Ronnie Brown & Injuries
I was talking with a friend (huge Steelers fan) regarding our Teams.
told him that I really LOVE ronnie but the RB situation to me is pretty tricky
Ronnie, in his last year, injuries
Ricky, last year / about to retire
Cobbs, injuries, feature back but not the future solution, special teams
Hilliard, unknown, showed flashes and didnt get the job done both in the past, special teams ace
Sheets, has exactly the atlethic skills we lack at that position, change of pace, unknown between the tackles runner
and the biggest problem.... we have to cut a player whom we could use next season
the most interesting point was brought up by Mr Steelers....regarding Ronnies Injuries... he told me that he doesnt think calling Ronnie Brown injury prone is fair... because, lets face it.... last 3 years.... I doubt there is another RB who saw more 8-9 men boxes then Brown = more people/less space = higher risk of injuries. The knee injury he suffered was because of a fkd up play.
The addition of Brandon Marshall, and the progress of a strong armed QB (Henne) means that future RBs will see less people in the box and have more space to operate.
I think we should resign Ronnie to a 2-3 year deal to a fair deal and let him know that he might be the main guy, might be not and develope a young rb with more speed.
behind our enormous oline and the new passing attack... i dont think we need 2 huge power backs - and a homerun threat would be the perfect fit
there is a chance that Sheets can be that guy, based on his abilities - best case scenario, we are somehow able to get Mark Ingram out of Bama in a draft day (all in move up trade)
Other dream scenario for next season would be to trade with Carolina for DeAngelo Williams.

upcoming Free Agency and Draft
if you think the Tuna Express did a good job...you are wrong.
compare the depth chart from 2 years ago with the one from this year.
W-O-W
we are about 300 years younger and talent increased about 5000%
we are reeeeaaallly heading the right direction and i always feel like kicking some ass if I read stupid comments like trade for Boldin, Trade for TJ etc etc.
I love that we use the Draft to build and just use FA for missing pieces or players who are hard to find during the draft (at least we try - Wilford, not sold on Wilson yet)
We dont get much love from the NFL and media but who cares they gonna kiss our ass soon enough. Only thing we lack to become a elite (top) team are a few playmakers.
my perfect 2010 offseason plan:
Free Agency
San Diego is dump enough to not resign Vincent Jackson - Welcome to Miami No. 1
Dallas struggles to resign Ware and burns all the cap space so Miles Austin tests FA.
+ Vincent Jackson
+ Miles Austin
(one of the mentioned above would be already great, even if its just Austin)
by the way im not a bandwagon type and im not screaming Austin because of the KC game, i was asking for him last offseason but i understood that the RFA status and a 2nd rounder is too pricey.
DRAFT
please correct me if im wrong, what i read is that we gave up a 5th rnd for Thigpen, KC owns us their 6th and 7th. Satele Trade: swap 4th Rnd + 6th Rnd (gread great deal).
1
2
3
4 OAK
6 KC
6
7 KC
1st Rnd:
if we can address the WR need in FA we can add playmakers on defense im very high on FS Taylor Mayes, his size and speed are insane and he would give us a solution for the atlethic TE we seem to struggle. OR ILB Spikes, we could have a nice Gators ILB duo with Crowder and Spikes, we could increase our already very physical LB Corps and have one mean hard hitting duo.
2nd Rnd:
TE (tweener WR/TE) to stretch the field. Im confident Fasano will progress with Henne under cetner and OLine progressing in pass protection, i like Haynos a lot, that dude is 6'8 and 270 pounds, its like an additional Lineman out there plus hes not bad in the passing game. Upgrade and versitility still would be fun. OR RB, the Pineapple express aint getting younger. Ricky is still a force and about Ronnie we dont even need to talk. I would love to add a change of pace back who still is lil physical.
3rd Rnd: Fergy still brings it, and i like how Soliali is coming along. This here is delicat, if we bring in a young NT that might either progress or regress Soliali. I also like McDaniels a lot, feel like he was a steal for a 7th Rnd. OR CB i dont like the production and the game we get from our Nickel spot, i expect Will Allen to take over that position soon but Will getting in the ages too. OR a young physical Center to learn from Groves who is doing a tremendous job and really starts to pay off.
4th Rnd: Depth and upgrade at OG position. Murphy definately got outplayed by Thomas (no wonder Thomas is a beast). If i imagine that Smiley would go down ooouuuuchhh. With his injury history i would look for a talent at this point
later draft picks:
another OG, i like that if we have a need we bring in more then just 1 rookie for that position so you get a 2:1 chance to fill that need.
OLB : im a fan of Matt Roth, if he can come back and continue the play from last season we ll be very very fine. Porter on the other side if healthy got 2 maybe 3 good season left. Roth and Wake on strong side. Porter and Rookie on the other side. If Anderson doesnt progress i could see us picking OLB much earlier. Jason Taylor is one of my all time fav. dolphins but i dont like his play this season too much. Im curious to see if his production goes up when he doesnt have to play every down but i just feel like he doesnt have enough speed anymore. we dont need to talk about his technic skills but speeeeeed.
