Anthony Spencer: 'Almost' No Longer?

Having seen the main offseason phases of free agency and the draft come and go, the one thing that seems to be true is that the Cowboys have, at least on paper, improved their secondary...

My New Pet Cat...

I strongly believe that we need ILB depth and because of that, this is my new pet cat. He hasn't gotten much hype but Mychal Kendricks is an absolute stud. Let's break it down: 39.5" vertical (best of LBs at combine) 10'7" broad jump (best of LBs at combine) 4.19 Short Shuttle (5th best of combine) - Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2011 - 98 tackles, 3 sacks, 2 INTs in 2011 - 63 tackles, 8.5 sacks, 1 INT in 2010 (played as OLB for Cal) This guy is the exact type of player we need. He would provide ILB depth as an exceptional athlete (perhaps better than Bruce Carter) and a guy with experience as a pass rusher for Cal. Rob Ryan would enjoy getting to innovate with Mychal Kendricks. So, gentlemen and gentlewomen, here is my new pet cat and someone who I am sure is going to be your pet cat soon.

If you are going to use $8M on a stop-gap at OLB..

If Dallas really is intent on not letting Butler take over at SOLB, I would much rather see them go after John Abraham than franchise Spencer. The guy got double digit sacks last year with almost no support and could be our Greg Ellis. He might be expensive but it beats franchising Spencer. If you are interested in Abraham, Raf just put up a post on his site about him and PFF has some nice things to say bout him.

Cowboys Looking to Extend Ratliff's Contract

I have to admit I am kind of torn about this situation. On the one hand I definitely want to see Ratliff be a Cowboy for life type of player. On the other though, his numbers have been declining and it's still unclear how he fits into Ryan's defense and how much longer he can put off a full time move to DE. Hopefully Jay, who wants to be a Cowboy himself, can save Jerry from himself and negotiate a reasonable extension that keeps him in Dallas without killing our cap.

My 2011 Dallas Cowboys Offseason Guide

This past MNF game has left me in a pretty depressed state. The Cowboys not only lost but also saw Tony Romo go down for the majority of the season that remains. As such, the season is more or less...
