Timmy was sold down the river. LA Times Story Most of us nailed this one. AD Garrett cuts off personal communication......sound familiar? AD Garrett releases LOIs w/out consulting the head coach.....we suspected this?!?! AD Garrett leaves a program and a successful coach blowing in the wind in the face of public scrutiny.....obviously! AD Garrett is instrumental in allowing a barrage of unsubstantiated Internet rumors to destroy a great Trojan recruiting class and bring down the rapidly rising Trojan basketball program.....yes!

And, to add salt to our wounds, Timmy proclaims his innocence. Many of us with managerial business experience know that you can't successfully run a business without clear lines of communication. We know that employees do not want to work for an employer who does not have their back.

AD Garrett is in way over his head. He simply does not have the experience to run a business as large and complex as the USC AD. His bumbles, stumbles, and mismanagement have caused harm to USC's reputation, millions in lost hoops revenue in a brand new arena, and cast USC as an incompetent administrator of high level sports programs.

It is time for AD Garrett to step down. If any NCAA institutional control violations are alleged from the NCAA investigation, when and if it ever concludes, it is my sincere hope that MIKE GARRETT IS FIRED WITHIN 24 HOURS!!!!!!

Floyd said he "took the high road" because his three assistants were 17 days shy of getting their contracts renewed and he knew if he blasted USC they would not be retained, as they have been, under new coach Kevin O'Neill.

Floyd said after that, "word got back to me" that Garrett had told the board that he was one of three USC coaches on the chopping block "if things didn't improve in their programs." He said that's why he checked out the coaching opening at Arizona.

Floyd said he left USC when he realized recruits were being released from their scholarship commitments "without consulting me."

"Based on 33 years in this business, to not have any more support ... If I hadn't been financially secure, I'd have fought them and made them fire me."

Now, I am not going to give Floyd a pass on his association with Guillory. The guy had a past...at USC...so he should have been persona non grata.

It looks like Floyd fell on his sword to protect his assistants...That is admirable, but it is pretty clear to me that Floyd knew all was lost when Garrett started letting recruits out of their LOI's without Floyd's consent (if we are to believe that). I could see Garrett making the statement that if things didn't improve Floyd could be fired but to undermine him like this is unconscionable.

The other interesting thing is that the NCAA investigator in the LAT article essentially admitted that they sacrificed the tOSU hoops program to spare the football program. Man, the NCAA is one F***ed up institution.

I can really see Floyd's account as being accurate. I mean Garrett is the same same guy who Fired John Robinson by voice mail right?

I loved Ellison as a player at SC, and was so bummed by his injury last season that kept him from claiming some post-season awards, including high team All-American recognition. Well, the Chargers released a starting safety because their young safeties are "coming on fast." Yes, they are! Fight on, K-El!

Where is Vidal, I mean, CJ?

{Update: Apparently, CJ had the flu this week. Funny how no one heard about this before the game. And, it sure doesn't explain why CJ didn't get a rush against OSU}

Here are my gripes:

1) CJ Gable is inexplicably in the doghouse. CJ has the most starts among the RBs, 15 career TDs, and has been called by our coaches as the best all-around back. Despite averaging + 25 yds per KO return and being in the top 10 on our all-time KO return list, he has also been replaced on KO returns. I count at least 16 plays for +20 yard gains from CJG who is a dual threat as a great receiving back. Anyone remember this critical play in a tight game on the road:

Joe McFumbles is dangerous, yet averages 1 fumble per game. To all the Stafon-lovers, it is time to admit that he is our current version of Chauncey Washington – tough inside runner with limited break away potential, frequently missed holes, scores easy garbage TDs with the occasional long, untouched run. Our running success was greatly exaggerated by long McFumbles runs against OSU and UW. The truth is that the running game has been extremely inconsistent as clearly evidenced by our 3rd down conversion, or lack thereof, rate.

WHY IS CJG IN THE DOGHOUSE?

2) The CJG situation is eerily familiar to the Vidal Hazelton situation last season. Vidal had 50 receptions as a soph in 2007. Yet, was injured and benched inexplicably by the coaches in 2008. Anyone remember this play by Vidal against Notre Dame:

Vidal was ahead of a young Rojo on the depth chart. So, why was Vidal basically run out of the program? Let’s face it, David Ausberry is simply not a very good football player. With secondaries focused on Damian and RoJo injured, how valuable would it be to have a good #2 receiver playing?

Why was Vidal run out of the program and why is CJG currently being run out of the program? It certain can’t be talent-level or merit-based. CJG is even listed as a co-starter on the depth chart, yet has 0 rushes in the last 2 games.

Would USC’s struggling offense be much better with Vidal and CJ seeing significant time right now? Is the coaching staff so arrogant to think that they can coach us to wins without our best players on the field by playing favorites and riding a wave of megalomaniacal grandeur? Pete’s arrogance has hurt the program!

I hope CJG announces his transfer this week. PC believes that he is more important than the players on the field. Clearly, we need to play our best players to win. PC’s merit-based competition theme is a joke and a sham.

Kiff on OTL

I'm trying to take a break for SC hoops until we hear more from Dixon. Did any of you see the Kiffin piece on OTL this weekend? I personally am rooting hard for Kiff. I love to see him ruffling feathers and stepping on toes in the SEC. I really hope he does some damage in that conference soon. 3 months on the job and he pulls in a top 15 recruiting class. If he continues that recruiting success, he will eventually stick it to Urban, Les, and Nick. Fight on, Kiff.
