A Match Made in Heaven?

The first half of the month of March has proven to be franchise changing, It was on March 12,2012 as Joe Lacob was about to pull the trigger on the trade that would send Andrew Bogut to the GSW that the alignment of Venus and Jupiter began to make sense, In a rare and spectacular planetary alignment in the first 15 days of March Venus and Jupiter appeared together within degrees of each other as if to say Bogut and Lee is a match made in heaven.
Then on March 13th 2012 at approximately 7 PM, PST, the planets continued to appear in the night sky together as Bogut was traded to the GSW to be aligned with Lee as a sign of brighter things to come.
And while Venus and Jupiter were still illuminating and as the trade dead line was passing on March 15th 2012 a finale sign in the night sky came to light, It was MerCury appearing on the horizon being slightly obscured in the shadow of the Sun, the interpretation was clear, Curry was looking directly at his two biggs in the center of the key (picture below) with both Klay (Apollo) and Rush (Odysseus) on each side poised to shoot.
So on this date 3/15/2012, Andrew Bogut, David Lee and Stephen Curry will forever be linked to Venus Jupiter and Mercury; and will go down in basketball mythology as the aligning of the planets that changed the landscape in the west once and for all.
The basketball gods have looked down and have bequeathed their blessings on the trade that even made the "Big Dipper" (WC) smile upon the little dipper (Curry), oh alas alas, the "golden ones" have finally got the pieces in place to change the western hemisphere and bring in the new golden age of basketball for all those who travel by Ferry and by Bart and those who crisscross the bridges to gather at Mount Olympus on Coliseum Way near the golden City by the bay.
Yes something was brewing in Wisconsin and it wasn’t just the hops, it was the beginning of the cultural revolution in the west, and now not only will the bay never be the same but also the western conference will never be the same, for although the Son of Australia arose in the east he now sits in the west, yes the bay it be a changen!
With the departure of our beloved Ellis our back-court just got bigger by degrees, and the Bucks backcourt will now come to be known as T&T, the tiny tots of Wisconsin…No disrespect intended.
Also with the addition of Bogut our front-court has now grown by epic proportions, as if we grew up overnight, and so with the departure of "Montay ball" one of the last remnants of Don Nelson’s traveling Circus has finally comes to a close, we will miss the man on the flying traipse as he now gets to do his high wire act in Buckland palace, gone @ Mount Olympus will be the ooohs and ahhhs of the crowd as they watched each pirouette sitting spellbound even though another "O" was in the making, how strange it was that seeing the magnificent one whirling and spinning our senses were numbed and masked to the pain of losing, yes Monta was the beautiful poppy that exuded it’s opium at MT Olympus..
Only Bozo remains with his big floppy feet, will he now take off his bronzer and his big red nose? Or will Mr.16% fade into oblivion? perhaps we should have keep Tinker Bell and amnestied the Latvian sharp shooter!! only the shadow knows for sure!
The FO was able to pull off a franchises changing trade that will erase years of past incompetence and bring new beginnings….
We will always wonder "what if" and what could have been had we landed Adonis (Howard) but perhaps a young Apollo can help us forget what could have been as the magnificent one once said "it is what it is"
Bogut also known by the Roman’s as Vulcan and by the Greeks as Hephaestus was once cast down from Mt Olympus and suffered a deformation to his leg/ankle along with a broken wrist and elbow, but Zeus has looked upon him and has raised him up to go to war with Lee who is also known by the Greeks as "Ares" because of his lack of popularity while at the same time being a fierce Warrior, and although he has been attacked by Zombies poisoned by a Nash in PX yet he stands as strong as Hercules, and now joined by MerCury and a young Apollo the golden ones are ready to go forth and conquer.
The compass is pointing due north and once again the morning stars have come together, the long winter of our discontent is past, Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon, Who is already sick and pale with grief and let the games begin !!

