Been a Chiefs fan since I was a kid. One of my best times was sitting in Arrowhead club with a 7&7 watching Montana warm up. One of the other best times of my life was being one of the coaches lucky enough to win a Michigan state HS softball title with the hillbillies pictured above.

Arrowhead Pride It's really pretty simple

After all the analyzing, sweating, and fretting is over it all boils down to one thing.

Winning games!

This can be achieved in only one way, outscoring the opponent's team!

That can be done in many ways.

With a smothering defense chocked full of big, mobile, and perceptive guys up front and quick, agile ballhawking guys in the backfield who literally make it impossible for opponents to score points on them. (85 Bears) Then if you have a field goal kicker who can knock one through the uprights you win 3-0. KC has always seemed to be a team more often than not who liked scoring 3 points at a time if they could. Driven me nuts over the years!

The 90s Chiefs had a streak where it didn't seem to matter how many points the other team scored as our offense simply could score more. (Montana, Allen, etc.) Throw in a kickoff or punt return for 6 on a fairly regular basis or a defensive touchdown every couple games you breed confidence as a team in your ability to score the kind of points that win games, big games. As well as it keeps other teams looking in multiple directions at multiple credible scoring threats instead of solely focusing on a mediocre qb with issues making decisions under pressure and an arm that doesn't really pose much of a deep ball threat.

That kind of a balance of weapons should be the goal of all NFL teams eh?

The first place to start is with the group that statistically has the best opportunity to score the most points the greatest part of the time and that would be the OFFENSE! Romeo has proven he has the ability to fabricate defenses that get the job done quite nicely and not always with all what many consider the best players. He just knows how to get the best out of them. Too bad they have had to spend so much time on the field as of late.

With more offensive production giving them a lead to protect, things could be awful damn interesting. But you still have to have the ability to score on offense. It's nice to have D and special teams that produce with regularity but we have seen what happens when you lose some offensive weapons and lack depth. I really hope FA/draft results in a quantitive difference in offensive production and the injured folks returning achieve their pre-injury levels of play! And beyond!!

I'm a softball coach and I know you can settle for a little weaker D if you have 7 or 8 batters that have the ability to take it out consistently whenever they step to the plate!

Really looking forward to what seems to be could be a breakout season for the Chiefs, especially if we load up the offense!

Never a big Al Davis fan but, he may of had something with the "Just win baby!"

Weis remembers Notre Dame student who died in accident
Chiefs offensive coordinator Charlie Weis said Friday that he worked two years alongside Declan Sullivan, the Notre Dame student who died this week in an accident at a Fighting Irish football practice.

Sullivan, 20, was filming a practice Wednesday when the hydraulic lift he was stationed in was blown over by strong wind. Sullivan died later that evening, and he was mourned Friday at a Mass on the Notre Dame campus.

Weis, the Irish's football coach for five seasons, said he knew Sullivan and expressed condolences Friday to the young man's family.

"It’s an awful tragedy," Weis said, "and I know that my family, we’ve been a little bit in the tank over this for a couple days now.

"Obviously the Weis family thoughts and prayers are with Declan’s family and the whole Notre Dame family in addition. It’s just awful."

Arrowhead Pride Chiefs vs Dolts

I am really looking forward to this game as with all that has been wrong in my life as of late, the play of the CHIEFS has certainly been a rose among the thorns.  I'll offer an explanation after the jump.

Arrowhead Pride Call it plagarism....................but it fits!

ProfChesterTQ wrote on 9/14/2010 2:36:10 PM:

Yep, you Cassel supporters are right... Cassel just needs more time and experience... I mean it's not part of the fundamental basics to see Thomas Jones wide-open in the flat 10 yards away and throw a worm-killer into the dirt 3 yards in front of the intended target... that throw is something a Pro in the NFL has to learn over many years... you can't expect a young QB like Cassel to be able to be making those sort of soft-n-easy 12 yd passes out in the flat to RBs... nope, that is a pass few novice or benchseat QBs can make... that's one of the ones they do at combines to test a QBs arm strength even (so I heard) forget the 20 yd outs, scouts want to see that 10 yd lateral in the flat, that's the special skill few possess...

That's why last nights deceptive win is so non-developing... had the Chiefs still lost after having those two favorable and unbankable TD's... the spotlight would be on Cassel's inability to move the offense with bad throws and bad decisions... yet, the Chiefs squeek one out after two "plays-of-chance" and we all put on our rose-colored glasses and choose to ignore the guy who seems to miss the broad-side-of-a-barn more often than he threads-the-needle, that is when he's not patting the ball and taking a sack.

Q: What's first on your list of things to do?
Charlie Weis: "The first thing I wanted to do was help fix the quarterback,"
~roughly translated: "I'm trying to make shinola out of turdola, anybody got an extra $63 million laying around?"

There are two kinds of people in the world, Notre Dame lovers and Notre Dame haters. And, quite frankly, they're both a pain in the ass.

How do you win? By getting average players to play good and good players to play great. That's how you win.

Arrowhead Pride Question

Ok'  now I'm sure some of you can't stand the sight of my name on here by now and it's cool. Like I have said before on here NOBODY wants the CHIEFS to be consistent winners more than me trust me. If I would have only known how many kleenexes I would go through over the 40+ years of being a Chiefs fan I would have bought Kimberly Clark stock at the beginning.

