The Turfie Awards
Hey guys- most of you aren't familiar with me. I don't post or comment that often, but I have read this site religiously for the last 2 years or so. For my money it's the best place on the 'net for Rams coverage.
Seeing as though I read the site all the time, I feel pretty familiar (and unbiased) when it comes to the writing, posting, and commenting of all you regular TSTers. Ergo, I have decided, that in honor of the upcoming draft, and a new era in Rams football- I will hand out my own personal TURFIE AWARDS to you awesome members of the TST community. In the very least, I was just hoping to get our minds off the draft and the irritable ennui that comes with the territory. Without further ado: THE 1st ANNUAL CrazyEyesKilla Turfie Awards......

Van- thanks for creating this community. Thanks to all the writers and posters who make it the best place on the nets for Rams info and discussion. Believe me, I've been to 'em all. Let's all be thankful that we have a classy bunch of folks running our beloved TST, and let's remain hopeful and optimistic that this franchise is headed for great things.
PS- I'm sure there are bunch of awesome members of the community I'm forgetting that deserve their own award. Feel free to give an award to yourself. But remember, it's all in good fun.
You guys rule. Go Rams.

Something's Rotten in RamsPark
I know that the FO has publicly said they haven't been given any serious financial constraints due to ownership change, but come on- seriously?
Our beloved Rams are the worst team in the league. Shouldn't the worst team be making the biggest effort to improve? I'm not saying we should have paid Julius Peppers a billion dollars to spend the twilight of career on IR, but the thing that troubles me is that we weren't even in the conversation for most of the impact FAs.
Wasn't it convenient that San Diego finally tendered Sproles, then it leaks that the Rams had a visit scheduled for him? Is it bothering anyone else that we don't have a tight end? Or a defensive end for that matter? Or a cornerback (if fletcher bradley doesn't miraculously recover)?
The only thing I can figure is that Billy, Kevin et al have been given specific under-the-table instructions to spend zilch on off season deals. I'm not a financial wizard, or schooled on the paperwork involved with buying an NFL franchise, but something's very fishy about the lack of action, and the amount of talk.
I think they've been handcuffed. And the lack of spending so far has got to be a clear signpost telling us all that there is NO FREAKIN' WAY that they are going to spend first pick money on any position other than QB.
Hear that? That's the sound of the dream of a defense to fear for years to come flushing down the toilet.
"Here's to the future!"
Hey guys- I know we're all itching for the draft and free agency to get here, and the ennui is starting to set in- but I still can't help but find myself fantasizing about 2010 Opening Day.
I personally believe that our (limited) options, and moves in FA will dictate our draft strategy. If we stage a coup and land a guy like Kampman or trade for Osi- then I think we should go all offense in the early rounds (Bradford, Best, etc). If we get a serviceable QB or WR then go with D (Suh, Muckleroy). Anything could happen at this point, I suppose. Trades, trading down, weird combine drama...
So, I put it to you TSTers: I want to crank up the DeLorean and go into the future. I want to see predictions for Opening Day starters. Take into account any variable you want (trades, draft, injuries) and give me something to mull over in my excited brain. The only rule- if you get called out on it, be able to defend your picks. Who knows? Maybe someone will get it (close to) right, and the very least, we might be able to have a good laugh come August.
If you have a prediction on who might own our beloved Rams come fall, then feel free to throw that in for good measure.
Let's see some starting lineups!