Shout Out to David Lee
via i.imgur.com
This is to let D Lee know that as a "Warrior" he is appreciated for both what he does on the floor as well as his demeanor and what he does off the floor.
When I read this snippet by Marcus Thompson, I found his statement to be so Lee-esque and fitting to the type of person he is, here in the midst of utter chaos with every players name being bandied about as trade bait he comes forth as the voice of reason and in one stroke quails all the anxiety and what could be a disastrous position between the players and the FO.
David Lee:
"I won't be surprised if we do something, but I love our team the way it is," Lee said. "There's a big difference between doing something that makes sense and doing something just to say you did something.
"We all appreciate that our front office is being active and trying to make us better. It's nice to feel like they have the same passion that you do."

Awe, yes, "¶ A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver" in one statement he complements all the other players and brings a voice of caution to the FO about making a move that would make sense and not to make a move just to make one, and then keeps from alienating himself and the players by saying the FO shares the same passion for the game that they do while acknowledging that they are only trying to improve the team… priceless…
Also kudos to the under appreciated much maligned Lee for always leaving everything out on the court, you can fault him and say his rebounds don’t come at the right times or that his defense is lacking but I have watched him play some stellar defense the last couple of games while gathering critical rebounds and crucial points in the much needed wins over Dallas and the Clips when it counted the most.
What I like about him is he sees himself a Warrior and a team guy and although he’s not the strongest or fastest guy on the court he makes the most of his talents.
He’s a heady player, has a great feel for the game, and is the one player that seems to have chemistry with all the other players, weather it’s setting scenes, the give and go or the screen and pop, playing with his back to the rim to drive and dish, I love the way he gets to the open spot on the floor when Monta drives waiting for him to either pass of finish…
He’s constantly asked to cover the opposing center and never complains, never causes friction, he does what he’s asked to do without grumbling, this is what NY loved about him, he is a student of the game and works hard on and off the court to be a character guy…
For all the crap that Lee gets he continues to hold his head up high and give it his all, we’re lucky to have a player of his character and caliber, one thing that’s hard to measure is the size of a persons heart, and this is why I believe Lee got his big contract, because he has a lot of heart, and he can’t be faulted for that, we signed him for 80 mil and as far as I can see he is not a disappointment, give the man a real Center to play alongside and I believe his game will get even better.
In NY he had to play a lot of C, and he did it without moaning or begrudging the team, he did whatever they asked of him and never complained, what’s that worth? And what’s wrong with a 20/10 guy anyway?
I believe Lee definitely can be one of your core three guys that you can win a championship with, but not without a bonafide big man in the middle, If possible it may behoove the Warriors to wait until this summer and go after a FA…because with an anchor in the middle right now this team makes the playoffs…
We need to focus on being a perennial playoff team and upgrade year by year until something magical happens, I would love to see this group of guys with the addition of a big and if we can upgrade at any position then fine, but I don’t think its time to blow the team up until we have a chance to see what they can do with a legit big man in the middle.
And lastly, We don’t need to make a move out of desperation and set the franchises back again, this is a critical time, and should be something that has the most positive effect on the team in terms of X/O’s and not just a move to try and save face for the accruing stupid moves of our front office, such as the wasted amnesty on Bell, letting JLin go for 270,000 off our Cap for a deal that was never going to work in the first place and for allowing the protection to come off our 2012 draft pick. Not counting passing up on Monroe for Udoh.
If we make the playoffs this year with the core group of guys we now have we will be seen as one or two pieces from being able to go deep into the playoffs…a lot depends on Curry and how healthy he is….
But as far as recognizing the efforts and the heart of David Lee and of him feeling appreciated in Oaktown, and looked upon as a real Warrior who could potentially have his number retired in the W’s rafters someday, may this thread act as a "Shout Out" for all the hard work and effort he gives without complaining for his team the GSW…
Rock on my man, We see the effort and you are appreciated..

