Stampede Blue Our 2009 Draft Class Now

                                                                                Gfx_php_medium

Round 1: Donald Brown (Running Back, Connecticut): Donald did not have a stellar rookie year, but he showed a lot of promise in the games that he did play in. He rushed for 281 yard on 78 carries, averaging 3.6 ypc and 25.5 ypg. He only played in 11 games, so he needs to stay healthier in future years, but overall, Brown looks like he will combine with Addai to be an adiquit two headed runing and blocking monster for years to come. Grade: B-

Round 2: Filli Moala (Defensive Tackle, USC): His size (305 lbs) and strength keep his potential viable, but Moala in my opinion was kind of a bust. He had only 7 takles in ten appearences. He began to show some run stuffing promise in the later weeks of the year, but I expect more out of him in future seasons, because a second round pick should have a huge impact, especially for a draft-heavy team like the colts. Grade: C

Round 3: Jerraud Powers (Cornerback, Auburn): In my opinion the best pick we have takin in years. Powers earned a starting spot this year and played phenominally tight coverage. He has been relieable and has made very few rookie mistakes. Special thanks to Bill Polian for drafting a cornerback with shutdown capabilities. Grade: A+

Round 4: Austin Collie (Wide Reciever BYU): This kid has smarts, quickness, good hands, a mature attitude, great study habits, and did I mention he is smart. Collie lead all rookies with 60 catches and 7 TDs! He played in all 16 games, averaged 11.3 yards per catch, and had 676 yard recieving. Best rookie wide out in the leauge along with Percy Harvin. He could of been a first rounder and I wouikld still give him an A+. Collie is going to be the slot reciever in Indy for a long time! Arguably the best pick of our draft. Grade: A+ (selected to all rookie team)

Round 4A: Terrance Taylor (Defensive Tackle, Michigan): Not much to say hear, he was waived by the team during final cuts on September 5. He's currently with the Detroit Lions practice squad. They can't all be great. Grade: F

Round 6: Curtis Painter (Quarterback, Perdue): This is not the place to bash Curtis Painter for his play during the final two games. Granted, I was a little disapointed with his skills that were supposed to be smart, accurate, play, but overall, we will probbably, and hopefully, not know how good he really is until after #18 retires. Grade: C-

Round 7: Pat McAfee  (Punter, West Virginia): Drafting McAfee was a great move by upper management. He performed great during his rookie season both punting and kicking off. He limited his touchbacks on punts as the season progressed, and even picked up the rugby punting style and used it to place several punts inside the 20. he has a booming kick that has giving the opposing teams bad field pisition constantly. Grade: A (selected to all rookie team)

Round 7A: Jamie Thomas (Offensive Tackle, Maryland): I believe Thomas is currently on our practice squad. Again, not much to say hear, but at least he has the oppertunity to move up the ranks: Grade: D

Honerable Mention Undrafted FA: Jacob Lacey (Cornerback, Oklahoma State). He was the most underrated cornerback coming out of college. He started 9 games, played in 16, had three interceptions (one for a TD... SAFE!) 13 passes defended, and played great, smart football all year round. His presence gives us a three-headed monsrter of a CB corps. Grade: A++ (selected to all rookie team)

Stampede Blue Raheem Brock: I hate tom brady!

Jax_ind2_081218_top_medium

QUESTION

As a Colt what do you think about Tom Brady?

Raheem Brock, Indianapolis Colts

I hate Brady! I hate Tom Brady! But I really do respect him. I respect his game, he's a tough QB. He's just like Peyton, but no, I don't like him! I don't like the Patriots, none of us here like the Patriots. But you gotta give respect.
Do you hate Tom Brady...

