Updated: Marlins marketing department continues to take cheap shots at the Cubs
"MIAMI -- When the Marlins sent a marketing department intern out to the field at Land Shark Stadium with a billy goat during the game Friday night against the Cubs, manager Lou Piniella couldn't believe what he was seeing.
"Tasteless," he said. "When we come here they always have some gimmick that basically doesn't make any sense. I don't know who dreams of these things ... When they come to Chicago, we don't have fried marlin.
"Just play baseball." "
Chicago Tribune.
This was in Sullivan's column, I read this and wasn't surprised and pissed at the same time. Last year they played goat noises over the P.A. system and had a goat pop up on the video board when the Cubs were up at bat. Unbelievably classless and disrespectful. This is why I loathe the Florida Marlins after things like this. Arizona did this too in the '07 playoffs. They had a goat outside the park before the game, brought it in with a guy dressed up like Bartman sitting next to him. They got added to my shit list real quick after that stunt. It just goes to show little of class these small time organizations don't have. Muck the Farlins I say
Disgusting. I found a picture of this bs. I wanna punch that damn mascot in the head.

OT Peavy out for at least a month with injury
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20090612&content_id=5292238&vkey=news_mlb&fext=.jsp&c_id=mlb
Now maybe just maybe we can put an end to this peavy talk. Would Jim Hendry really be stupid enough to trade for an injured guy, lets hope not. I don't like to see anyone get hurt, but maybe this will begin the downfall of San Diego and a fire sale will ensue. Kouz might be a nice addition until A-Ram gets back.

Sammy Sosa to announce retirement soon
Yoel Adames of ESPNdeportes.com is reporting that Sammy Sosa will announce his formal retirement from baseball soon. Sosa was still waiting for contract offers as recently as last Christmas. He last played in the Major Leagues in 2007, when he hit .252-.311-.468 in 454 plate appearances for the Texas Rangers. Sosa will retire sixth on the all-time career homerun list with 609.

Will always be my favorite Cub despite how he left. I still don't believe he did steroids. Until I see definitive proof I consider him clean. Hope that time will heal all wounds and he will be forgiven by those who are mad at him and one day he can be welcomed back by the franchise.

Whoever came up with this in the Cubs marketing department is pretty good. I've always said this myself the reason I put up with Chicago winters is because of what sits at Clark and Addison. Someone must've been listening to me.
Cubs game on MLB network right now
there's a cubs game on right now on mlb network from 1991, stoney and brenamen are calling, we're playing the pirates sandberg on third and we're tied two two dawsons up, check it out. Cubs took the lead before I could post, Dawson got a single. MLB network is pretty sweet, hopefully they'll show a few other Cubs games as well. I don't want to look up the score I want to know if we make it.

For all those people who want Furcal...
Rafael Furcal went 0-for-4 and committed three errors in Wednesday’s loss.
The three errors, two of which came on the same play, led to two runs in the fifth, putting the Dodgers in a 5-0 hole. Furcal went 4-for-21 and committed four errors in the series. Not that it will take much of a toll on his value, but it’s clearly not the way he wanted to head into free agency.rotoworld
Just like our four infielders in game two, he made three errors in one game plus another earlier in the series. Furcal is not the answer. For the simple fact the last few times we've brought in guys like this i.e. Juan Pierre they've been busts. I don't want to see Hendry waste money on a guy like that only to have him flop big time. He also spent the majority of this year on the DL and a couple of weeks in 07 as well.I hope Hendry doesn't go after something we don't need.