Curry Coming of Age
It’s been a long time coming but I know woah woah,a change gonna come, oh yes it will!!!!
Last night we got the fist glimpse of things to come when Curry refused to give Monta the ball on several possessions, it was a message loud and clear that Curry will no longer tolerate Monta’s unspoken demand for the ball along with his prima donna attitude…
What did Monta do? He put his hands on his hips and let his back bone slip and refused to work out ! yes, standing there staring down Curry for not giving him the ball, as if to say, then fine I'm not gonna do anything..
This has been the problem with Curry from day one, he knew that Monta was a preemie and didn’t want to upset the apple cart, I was hoping for the good of the team that Monta could recognize that Curry was the better player and he needed Monta to help him, but Monta (Kobe JR) looked at Curry as a threat to his position as the main man, this is why I think Curry made most of those lazy passes…because he didn’t want to look like he was taking charge because of Monta tender toes…
Ellis has had this kid under his thumb the whole time singing his praises because of fear that it will cause a lot of locker room tension, something clicked in Curry last night and he now knows that Monta is not the big dog on the block that he thinks he is and Curry will no longer put up with his ego..It's about time! Could this be the real reason Monta stormed out of the locker room last night and refused to talk to reporters, oh the times they are a changing !!
The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.
Steph says:
Then I go to my brother (Monta)
And I say "brother, help me please"
But he winds up knocking me
Back down on my knees
Steph says:
There been times that I thought I wouldn't last for long
Now think I'm able to carry on
It's been a long, along time coming but I know
A change gon' come, oh yes it will

Warrior Woes
It would be really easy to blame the players for the teams lack of success and bring out the advanced stats and pin point all their weakness or limited skill sets etcetera, but we have to remember MJ said we’re a no excuse team!
After all didn’t we have a “change of culture”, I can still hear the infamous words of Mark Jackson bouncing off the bay bridges which seemed to give the W fans a glimmer of hope saying, “The bay will never be the same” he and his posse said they were coming to rock the bay! and by god they have!
We’re rocking in the bay alright, reeling to and fro, cresting every wave as we’re aimlessly drifting headlong into the perfect storm!! Oh yeah MJ came in saying, old King Kong aint got nothing on him, pfft pfft, why he’s the man up in these here parts!!
Well so much for hyperbole, and all those contractual promises, if you listen close enough you can here then as you flush the toilet and that last bit of water gurgles down the drain..
I think the blame for the way this team is playing lies squarely on the shoulders of MJ and his posse, not in the fact that the team is losing, but in the way the team is losing…
They look like a badly coached team, they have little cohesion, they have no ball movement and haven’t made any adjustments since Curry’s been out of the line up…
If I didn’t know better it looks like MJ stole Smarts playbook, which is give the ball to Monta and watch him walk it up the floor and for the most part jack up shots with an occasional crowd pleasing drive to the bucket..
I seem to recall MJ saying this team was not like the last years W’s, and he was right, last year we could at lest score more than 75 or 80 points…
So here is a short list of my observations that directly reflect on the coach:
1) The use of time outs, he will wait until a lead is either gone or almost gone before he calls a time out to stop the team from spiraling downward, a good coach can spot a change in momentum and use a time out to stop the damage..
2) His sticking with non productive starters that are mired in shooting slumps or just not being productive, as if he owes them the job, or if he starts another player it’s going to hurt their confidence…it appears to me he’s coaching from a players position not coaching from a position of strength and doing what’s best for the team..
3) He don’t recognize that some players are rhythm players, if you give them spotty minutes they can’t get into a good rhythm…Klay for a case in point..
4) Staying with a player in crunch time that don’t deserve to be in the game because of poor play, case in point tonight, Nate, who was out of synch, his shots weren’t dropping and his ball handling was shaky, there was a possession late that he kept Nate and McGuire in at a critical possession coming out of a time out when he could have brought in Klay for his size and outside shot…
5) Little or no creativity in crunch time, the team looks ill prepared with no cohesion, yes we had one good play with Dlee the other night but outside of that it’s been the Monta show….MJ just gives him the keys to the family jewels and lives and dies by his lousy clock management and one on one play…
6) He allows Monta as a PG to walk the ball up court and waits until the defense is set before he either jacks up a shot or uses up valuable time on the clock with very little ball movement…If MJ were any kind of coach he would have him pass up court and try to get some early offense with time to get the ball to the hot hand, which Monta hardly ever looks for…not a smooth running offense at all..
The lack of ball movement is systemic of not being coached properly, it all falls back on Mark Jackson, not his assistants or the players but on him because of his lack of making the right rotations or changes necessary to insure those things don’t happen..
The honeymoon is over, It’s time for earnest and honest evaluation of the way he’s running the team, It don’t look any different than Smart with a worse winning %…
Let the discussion begin, It’s disappointing to say the lest to see new ownership with promises of grandeur and then hire a rookie coach that seems to be overwhelmed and doesn’t know how to take charge.

