Grew up in Tucson, but no baseball to be a fan of during those times. Latched on to the D-Backs during the playoffs in 2000. What great timing! Fell in love and was a devout fan for all of 2001. That pretty much screwed me right there :)
Living in Las Vegas now, baby due in February.
Disgruntled that I can;t see games live on TV or internet, but I walk through the desert for a living and my XM radio is my most prized posession.

Zavada is #1!!!
#1 Mustached American, that is:
I can't believe this happened all the way back on Friday and there hasn't been a press release about it from the Diamondbacks yet! Imagine my surprise when I was flipping the channels this morning after a rough night of avoiding handing out Halloween candy, when who's name do I hear as I pass by CBS's Sunday morning news program?
Your 2009 Robert Goulet Memorial Mustached American of the Year, Clay Zavada.
Congrats Clay, now lets see if we can get Drew into the top 10 for the 2010 Lynard Skynard Memorial Mullet of the Year.

D-Backs Going In Strange Directions?
http://www.azcentral.com/members/Blog/NickPiecoro/44879
1) Now we're interested in Tom Gordon
2) We were making a play for Lyon...for the rotation
On the first subject; if we want another bullpen arm why aren't we jumping back on Cruz for a one year deal? He gets some money and re-enters a stronger market next year. We get Cruz's awesomeness and avoid the Yankee's fifth round pick in the draft.
On Lyon; why would we have even considered this? I understand he might project as a starter with his four pitches/no out pitch portfolio, but have'nt his problems always stemmed from too many innings? And now that the Club seems to have chosen Garland over Randy, it appears that eating innings was a major factor.
One more thing...where'd all this money come from all of a sudden? Was Moorad stealing from the other owners?

New Info on Montero to Sox
http://bottomlinesox.com/2009/01/whats-a-catcher-worth.html
Basically says the Sox are refocusing their catching options on Montero instead of Salty. Outlines the prospects that could be in play, but likely no Buchholz, which would have been too big a steal to contemplate. Puts Bowden and Bard out as probable trade candidates.
Peter Gammons is a part of the talk, as well, which may add some weight to it’svalidity. Of course, talks with Veritek would have to fall through for any of this to happen I think.
With the addition of Skelton and the extention to Snyder, we sure do seem heavy in catching. Of course, catching is probably like pitching in that you can never have enough of it...if it's good.
