Auburn hires Chizik

Auburn has hired Gene Chizik (he of the 10 game losing streak, 0-8 Big XII record this season) from Iowa State to coach their football team.  Chizik was the DC at Auburn from 2002-2004, and was the head coach at ISU from 2006-2007, when he had a 5-19 record.

Trackemtiger.com (The Auburn SBnation blog) is all over this story...

This means Jimbo is out of the running, and is far more likely to stick around.

Edit:  That 0-8 Big XIII record?  ISU didn't play Oklahoma, Texas or Texas Tech this season.

I wanted to focus on what I think will be a cruical matchup for the FSU-Ga Tech game: The Georgia Tech D-Line against our O-Line. This will be a very physical battle, and I truly believe that whichever side wins this batle will win the game.

So, I found a clip illustrating how physical I think that battle will be...A June 2004 Hell in a Cell match between Triple H and Shawn Michaels that went a record 47 minutes and resulted in a legit concussion for Triple H and a legit broken right hand for Michaels (which he broke punching Triple H over and over and over...). Also, Michaels's legendary back bak (he herniated two disks in Janurary of 1998 and had to retire for 4 years because of it) forced him to take a few months off because of this match.

This clip is a highlight compilation - you can find the full match on youtube if you so desire. I'd recommend it if you need to kill an hour.

Virginia Tech @ Florida State WWE Clip...

It took some time for me to come up with this clip. I decided to focus on Myron Rolle, who came in with a TON of promise (#1 player in his high school class), had some initial success, then was fairly uneven until this season, where he's been a pass-deflecting machine while stuffing the run admirably.

This is his breakout year, and I compared him to a young wrestler who had success very early in his career but then wandered the wrestling wilderness for a few years until he became a bonified main-eventer.

Let me tell you the story of Randy Orton. He's the son of Cowboy Bob Orton, and his grandfather and uncle also wrestled. He became the champ at 24 - the youngest ever. Then, after a test run with the belt, he would be an afterthough on the main event scene. Sure, he wrestled well, much like Myron played well the last two seasons, but anyone who say him KNEW that better days were ahead. Much like Myron...

Fast foward to October of 2007 (after the video was made). Orton beats Triple H in Chicago at No Mercy (I was there and it was a fantastic match) to become WWE Champion. He stayed champ until April of 2008, winning at Wrestlemania in the process. Orton has solidified his status as a superstar in every sense of the word, and I think Myron will as well, be it on a NFL gridiron or in the medical field. The sky's the limit for both Orton (who's only 28) and Myron. Both men just have to tap their endless potential.
