Coach John Fox shifts blame to Panthers' 'personnel people'

Yes, Fox is finally *starting* to speak his mind after eight seasons in Carolina. And whether you agree with the article or not, be sure to check out the URL--then tell me that Scott Fowler doesn't have a sense of humor.

Is Jimmy Clausen the future of the franchise?

At this point, it's pretty clear that the Panthers are rebuilding.  I'm sure that management talked itself into thinking that Moore was the answer at QB and we would make a playoff run, and so...

Ok, so the Panthers Are Rebuilding. Now what?

A little Preseason trivia... In 2004, Green Bay scored two offensive touchdowns during the preseason, and averaged nine points per game. They turned it around in the regular season, scoring 26.5 points per game. That was fifth best in the NFL. In 2008, Detroit had the NFL's best defense in the preseason, surrendering 6.8 points per game. The regular season was another story. They gave up 32.3 points per game when it counted, which was worst in the league. That same season, Seattle was the most prolific preseason team, averaging 25.8 points per game. But as with the Detroit defense, the regular season changed things. The Seahawks struggled on offense, 24 teams did better than their 18.4 ppg. And then there are the 2009 New York Jets. They led the league in defense after allowing just 14.2 points per game. But their preseason results weren't so great--they were 29th in the league, giving up 24 points per game.

Will Fox trust rookie WRs? Not the big question Pat Y thinks it is.

I was reading the NFC South blog over at ESPN recently when this item caught my attention: Big Question: Will Fox trust rookie WRs?.  Before I even read the article, my first thought was, "Of...

With the 89th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, the Carolina Panthers select Armanti Edwards

When news broke that the Panthers had not only selected Armanti Edwards in the third round, but that they traded next year's second for it, pundits immediately expressed outrage, shock, and...

Brandon Marshall to the Dolphins

If this trade goes through, then Denver is going to need a quality Wide Receiver. At 11, they probably won't bite on Dez Bryant, that's a little high for him and they need an inside linebacker just as bad (Rolando McClain anyone?). But now they have both the 43rd and the 45th pick, which means serious competition for any WR prospects that the Panthers may have been looking at. Between Tampa, New England, Kansas City, and Denver, don't be surprised if four of the second round favorites fall before we get a shot at them.

Armchair GM: Enjoying the draft with other people's hard work

In the first two installments here, I examined the Big Boards out on the web, and reported on what they felt the consensus prospect values were.In the second, I put that same methodology up against...

What are the mock drafts saying?

In my last post, I reviewed the big boards at several draft sites around the web.  In doing so, I kind of generated a consensus big board of the top 100 players in this year's draft. The next...

What are the big boards saying?

Scraping the bottom of the WR barrel?

Someone tell me that John Fox and Marty Hurney know what they're doing.  I know we need a blocking wide receiver who can run good routes, but it would be nice to get one who could maybe catch a...

Why the Defense will be better than you think right now

More than ever, there's no doubt who the Captain of the defense is, and it's fair to say that in 2010, it belongs to him. We're in good hands.

This will hurt the team, no doubt, but Gantt makes a compelling case that the decision has been taken out of Hurney's hands.