Stampede Blue Gimme Your Predictions: Here's mine

Afc-championship_medium

Colts: 24   Jets: 10

The Colts are coming off a game where they held Ray Rice, who was "supposed to" run all over the colts well under 100 yards. The Colts CAN stop the run, and will stop the run against the JETS, who play a very similar game style to the Ravens. Joe Flacco is a better QB than Mark Saanchez. Flacco could not handle the heat, and as demonstrated in week 16 (Freeny sacked him straight on twice), he is going to be under constant pressure. He will make mistakes, and our smart secondary will captilaize. In addition, Peyton Manning, who got a preview of Rex Ryan, will come out hot, and not have to adjust like he did in week 16. That means an early lead that will of course force them to throw the ball, and we all know what happens when a rookie QB drops back against Freeny and Mathis. Also, Kelvin Hayden has quitly reinforced this secondary scince his return. We dont have to put in Jennings on three wide reciever sets. We have three great CB, and Melv and Antoine are on the top of their game. Derrel Revis can not cover Reggie, Dallas, Peirre, and Collie all at the same time, so even if he plays perfect coverage on wayne the whole game, I expect our other three targets to have big games. Our two young recievers really steped up last week, and they look unflappable. Peyton did a great job spreading the ball around, and that way he will avoid "Revis Island" which he can deal with anyways. Two words. Gary Brackett. This guy is playing the best bakll of anyone on the team in my opinion, he was right there at the line of scrimmage on neerly every running attempt, and also did a great job in coverage. Just hope our run game gets going, but it is not essential!

What are your predictions, thoughts?

GO COLTS!!!

Fact: Peyton Manning Will win his fourth MVP award.
Why: Brees is resting, Favre went downhill three weeks ago. Rivers has not won as many games and Volek will play Sunday. And Chris Johnson's team is not in the playoffs. Case Closed, Congrats Peyton, another historical achievement!

Stampede Blue Five Things about the MVP, Peyton Manning, The Undefeated Colts, and More!

After watching Thursday Night's thriller in Jacksonville, I took five important things from the game.

1) Peyton Manning solidified his MVP campaign, throwing for four TDs and over 300 yards, with a 134.4 passer rating. He lead another comeback drive in the fourth quarter, and played a nearly perfect in a game where the defense did not show until the last drive really. Then, Saturday Night, Drew "Breesus" (Love it) had a terrible game, and showed he could not step up in the fourth quarter like Manning has all year long taking two sacks in a row, and fumbling it to end the game. (props to Ware). I'm very excited to finally see the Colts and Peyton number one on the Power Rankings and MVP watch across the Interweb, for the first time since week 4.

2) Our linebackers are much better this year than in previous years. Obviously, Clint Session and Gary Bracket are having phenomenal seasons (they are first and second on the team in the total tackles with 84 and 75 respectively), but I was good to see Phillip Wheeler step it up Thursday night. He led the team with 10 total tackles, including some great backfield hits on MJD. In contrast to last year, when Bracket was hurt, and the outside LBs were struggling, I think we have a great unit heading into the playoffs!

3) I Love Jacob Lacy. Don't lie to me, we all were biting our nails when Hayden went down and Lacy had to step up, but the underrated rookie free agent, again ROOKIE Free Agent, out of Oklahoma State has steeped up huge. Yeah, I know he's let a couple get away from him, but Randy Moss, Andre Johnson, and Brandon Marshall have a tendency to do that. Three picks, most importantly the one last night, makes his rookie season better than anyone could have predicted (obviously). In addition I Love Jerraud Powers. Not having him Thursday really showed how valuable he is. Whens the last time a Gerrard threw 3 TDs against us? Powers is going to be a star, just watch. Our rookie CB have been more than impressive, and have been a major contribution to the season. How nice is it to have three future cornerbacks that can dominate! Hayden and Powers are going to be boss next year together, and throw in Lacy, and wee will have a beastly secondary!

091102222947resized_lacey_medium

4. Reggie Wayne's Patience have paid off huge in fourth quarter drives. During the first three quarters of Thursday nights game, Wayne was rather silent, but because of his consistency, he kept running his routs hard, and was hit for a long 65 yard TD. He has been doing this all year long: in the Patriots game, the winning TD to Wayne was thrown to a rout Reggie created to throw off his man (as reported), and made a great play. We will need his consistency and fourth quarter domination in the playoffs, and I expect nothing less out of 87.

5. Dallas Clark is my Boy! Because we share the same birthday, june 12, I feel like Dallas and I have a special connection, and whenever I hope for a Manning to Clark TD, my boy Clark pulls one out of his bag. Five TDs in the last two games further contributes to Dallas' historic season. He is by far the best TE in the league, and despite his turnover Thursday, played another monster game. It is amazing the star power we have on this team! I love each and ever on of my colts, even you Timmy J.

Stampede Blue Rest Players? Are You Crazy? NO!

