I really want to see what everybody predicted for the 2011 season and then, of course, compare that to the fiasco what went down in twenty-aught-'levin. Can anybody find this Fanpost? There may...

Is there a "highlights of the Royals 2011 season" video out there?

Or does the MLB really crack down on that type of thing? If so, I think it hurts them more than helps them. Regardless, is searching for them at MLB.com the only way to find clips of such...

OT: "At The Songs" with Crooow -- Episode I

3

This one's called "Raisans" by Dinosaur Jr. This is a performance of theirs on 120 Minutes (an heretofore forgotten, yet no longer necessary, showcase of 'indie and/or alternative' music back when that distinction meant, at the very least, more than nothing). What Dinosaur Jr. accomplished that no one else did was amalgamating the nuances of a cult-like music movement (punk) with heavy metal pop of the 80s. The result is a colon-shaking, dick-melting pastiche of garage band rock along with a quality that can only be described as lo-fi 80s college rock.

OT: Post a good TV opening theme song video from yesteryear!

5

This is "High Feather," an educational program for 5-9 graders from the early 80s. It was a New York Public Television-funded show that was picked up by PBS on a national scale. I'm guessing at least SOME of you remember it, right? I used to watch it as a kid, on the summer mornings/afternoons that I didn't get to go to the Baldwin, KS city pool, and LOVED LOVED loved that theme song. I can't get enough. I wish I could see a complete live set of THAT band in 1979 Madison, WI. I'm fucking serious.

OT: "A Universe From Nothing" -- video of a lecture by a prominent cosmologist

3

This is an hour-long seminar by a cosmologist that, as the title indicates, purports to explain how a universe such as ours can give birth to itself "from nothing." The guy is very charismatic, yet is a staunch atheist (Richard Dawkins introduces this speaker)...a belief-system to which academic types are wont to adhere. I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture, yet this narcissist doesn't even address the question implicit in the title: what fomented existence? To me, this seems to be reflective of a (marginally) clever tendency of these types to augment and finesse the question into something more answerable by their field's dogma. In short, my contention is that this guy and Dawkins and their ilk can say all they want about the big bang, and how the universe started. Go ahead, smart guys. But when they try to infer knowledge from evidence of The Big Bang about what led up to The Big Bang, they're talking extra-field. That is, once a scientist starts talking about what happened before The Big Bang, they're speaking in philosophical terms. DISCLOSURE: I am not a religious person.
