Rockets guard Aaron Brooks will be named the winner of the NBA Most Improved Player award on Thursday, according to a person with knowledge of the voting.
Brooks will be the first Rockets player to win one of the league’s performance awards since Steve Francis was a co-rookie of the year 10 years ago.

C-a-c: 'Doubt that the sun doth move'
"Rockets head coach Rick Adelman recites some Shakespeare to his team against the Bobcats at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte on Tuesday. Best caption wins a new-age calculator watch. Good luck."
The Rockets are in discussions with several clubs about McGrady, and sources say two of the teams near the top of their wish list are Washington and Chicago.
Nothing is imminent with either team, but there are potential deals with both clubs that Houston would be interested in pulling off.
Washington, which league executives believe is in cost-cutting mode after the Gilbert Arenas disaster, could have McGrady for a deal featuring Caron Butler and some expiring contracts, perhaps Mike Miller and Randy Foye.
Welcome to the NBA, rookie!

If McGrady's recent workouts are any indication, it would be easy to assume that his game will have all of its dimensions back this season.
"I think he's gonna be a player like he used to be in his younger days, because his body is balanced now," Reavy says confidently. "He's using all his muscles properly and everything's absorbing a force and creating a force versus just the knee."
Once he gets over any lingering doubts in his mind, Reavy is convinced that McGrady could return to an All-Star level as soon as this year.

2. Houston Rockets in their jammie-jams
Only Moochie Norris (pictured, above) could be happy in threads like these. Debuting in 1995 and lasting for nearly a decade, these pinstripe-laden unis aided in the destruction of the two-time NBA champions, reminded us all of bad pajamas and then outfitted an entire (rather large) nation in awful, awful threads once Yao Ming debuted in them during the 2002-03 season.
If you watch this guy, on any given possession, you'll understand. Just take your eye off the ball and watch Battier work — the guy acts as if he's in his own reality show, as if the cameras were on him for the entire 24-second turn, even if his man never gets the ball, while appearing deathly allergic to letting people down. Battier just does everything right. It may not mean he'll get the rebound, block or steal — and his guy might still nail the shot — but I've never seen someone pitch as many perfect games defensively.

Does Houston Really Have that Big of a Problem?
An article to give us hopes.
The guy checks the wins produced by the players that'll probably be in our regular rotation; everyone except Brooks is an above-average player.

Rockets sign Budinger
The Rockets signed Chase Budinger today, making him the second of our three second-round draft selections to be signed.
From FOX 26 Sports:
The Houston Rockets reached a contract agreement with rookie forward Chase Budinger according to his agent Kevin Bradbury.
Bradbury told FOX 26 Sports Tuesday Budinger's deal with the Rockets is for two years with team options for two more years.
"This is a great opportunity for Chase," Bradbury said. "The Rockets really stepped up by giving him a deal that is comparable to what a first rounder would receive.

Rashard Lewis tests positive for performance enhancing substance
Orlando Magic All-Star Rashard Lewis will be suspended for the first 10 games of next season because he has tested positive for a testosterone-producing steroid, the Orlando Sentinel has learned.
According to league sources, Lewis was taking nutritional supplements at the end of last season that unknowing to him contained a substance commonly known as DHEA (Dehydroepiandrosterone) -- a chemical compound made naturally in the body but also found in numerous over-the-counter supplements at nutritional stores. The substance is banned by most sports leagues, including the NBA.
Tony Dutt, Lewis' agent, said: "We're just getting word of some things, so at this point I don't want to make a comment on it."
Wow!!
Congratulations to Jermaine on joining the Rockets for many years. JT is doing well at Grgurich camp this week along with Joey and Chuck.
Wafer Update: To Meet With Clippers
While Wafer will meet with the Clippers Tuesday, he is still hopeful he might be able to return to the Rockets.
"This is where I want to be," Wafer said. "They gave me my first opportunity. I want to be here."
But if that's not possible, and the Clippers make him an offer, Wafer could be changing addresses again.
OT: Why Does Chris Wallace Hang Around?
This has nothing to do with the Rockets, but I thought this post was interesting since we love to hate on the Grizzlies' GM so much. Maybe it's not all his fault.
