Positivity and Perspective or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love The 2012 Royals
I've spent the better part of the last 3 hours looking over stories from Royals Review, from its 2005 inception, to my joining in 2008ish, to now. I'm not sure why. (Actually, I am sure why; I have a 30+ page seminar paper due for my Hate Speech class, and I have absolutely zero desire or motivation to write it.) Regardless, in scouring many of these old stories, I have two main points to note:

Another Gem From Bleacher Report
"The Royals are on the verge of making the biggest mistake in franchise history. And that is saying something!"
"Johnny Damon for a bucket of chicken was downright embarrassing."
"The problem is young pitching rarely comes up to the Major Leagues and has immediate success. The exception to this rule is when you have established veterans on the team to help groom them and shorten the learning curve. "
We will always remember Kila's first HR of 2010....
as Billy Butler's 12th.
Pretty hilarious computerized debate between a sabermetric nerd and a "traditional numbers" guy. Has some strong language, so probably NSFW and NSFKids

A Brief Burlington Royals Recap
I'm sorry I haven't been to post a full Burlington Royals recap yet. I've been all over the place over the last few weeks. Burlington, Atlanta, Joplin, KC. I'll be back in Burlington July 12, so hopefully I can get a quality post up shortly thereafter. So far I've been to only one B-Royals game, but I have a small amount of feedback I can provide at the moment.
That said, two names to watch in Burlington after the jump:
"Alex expressed a lack of comfort at third and it was affecting his offense." -- Dayton Moore, when asked about Alex's move to left field.
The quote's a little ambiguous, but seems to imply that Gordon got moved off third at least in part because of his own lack of comfort fielding the position. Apologies if this was already posted somewhere.

Following the Burlington Royals
In a fairly unexpected turn of events for this summer, I will be interning for a district attorney's office in Burlington, North Carolina. As you may know, Burlington is home to the Royals' Rookie-level affiliate, the Burlington Royals (not to be confused with the Burlington Bees, Kansas City's Low-A affiliate).
I plan to attend every home game I can and offer my amateurish recap of each game I see. This post is meant to give some background on the B-Royals and to solicit advice on what (if any) information y'all would like about the games.

I honestly thought $25 would do it.
KENDALL ONE SHY OF MAJOR LEAGUE RECORD
Jason Kendall has opened the season with a 14-game hitting streak. Kendall is the fifth player over the last 100 years to open a season with a hitting streak of at least 14 games as a catcher. Three players opened the season with a 15-game hitting streak as a catcher: Ted Simmons for St. Louis in 1974, Tony Pena for Boston in 1990 and Victor Martinez for Cleveland in 2006. The Red Sox Birdie Tebbetts had a 14-game hitting streak to start the 1950 season.

If You Want to Look REALLY Cool at Kauffman Next Year
May I suggest you purchase this combination helmet-and-AM/FM-radio for $1.74. The site also has some Royals baby shoes (I have a problem calling them "booties") for $0.65.
Very randomly came across this while I was on Woot.
Steve Kornacki Defends Verlander Pick
Steve Kornacki defends his Cy Young pick. The brief article provides, in pertinent part:
"Verlander received my first-place vote because nobody was tougher on the mound with the season on the line for his team."
This seems like sound reasoning. I have always heard the Cy Young described as the award that goes to the toughest pitcher on the mound down the stretch with the season on the line.

Mark Teahen to ChiSox for Getz, Fields
He's finally gone. Thoughts?
Here's video of Greinke pitching in the first inning of yesterday's game.
From ESPN's desertfan:
"Here are clips from Tuesday's 9-9 tie with the Indians in Surprise. Unfortunately, I had battery issues after the first few innings and did not get Alex Gordon's grand slam or Buck's solo homer. Sorry.
Anyway, remember the HD option when available for best viewing."
I don't want to clutter up the Fanshots section with numerous videos, so I'll just give you the following links instead:
