I am a lifelong ( 1976 - Present ) LA Dodger fan!
I grew up in Simi Valley and spent my entire childhood listening to Scully, Porter, & Doggett while playing pick-up baseball or just throwing a tennis ball against a wall. I took my portable radio with me camping and actually rode my bike down to the corner store to fetch a newspaper "The Daily Herald or the SV Enterprise" - just to read the box-scores. I played Strat-O-Matic and pitted my Boys in Blue against the hated Yankees and Giants and played until we were victorious!
I sat at lunch at Sequioa Jr High School and with my contraband "sneaked" portable radio - heard Rick Monday hit his historic Blast against the expos
I Threw a plastic 2 - Litre of Pepsi into the ceiling of my Albertsons (at least I worked there) when Kirk crushed the A's - again on another hidden portable radio.
I have now suffered for 20+ years without a Championship and I trully feel this is the Best Dodgers team I have seen since 1978!!

I still wear #15, as Davey Lopes was my childhood hero and I emulated him as best I could - We both ended up as teachers (look it up!)

True Blue LA A pitcher hypothetical?

Here's another situation that I recently reflected on

Pitchers get contracts based on a myriad of statistics, thus something like a walk has consequences.

Situation:

with 2 out The Dodgers are leading the Phillies by 1, Werth has just doubled and first base is open, Torre goes to the mound, knowing that this is going to be the pitchers last inning and not wanting to pull him. He orders the intentional walk to Howard, because he likes the matchup with the 5th place hitter. The pitcher walks over to first base and Loney takes the mound and throws 4 balls to the standing Martin, Howard trots to first and Loney and Kuroda switch back. Kuroda then fans Victarino and the inning is over.

Kuroda does not have to "bear" the walk on his walks given nor on his WHIP, or the dozens of other stats that such a walk would be penalized for. Loney couldn't care less.

Why doesn't this happen more? is it really the fear of a wild pitch? Is it really that tough to lob 4 wide right?

Just wondering what people had to say
