I live in Pa have Direct Tv and get Comcast east which most of you know broadcasts the Redskins preseason games. For whatever reason they black the games out and I can't figure out why. Redskins games have been sold out forever so I know that's not the reason. If worse come to worse I'll watch the rebroadcast on NFL Network.

Do you know why they're blacked out?

Is there a way for me to see it tonight?

"I knew when we played in San Francisco (the final game of the 2008 regular season) that that was going to be my last game for the Redskins," Evans said. "You see how they operate in free agency, and I'm not the kind of guy they value. Guys like me, Ryan Clark, Antonio Pierce, guys who start at the bottom and work their way up, they don't keep those guys around. So, I never, never thought I would be coming back to Washington.

Players to fit the Scheme vs Scheme to fit the Players

What did Redskins fans expect going into this season, that Jason Campbell and the rest of the offense would be running on all cylinders?

Here's what I know, Jason Campbell is not built to run the WCO. He's a 5-7 step drop, long delivery, deep throwing off play action quarterback. Look at past WCO QB's and see if any of them are similar in style to Campbell: Montana, Steve Young, Jeff Garcia, Farve, McNabb, Rich Gannon. When I look at all these names I think quick deliveries and high tempo offenses. I hate to say this but Campbell is probably more suited to run Gibbs' offense then Zorn's.

Here's where it went all wrong:

We have an owner that doesn't have football smarts and makes football decisions without a GM. So he brings in a new coach, with a new scheme and doesn't think done the line on how it will effect his QB that he gave up 3 fucking draft picks for. Look at the successful Owners in the NFL and you'll se the opposite of what Snyder does. I like that Snyder was a Redskins fan before he became the owner and that he desperately wants to see our team win, but all I see is your heart was in the right place but Dan your pissing in my wheaties and need to go away sooner rather then later. The only owner who gets away with this is Jerry Jones and I think that's because he's got football sense.

So what now? It's hard to see my team struggle and I'll maintain my fervent passion for them but seeing them sabotage by the owner is hard to stomach every year.

Shawn Springs a game-time decision for Thursday

[Note by Skin Patrol, 09/02/08 5:24 PM EDT ] Promoted, edited very slightly. Shawn Springs is a gametime decision and I hope this isn't one of those injuries that just lingers on and on and on and on. Stay tuned.

The Redskins Insider reporting on more doom and gloom.

X-rays of Shawn Springs' leg (which swelled after he was kicked in practice Monday) were negative and the team said he has a bruised calf. He's likely to be a game-time decision Thursday, a la Jason Taylor.

That's just freaking great. It's not good enough that our offense is banged up, but now our starting CB is a game-time decision as well. Our defense better get a pass rush on Eli Manning or it could be a very long evening. I wonder if the team might take a look at FA CB Ricky Manning Jr.; It is this blogger's opinion that we can't count on our very young depth in the secondary to be able to hold other teams WR's at bay (ED Note: especially this early in the season). They need Springs' wisdom back in the secondary, along with his talent.

[Note by Skin Patrol, 09/02/08 11:05 AM EDT ] Promoted, edited slightly, enjoy. I'm going to be a lot better at promoting things now that I've a) returned to a schedule of some normalcy b) the season is back.

via iris.nyit.edu

Well people the preseason has finally come to an end and the NFL was smart enought to lead off the regular season with the best team in the land: Your Washington Redskins. Taking everything we've seen in the offseason, OTA's, and presesason what are we to surmise as to how our team will do?

Things that are positive going into the season:

We have good talent on both sides of the ball

Great coaching staff that players have bought into

We play the NFC West

Great homefield advantage

Good to possibly great D

Things that are negative going into the season:

We play in the toughest division in the L (slang for league. I have massive street cred) (ED Note: No comment)

New Coach + New scheme= FAIL

Injury woes

Depth chart at WR,LB,OL

It's futile to try and pick each game the Redskins might win or lose because what makes the NFL great is that you just never know who is going to come out on top. I will say this, 3 out of our first 5 games are against the NFC East and they're all away games. If we can go 2 for 3 in those we will be cooking with gas! Per the naked eye the other games in that span look winnable.

CptChaosSidekick's non kool aid outlook(s) for '08

Offense picks up WCO, injuries kept to minimum- 10-6- WildCard

Opposite of that- 8-8

I am however 100% sure to go apeshit should we piss games away like last year.

(ED Note: Poll attached involving CptChaosSidekick's predictions.)

DE Jason Taylor probably wont play against the Giants this Thursday and as Coach Zorn said, we'd rather have him for 15 games rather then 1. Our defense is pretty solid so this isn't my main concern.

What really scares the piss out of me is our situation at wideout. For some reason no one really seems to be concerend that ARE has a broken bone in his hand. My sourses tell me that hands are important to the position of wide recever. Yesterday the Redskins Insider ran a blogpost on how ARE is expected to start. Expected gee I hope so! Say he does play, we can only effectively run 3WR sets. Malcolm Kelly is 2 weeks away and there are concerens that Devin Thomas is afraid of contact. Both are a long ways away from contibuting to the offense. Anyone think that Zorn might run some sort of 2TE 2WR set with either Cooley or Fred Davis lined up wide?

Are we to think that Jason Campbell's bad play is due to poor O-line performance or struggling to pick up the WCO? I'd guess not having enough time to throw is the culprit...that is also what I'm hoping for. Campbell's INT last week was dissected by the master of chalk talk, John Madden. During the play Jason had Cooley open on a 5-7yd over the middle throw, Campbell decided to throw a deeper pass into coverage that got tipped and picked. I'm sure Coach Zorn and Campbell had quality time in the film room after that.
Most of my worries are on the offensive side of the ball. How do you guys feel?

[Note by CptChaosSidekick, 08/31/08 1:38 PM EDT ]Redskins Insider reports RB Marcus Mason has signed on to the Baltimore Ravens Practice Squad

Since the end of the preseason it has become evident that our O-line is having pass protection difficulties. Most notably OT Jon Jansen. Well today it was announced that OT Stephon Heyer will get the start to open the season against the Giants this Thursday. The Redskins Insider reports:

Heyer said he learned from his experience starting last season and feels he is ready. "It's the same concepts, just a different day," Heyer said. He said the coaches did not inform him whether the move is permanent because Jansen is dealing with a sprained foot. "I don't know really, I'm just going to take it as they want me to start this Thursday and I'll go from there," Heyer said.

Although Heyer say he doesn't know if this is a long term answer at OT because Jansen is sufering from a spained ankle, QB Jason Campbell might know something Heyer doesn't.

"is a difficult situation because of how long he's been in there and what he's meant to this offense,"

Sounds like the coaching staff wants to go in another direction. I like Jansen as a leader in the locker room but the reality is that alone wont keep you on the field. Heyer on the other hand was impressive last year as an undrafted FA and has shown good upside and hopfully will be a staple of better O-line play this season.

The practice squad was announced and is follows:

CB Byron Westbrook
WR Horace Gant
OL Andrew Crummey
CB Matteral Richardson
TE Tyler Ecker
LB Curtis Gatewood
OL Devin Clark
FB Nehemiah Broughton

I've argued that keeping four RB's on an active roster wasn't conducive to maximizing depth on our roster but that doesn't mean I like parting ways with RB Marcus Mason. I don't forsee Rock being on our roster next year (Redskins only offered him a mimium 1yr contract, is he going to resign for that again?) and think we should've gone with the younger faster Mason.

Thoughts on all these happenings?
