Young players making big difference
Several quotes from Grobe in here about Tanner, and playing freshman.
"Tanner Price played at the highest level in Texas at Austin Westlake," Demon Deacons coach Jim Grobe said. "They went to the state championship game at the highest level. They lost in overtime. We see the same things with kids from Georgia and Florida.
"When we get linemen lately, a lot of times they come in lifting some of the same numbers as our kids that we've had a couple of years," Grobe said. "If they have spring football, that gives them three spring football practices before he gets to your place, 15-20 practices a year. I think I saw where Tanner played before 45,000 fans in one game. A big crowd is not an issue for him."
Ish Smith Signs Contract With Houston Rockets
How great is this?
Former Wake Forest guard Ishmael Smith has signed a multi-year contract with the Houston Rockets, as announced by the team on Monday.
Smith, who graduated from Wake Forest
in May, went undrafted but received an invitation to play on the Rockets' summer league team last month in Las Vegas.
Smith impressed the team during the summer league, averaging 7.8 points and 4.8 assists per game and shooting 58 percent from the floor.
A school-record eight former Deacons are currently on NBA rosters, including four drafted or signed in the past two years.

Moore playing well in camp
Nice to see Kenny off to a good start. From http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcsouth/post/_/id/11507/early-observations-on-the-carolina-panthers
With Steve Smith sidelined for the moment, it looked like Kenneth Moore and Dwayne Jarrett were getting most of the work as the first-team receivers. The early word I’m hearing from people who’ve observed all the practices is that Moore has performed well. They’re not saying the same thing about Jarrett, who may be down to his last opportunity.
SBI MLS Rookie of the Week: Zack Schilawski
When newly-drafted forward Zack Schilawski thanked the wrong team for drafting him at the 2010 MLS Draft, New England Revolution fans figured to forgive him pretty easily. After Saturday, it's safe to say Schilawski has more than made up for it.
The Wake Forest producted notched a hat-trick on Saturday, helping the Revs post a 4-1 victory over Toronto FC. The performance earned Schilawski SBI MLS Rookie of the Week honors for MLS Week Three.
Schilawski had some competition for the honor from a familiar face. Former Wake Forest teammate Ike Opara turned in a strong match for the San Jose Earthquakes against the Chicago Fire, scoring the game-winning goal to give the Quakes a vital road victory.
