worker, he's not ignorant, he has a good arm and great accuracy. The reason I don't see him as the man is because I don't know if the supporting cast is enough for him. I strongly disagree with the rebuilding strategy the lions are taking. I'm no GM, but I think an offensive tackle, LT to be precise, would be the best choice. If you have a top WR, a weakside protector, and you work on your defense through the draft and free agency, I honestly think Stafford could thrive. Look at the colts. A terrible team until Manning came. They got Marvin, who is like Calvin. Then they got Tarik Glenn who protected Manning's Ass until he could catch up to the game and get used to it. I honestly hope the lions do good. But I realistically don't see it happening, do you?
Things that make me mad.
A lot of things made me mad recently, let's begin.
1. Eli Manning has a 6 year $97 million contract. Seriously? Let's put aside the fact that his career completion percentage is 56%. Lets not think about his 76.1 career QB Rating. Act like the fact that he averages 15 INTS a season doesn't exist. I like Eli. And I think he's good. It stops at good, because he is a second tier QB and has just made life hell for all teams who are about to re-sign Quarterbacks who have qb ratings ABOVE 80.
2. Michael Crabtree is acting like a baby. He's mad that he isn't getting paid more than 5 years 23.5 million. I swear to god I think when all of these guys were kids they would go crazy if they were told that they would be paid over ONE MILLION in a year. He's mad because he thinks that he's better than Heyward-Bey and he should be paid as such. I now hate him.
3. The cowboys are charging over $90 a pizza! The economy isn't getting worse. All of the money from the middle class is slowly getting sucked up into the upper class.
4. The packers may POSSIBLY sign Michael Vick. Probably as a back up, i'm sure. And I DO want to see Michael vick get some sort of shot in the NFL. But the packers are a respected and very important franchise in the NFL. I would hate to see vick taint the franchise.
5. This one just scares me. LenDale White lost 30 pounds of fat just by giving up patron. THIRTY POUNDS. How much effing patron does this guy drink that he loses 30 pounds by stopping? MJD (Matthew J. Darnell) of Shutdown Corner down at Yahoo does a good job of explaining how much this guy would have to drink to have lost 30 pounds by not drinking.
I've been wondering
I've noticed that a few people here are "friends". Does anyone here know another person in real life? I was curious. Oh, and something that's really bugging me.... I have a question for Indy Lori. You sound... familiar, can you give me your last name? If you think I'm a creep and you don't want to i'm cool with that. But I really need to know... it's bugging me.
A quick addition to 805 and his fanpost on the TDs
805 made a great a point in saying that peyton broke the record in 15 games and not 16, like "THE OTHER QB". But another thing that VERY FEW patriots fans happen to know is that he didn't even play 15 games. In fact, he left SO MANY games at halftime, late in the third, or early in the fourth quarter. The colts had already won those games and Dungy had enough respect for other teams NOT TO EMBARASS them. He missed an average of probably one quarter a game, or very close to that. Meaning that he could have quite easily hit 49 TDs in week 12 or 13, if he had played every game and tried as hard as he could. Another good thing about that was he didn't risk himself to meaningless injury, and we all know what that can do to a player's season. I wanted to post this here because not many people would read it in comments, and this is something that most ignorant pats fans should shove in their pipes to smoke.
How did YOU become a Colts fan?
I was just wondering what everyone's stories were. My story of being a colts fan is kind of strange, I just wanted to know if anyone had a stranger story. See, I moved to Indiana when I was five. I learned what "sports" were when I was eight. I started playing them at nine. I got decent at sports when I was 12. But football never crossed my mind. It was always basketball for me. Back in 2005 my cousins visited us here in Indiana, they were from Arizona. They got me Madden 04 as a gift (which I still have, and play). I didn't like football so I put it away. The first football game I ever watched was the AFC championship in 2006. Not a bad place to start, huh? I watched maybe 40% of the superbowl and I was happy when the colts won, but I still wasn't a fan. My next game was superbowl 41.5 colts vs. patriots. We lost and I didn't care much. The playoffs came and went and I still didn't like football too much. Then I started playing Madden, and eventually I learned all of the rules of football from Madden. I knew exactly what football was and over summer I became a huge colts fan. I watched every colts game last season and I kept track of ALL of the stats. I am now obsessed with the colts and I know EVERYTHING about stats. I know every team, every division, every depth chart. My brain picked it up over summer, and doesn't want to let go. I have spent countless hours reading about the colts previous games, previous years. I didn't watch them, but I know exactly what happened every year.
Full Colts 2009 season predictions
You might be getting sick of these, but what is a guy supposed to do? Sit there and count down the days until Madden 10 comes out? The entire prediction and projected stats after the jump.
Do all pats fans have the IQ of my 8 month old niece?
Pats fans begin by dissing us for saying we would like to kick Rodney Harrison in the nuts. They think that colts fans would OBVIOUSLY pick a pats player to kick in the nuts! Little do they know, 99% of the NFL would like to kick him in the nuts, too! Then they go on and pick a colts player and AN ENTIRE COLTS UNIT to call overrated! They pick Manning as the first... really? The qb that led his team to a superbowl in 06-07, the qb who has NEVER missed a start in his ENTIRE CAREER. The qb who is on pace to break ALL records held by qbs. The guy who brought his team back from 21-3 to win an AFC championship game. That guy is overrated! Then they say the colts D is overrated. How is it possible to be overrated when you're considered to be terrible! If anything, these guys are underrated! People think they suck, and quite honestly, they do. But if they had some 300 pound DTs last year, along with the top pass defense, these guys would be a top five defense! They also said that Hines Ward is overrated. Sure, I hate him. Lots of people hate him. But he is important to this team. He can block (although some of them are dirty) he can catch, he's tough, and he can go over the middle.
