Arrowhead Pride How I see the Draft

This may be obvious but it seems to me that Pioli is totally sticking with the game plan he has been talking about since he took the job last year. There is one definite similarity between all of the guys drafted up until this point. They all seem to be the most fiery competitiors in the draft. So far every draft website I've checked about these guys all says the same thing, "Leader, Hard Worker, Very Tough." All of them are known for their intangibles, and have seemed to maximize their talent. This is interesting because from everything I've read on the NT's in this draft, none has been described as a "high motor" guy. That seems to be the weakness of every last one of them, tons of talent but shows only flashes of greatness. How different is that from what Pioli and the rest are looking for? I'll be honest and say I was pretty shocked at our picks after Berry but I do know one thing, there is no way all of these guys wont come in and contribute in some way. Sure, Cam Thomas could be the next Vince Wilfork but I think he as much better odds to be a guy never heard of again. I will say I agree with our management on this, that they would take hard work over talent every day of the week and twice on sundays.

Arrowhead Pride Mock Draft

1st Round-Eric Berry FS Tennessee

The explanation to this one is simple, He's probably the best prospect in the entire draft and is virtually an Ed Reed clone. If anyone watched the Cowboys game or any Chiefs game for that matter, you would have most likely have seen Mike Brown take a horrible angle and give up a big play.

2nd Round- Jerry Hughes OLB TCU

He is as productive as any pass rusher in the draft and is made for the 3-4. He had 15 sacks last year and is on pace for another statistically dominant season

2nd Round- Mike Iupati OG Idaho

I will be honest and say that I havent had the chance to catch many Idaho games, but he is supposed to be the best guard in the draft so I'll pencil him in as our second round pick but he could go earlier.

3rd Round- Bruce Campbell OT Maryland

Big strong fast, he is probably the most physically gifted offensive lineman in the draft. He is a Junior but he may declare. He is said to be like vernon davis- all you could ask for physically but has lacked the production.

4th Round- Jacoby Ford WR Clemson

this guy is a track star and will most likely run sub 4.4 at the combine. If anyones seen the lack of speed in the Wide Receiving core then he may be the verticle threat we're looking for

5th Round- Myron Rolle SS Florida State

What can I say, I love this guy. Dude is a Rhodes Scholar and probably the smartest player in the draft. What he lacks in speed he makes up for in hard work and physicality

6th Round- LeGarrett Blount RB Oregon

he may have acted like another recently departed running back for the Chiefs but if he can run as hard as Larry did at the start of his career then I'll say its a win

7th Round- Jack Geiser LS Boston College

this guy has everything you could ask for in the long snapping department. Velocity, a very tight spiral on the football and is a team leader. This ones more of a joke because I have no Idea who we would draft as our 7th round pick but If we do take him, Geiser to Succop could go down as the greatest combination in the history of the NFL

Arrowhead Pride I'll be honest

This draft has really tested my faith as a Chiefs fan. Ive lived in Austin Texas my whole life up until going to Texas Tech University. For some reason I nor my parents could explain, Ive loved the Chiefs since I was 5. I can still vaguely remember my favorite player Joe Montana taking the field in red and gold.

I was 11 when Dick Vermeil took over the helm of the Chiefs organization. He had just won a superbowl with the Rams and was installing a high powered offense in Kansas City. With that came Trent Green and a back up running back from the Ravens who would eventually set the record for most rushing touchdowns in a season. This is really the period of my life that I became a HUGE Chiefs fan. and by huge I mean getting the NFL Sunday Ticket with my own money (which was alot when you were 13), reading everything I could about the draft and re watching games in the thought that I could better my understanding of this team Ive loved since I can remember.

