Doubtful that he would come here (doesn't he hate turf, or something?), but would he satisfy the desire for a goalscorer?

Maybe have to revise our term.

This morning. I was able to get 7 seats together in the away support area (Sections 228 & 229). To get seats in that location, select "Yellow" under "Section," and "West Side" under "Additional."

See you there!

They haven't joined a league yet, but semi-pro soccer is coming to Bellingham. I'm hoping for PDL-USL, since the teams in that league are a bit more interesting, a bit farther up the ladder. Either way, looking forward to the distant possibility of early round USOC games in Bellingham.

Sounder At Heart Cascadia Away

OK, quick poll, now that we know the dates of our Cascadia glory.

I'm not a member of a supporters' group, nor do I intend to be (though I support them, and even donate a little for tifo from time to time). I don't think I'll make it to Portland, unfortunately, but I am planning to head to Vancouver to support the Sounders.

Are you planning to go to Cascadia away games? If so, what is your plan for acquiring tickets? I'm particularly interested in those of us who are not part of a supporters' group (though it could be relevant to all, since perhaps more than 500 will want to attend away games). Ticketmaster? StubHub/etc.? Scalpers?

Interested to know your strategy.

One of my favorite podcasts, Radiolab, has a piece up on keepers. It's pretty good, though nothing hard-hitting or action packed. Contemplative.

If I missed this goal I wouldn't be able to sleep for like four days.

The only thing I can figure is that he tried to put it in with his left foot, creating a difficult angle where no difficult angle existed.

Great article from a great soccer writer.

I knew Brad was too far upfield. However, the ball was already in the net by the time the ref should have been blowing his whistle, it happened so fast.

Imagine the gut punch if they had called that back.

Does this make up for the Nyassi goal? This one was much more important.

Now that we have a season... a little something for the back pocket.

Hope you don't mind, Keith.

Lot of friendliness going on among arch rivals.

GoSounders.com reports on a mystery match, March 11. On sale soon.

Is this a test to see how many folks will come out to a midweek game with an unknown or lesser opponent (possible determinate for USOC or CCL at Qwest)? Or is it something else?

Who will spill the beans on this first?

Sounder At Heart A home for the Champions League

As reported by Romero, Prost, and likely others, it sounds as if our CCL play-in games might be played at Starfire. Certainly we were all hoping to welcome real international competitors to Qwest, and I assumed that our guaranteed CCL game would be included in the season ticket package.

The club, apparently, thinks otherwise:

"That'll be just like the U.S. Open Cup," VP Gary Wright said. "Should we play in a Champions League final and its a home game, that would be a little different."

However, they may have a problem.

Combined with Keller's comments, all of a sudden we have our own little Beckhamesque locker room drama. Yay.

Surprised you haven't mentioned this yet, Dave, though I'm sure you're crafting it as I type.

Now I'm slightly worried about (1) CBA and work stoppage, and (2) USL1/NASL implosion and a disaster of a D2 season.

If they don't work things out in a week, what do you think would happen? Would they play anyway, unsanctioned? Would they toss the whole season?

All of it sounds very unpleasant. Looking forward to your thoughts.
