The blue lines represent the end of an inning.

There was some discussion earlier about Sanchez's loss to the Padres and whether it had to do with some make-up issues or simple stamina problems. This graph shows a pretty steady decline in velocity between innings 1-4, and then a collapse in the 5th inning (in which Jonathan allowed 4 of his 5 runs), which definitely suggests that Dirty's ineffectiveness late in the game was mainly due to lack of stamina.

You can find more graphs like this in my blog.

CHICAGO -- Matt Cain, not All-Star right-hander Tim Lincecum, will move to the front of the Giants' starting rotation following the All-Star break, manager Bruce Bochy said Sunday.

Cain will start Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers, followed by left-hander Jonathan Sanchez on Saturday and Lincecum on Sunday. After Monday's scheduled off-day, left-hander Barry Zito and right-hander Kevin Correia will pitch Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, against the Washington Nationals.

Apparently Bochy wants to give Lincecum some extra days off, especially since he might pitch in the All-Star Game. I guess nobody told him Cain's a #3 starter at best. (AT BEST!).