Ive also been unwavering in my support of the Chiefs through the hard times of the past 15 years. When Clinton Portis had 5 rushing touchdowns. When F****** Jake Plummer would pass all over Eric Warfield and Jerome Woods. Also, who can forget the consecutive playoff losses to the Colts. The one in 2003 was easily the worst loss Ive ever experienced. we started the season 9-0. but all I can really remember is the loss to the Vikings in Minnesota when we were completely exposed as a defense. We then played the Colts at Arrowhead and couldnt stop Peyton Manning. I use the term stop loosely, since I mean we couldnt force him to get off the field the entire game. If I remember right there wasnt a punt in the entire game.

My point to this post is that Ive never felt more strongly towards a player as I have to Aaron Curry. He is a BEAST, he can play any postion on the field. I saw greatness, which is rare. And we pass on him, my favorite player to ever come through the draft. For Tyson Jackson, a guy that's supposed to be Marcus Spears. Thats terrible. TERRIBLE. I like Scott Pioli, but he failed me and all Chiefs fans this weekend.

Arrowhead Pride Cassel traded to the Chiefs

Its on the front page of nfl.com

this post has to be 75 words long so the rest is just useless thoughts

what did we give up? I will be pissed if it was a first rounder this year or in the future

I also wonder if this means Tony G or brian Waters are heading to New England and what this means for Thigpen. Im guessing there will be alot of discussions over this topic in the coming weeks

Arrowhead Pride I really dont understand this...

Couldnt we just sign Matt Cassell next year rather than trade a 1st 2nd or 3rd just so we can have him this season? Thigpen had 18 passing touchdowns in 14 games while cassell had 22 TD's in 16 games. He was on the patriots and Thigpen was on the Chiefs. If I had my say I would let Thigpen be the man this year and draft a QB next year. Oh and by the way, Cassell was sacked more than any QB last year. Mind you that was with the best offensive line in football.

And even if we do trade for Cassell, we're still gonna have to compete with every other team to resign him next year

Arrowhead Pride 2009 Draft and Free Agency

Since I see the 2009 draft class as a major down year for QB's, and we have a ridiculous amount of cap room, here are my moves for the 2009 offseason

Free agency

1. sign Chris Snee, this would help fortify the O-line and Snee is only 26

2. sign a linebacker that can actually play, we've gotten burned by LB's in the past ex. Nap Harris, Kedrell Bell. go out and sign a carlos dansby.

3. this is asking too much but Julius Peppers

I realize that the Chiefs will probably not do two out of the three options but I believe Chris Snee is the most important aquistion. If all three players hit the open market then the Chiefs should pull the trigger on one of them

Draft

I forsee us with a top 5 pick based on the play exibited on the field

1st round- Michael Other or Eugene Monroe

since our offensive line is in shambles I would be more than happy to get either one of these prospects, then we move Brandon Albert to Guard which is the position he played in college.

2nd round- Alex Mack, A quality RT, or an ILB

Ill put it simply, our O-line blows so much that it wouldnt matter who we put back there. the Chiefs have to make the Offensive Line the stable of this team like it was 5 years ago.

3rd round- Rhett Bomar

He was the top prospect for QB's coming out of Highschool, and has been good his entire college career. he is value, instead of reaching for a QB in the first round

I can see Brian waters retiring soon so that would yield us with an O-line of

LT-Michael Other LG-Bradon Albert C-Alex Mack RG-Chris Snee RT- TBA

then we sign a veteren QB like Jeff garcia and now our O-line is all potential, and have Brodie and Rhett compete for the soon to be starting job

Arrowhead Pride D Bowe

I think that after Dwayne Bowe's horrid perfomance (his stats were quality but come on, you cant drop a ball like that in the redzone) against the Pats in foxborough, he will completely tear it up this sunday against the Raiders. It would take all day to list the Raiders shortcomings (stupid penalties, horrible Offensive line, and a CB who seems to get burnt more than Will Farrell in Old School). I mean seriously, if the raider's bus got pulled over on game day and got sent to jail, I doubt they could beat the guards in Prison league football. Which brings me to my point, I think D Bowe is going to have a big rebound game against the struggling Raiders.

My fearless forecast 8 receptions, 115 yards, 2 TD's

whats your pedictions on D Bowes stats or the game in general?