A Different Perspective
I posted this in one of the threads, but think it may make for a better discussion..we need to see the bigger picture.. Post: How many rings did Paul and TC win with NO? how many teams won a NBA title in the modern era with a superstar PG? Kid is way over his prime and can’t be considered a superstar any longer.. The main ingredient for an NBA title is mostly a dominant big man with a dominant 2guard, add to that a decent a defensive minded Center and an athletic SF and you have an ingredient for success… Our problem is neither TC or Lee are superstars, If we had a superstar C then we could afford to have Lee at PF, If we had a Sup at PF then we could get by with a TC at C.. Even with TC we don’t yet have the ingredients to make it to the big dance…it might be an entertaining team to watch but without a dominant big or a Michael Jordan it’s going to still be hard to even make it into the playoffs… Curry is a better than average PG and all you need to get to the finals, it’s those other positions we need to upgrade. I realize TC is maybe our best option to be respectable right now but it’s not a blockbuster move.
Case For Marc Gasol
Lets bring some sensibility to this FA market, were not going to get Nene without giving him a max deal, at the age of 29 never been an All star he’s way overrated, Djordan has work ethic issues, we don’t have the pieces to make a run at Superman but we do have an asset to try and land a big man.
The Ellis/Curry experiment has been a failure for many reasons, size/defense etc, but the biggest problem is the chemistry between Ellis and Curry…
Curry will never develop as the floor leader he was meant to be as long as he’s playing alongside of Ellis, I think ME is a special player and one of the most exciting in the game….but he takes to much away from Curry’s game….
So the best possible trade in my opinion is to try and make a deal with Memphis to acquire Gasol,
He’s 7’1 270, 26 years old and has an underrated BBIQ, he would work well with Lee who also has a very good BBIQ, factor that in with the emergence of Mark Jackson and Curry’s game will flourish.
Add to that his 2.5 assists with close to 2 blocks his ability to be a double double guy with good hands makes for a pretty heady nucleus to build around, It may not be the “BIG THREE” but it’s a start in the right direction…
Without Ellis we lose some athleticism and scoring so we should be looking for another 2 until we see what we have with Klay…
My question is do we have a realistic chance to get Gasol? Can West work his magic? Does Bob M have any pull? And how bad does Memphis want Ellis? What are the ramifications contractually?
The naysayer might whine over defense but I think Marc is an adequate defender, not everyone is “Superman”
The ball movement with Gasol, Lee with Curry leading the way will be exciting…
Don’t forget beggars can’t be choosers!! take Gasol and thank your lucky stars all you little leprechauns....
PS I should of posted this as a FanShot, but it didn't work...
Is Rick Barry the Answer?

He is franchises royalty, energetic, innovative, a true basketball guru, for me he would bring back the feelings I had that caused me to fall in love with the game in the first place, how we played together as one and so majestically beat all the powerhouses to take home the trophy..
Of all the candidates none of them come with more pedigree that Rick, he was a coach on the floor and drove his teammates to achieve the unthinkable, an NBA championship, a team that Alvin Attles put together with Rick as his centerpiece and role players around him.
Al was brilliant because he recognized the magic that was taking place with Rick being the leader on the floor, he was one of the most fierce competitors to ever play the game, he not only beat you with his skill sets but mentally, he was a very cerebral player, able to recognize your weakness, very methodic in his execution…
It’s time the new generation of Warrior fans get to know the enigma that is Rick Barry, I would love nothing more than for the new owners to at lest bring in Rick for an interview….I think it would show class for this organization to show some props to arguably the greatest GSW of all times Rick Barry…the man with the “Golden Gun”
I realize Rick was not well liked by some teammates because of being brash and a no nonsense guy, he played almost conceded, with a chip on his shoulder, even arrogant at times, a pouter, yet I loved watching that conceded arrogant pouter play the game..
With age comes wisdom, and this is where Rick is at right now, he understands the game, his BBIQ is through the roof, nothing would be greater than for him to be given a chance to lead this team to the promise land…
Bring back the days of glory and vote for Rick!