Many colts "fans" around the world are wondering just how the last five games of the 2009 regular season are going to unfold for the now 11-0 colts. Real colts fans should be worrying about one thing, a super-bowl title." We should go for 16-0" says many fans. The risks far outweigh the benefits. The following are reasons to A. limit players after clinching the number one seed (potentially after this week- see clinching scenarios), or B. Trying all out to go 16-0.

A. Resting Players...

- We should get players such as Hayden, Freeny, Gonzo, and many others you see on the seemingly endless injury reports back at full strength. (Pretty darn important if you ask me).

-Peyton still has three-four-five weeks (believe it or not) to work on every facet of the offensive game in practices without risking injury.

-The entire starting line has a slim chance of not getting hurt at all throughout the last games!!!

- Someone will sprain an ankle, bruise a hammy, or pull a quad, that is inevitable during an NFL game!

- Are momentum will come, don't worry it is overrated. Last year we couldn't run or stop the run and that was why we lost to the chargers. This year Addai is averaging more yards per carry and getting key first downs, such as his brilliant first down run against the Texans on fourth down.

- WE WILL BE AT HOME!

- We will play the worst seeded team from the wild card, and pending a first round win, will have less injuries, more energy, and the same momentum as any other team. We will have a weak off anyway, and we came out strong after our bye week during the season.

-I could list more reasons why this is good, one being that we don't fall to the level of the patriots, who ran out of gas by their 19th game playing full out. Think about it. They looked tired in the SB that year. Maybe they should have been happy with 14-2 like colts fans should.

B. Playing PLayers.

- Supposed "momentum"

- Potential to go 19-0 or 16-0,

- Injurys (wait thats a bad thing)

THE ONLY REASON I THINK THE COLTS SHOULD GO FOR IT IS SO THAT PEYTON MANNING WILL GET THE MVP AWARD HE DESERVES. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING, BECAUSE IN THE NFC, THE VIKINGS AND SAINTS ARE JARING FOR 1ST SEED, AND THE MVP WILL MOST LIKELY GO TO THE QB FROM TH 1 SEED IN THE NFC. SORRY #18, I LOVE YOU, BUT A RING IS MORE IMPORTANT, AS YOU TOO BELIEVE, THAN ANOTHER SPECTACULAR ACHIEVEMENT IN YOUR ALREADY PRESTIGIOUS CAREER.

Stampede Blue Colts Heat up every November!

It seems every year the Indianapolis colts heat up in November. Last year, in november though, they beat the Patriots, Steelers, Texans and Chargers! Expect the Colts to start heating up Sunday in Texas!

I expect the Colts to come out stringer on offense than they have. If Peyton practices, which he will because he is a warrior, than he will make sure the offense will start to run more smoothly.

If we can get past the texans, we have a legit shot at going 16-0

Stampede Blue MVP: #4 for #4? Don't Count out #18!

NFL MVP WATCH:

Why is Brett Favre now number one on everyone's MVP watch list... because he's forty?

He has the best running back in the league and defenses play the run!!!

Just because Brett Farve throws up a couple TDs against the lions and sehawks, suddenly people forget Mannings four TD game against the patriots!!!

I LOVE #4 , but he does not deserve his fourth MVP this year. #18 does. New coach, new receivers, still stellar play.

Thoughts?

Stampede Blue A WIN IS A WIN!

In the NFL, winning isn't easy, so we should be happy for each and every win, and just because we have won the last four games by a small margin, doesn't mean that we are not the top team. 10-0 is 10-0, and close games make us focus on our week points. How much you wanna bet that manning threw to Collie and Garcon ten million times after their last couple off weeks to improve their catching, and sunday, Garcon shined.

Stampede Blue Why The Indianapolis Colts need an alternative jersey.

Playing the spectacular new Madden NFL 10, I realized that we are one of the only teams without alternative jerseys. Among some teams closet full of alternates are throwbacks that we just can't wear for obvious reasons. However, it seems that some teams get excited debuting their alternates, not to mention, it gives fans a new look. My opinion is along with the great new line of colts black (and blue/white) gear, should come a super awesome new black jersey, that would be intimidating, new, exciting, and totally awesome. I mean, as nice as our jerseys are (plain, simple, blue) mixing it up a little bit couldn't hurt, and what better time than next year and a new decade. Our alternatives in madden next year should be boss black baby. Thoughts? Also, I almost got puked on by a ravens fan at M&T sunday, I would have kicked his a**!!!