I just want to pose a question or two to you guys and get your thoughts, no need to trade insults/jabs etc.

1.  WHY would Charlie Weis come all the way to KC if Chicago was also gonna offer him a job?

He could easily commute and not disrupt his family's routine near as much as well as easily stay in close touch with the non-profit he set up which will probably where his daughter spends her adult life once he and his wife are gone. He isn't liable to starve anytime soon with all the $$ he left ND with so it certainly wasn't about just the $$. Anybody know what his salary in KC is? I have no clue, just mildly curious.

Now no offense to all the folks with the huge amounts of football knowledge on here, but if we all were really that smart we would be working in the NFL and getting on here when we were bored to read all the posts for a good laugh most of the time. Charlie made a huge investment in bringing Clausen to ND, he put his reputation on the line for the kid and all in all even with the majority of posters on here it didn't seem to hurt him too bad even with how things ended up at ND. He groomed the kid to play in the NFL and undoubtedly encouraged him to enter the draft. Is this all really just coincidence?

I don't ever recall reading where Weis had ever been fired in the past? Now let's not forget he, Haley, and Pioli are probably damn close friends and the thought of working together was probably pretty endearing to all three. Especially when you throw Romeo into the mix as well. I may be crazy but I wondered when Haley set Chan free if he bounced the idea off Weis first. I also think they probably kept tabs on each other (maybe closer than we will ever know) and bounced ideas off each other in regards to their individual situations.

We can't be so ignorant to believe Clausen was never a topic of discussion amongst both or all of them. Some of us may like to think we have the answers or really know what's going on behind the scenes but in reality we probably don't. I could be just as guilty of this as the next guy here too, I just like to throw up hypotheticals and see where things go from there.

Something just makes me think there had to be that little extra nugget to bring Charlie out here with all things considered. Could it have maybe gone like this? "Well Charlie ya know were gonna have a pretty high draft pick and maybe your boy Jimmy would be available...." I don't buy the "it would be too much money" angle either, Clark wants a title after all the years Lamar put into this. With the way KC has had one of the lower payrolls consistently right along with the low performance I see somebody going to the well. Daddy made it all happen and often in this scenario the next generation is a little more liberal when it comes to spending it.

Nothing would get the most out of Cassel like the boy wonder sitting right behind him, if you disagree with that I have less faith in all of you than I ever had.

   Have a good one.

Go Chiefs

Arrowhead Pride Tell me when......

The last time the Chiefs went out on a limb? I mean really, when? KC has been so friggin conservative for as long as I can remember it almost makes me sick. No offense to the memory of Lamar (God love him) but c'mon.

The most exciting thing in years was signing a waning Joe Montana, other than that is has been "what's his names?" and the "he was good in so & so" collection at QB.

When was the last  time KC had a real shot at a potential 1st rd QB? The only KC guy that was a real winner (The big Dance) was Lenny. Half the folks that will read this were either not born or fillin Pampers (still had pins) when he won SB IV.

In the 44 SBs the MVP was a QB 23 times, 11 of those did it for the team that drafted them. 4 were multi time winners Starr, Bradshaw, Montana, & Brady.  8 of those MVPs played on defense

Correct me if I'm wrong on this but I don't think any of them played for the guy that recruited them out of high school or coached them in college. The new OC did recruit and coach Claussen and has won multiple SBs in the OC capacity with one of those MVPs already. (Brady)

Claussen is cocky and proved it by rolling up to ND in a limo. I think it's a plus that he didn't have a phenominal run at ND, wins wise anyhow. (may have humbled him a little) The black eye he received in a So. Bend bar prolly helped a little bit too.

Reading some posts by KC fans it seems quite a few posters have really enjoyed the last 40 years. I read the same old approach that has been applied here time after time over and over, yet at the same time you all grumble about the past performances and results. What is the saying about doing the same things repeatedly and expecting different results?

I read about and remember the "Great offensive line we once had!"  Just how many Lombardi trophies was it that they got us?  They put up some pretty awesome offensive stats but that was about it. When all was said and done we were on the couch watching someone else's team in the superbowl and mumbling "If that friggin Marty or Carl would have just.......".

Been there done that folks and oppurtunities like the one that MAY be there at pick #5 don't come along all that often it don't seem to me.

Now I'll admit I may be SLIGHTLY partial to old ND and the thought of ANOTHER of their QBs having a crack at starting for KC at some point almost rivals the effect of Cialis. (It could last 4 years and I aint calling the doctor)

You all can scoff, laugh, spit, and cuss all ya want but if you can't see the woods through these trees you can bet the farm on the backup with a good heart and lead feet and I'll still love ya! It just may be awful tough not to say I told you so though when we see Claussen kick tail for somebody else. I guess we already are used to watching somebody else do that though eh?

Besides, can you imagine the fodder this would give that Twitlock to sit back and chuckle like Jabba the hut? I hope they keep his ass around long enough to see the "Perfect Storm" come together and win it all just so he could send a signed blank page to print.

All it will take are some (cahones, eggs, uevos) BALLS!

There any of them left in KC?

Arrowhead Pride I've followed ND closely for many moons and..........

Tate is one of if not the top prospect available. Ok hold on before you start bringing up whoever from wherever hear me out. This guy has got some unbelievable abilities and he's a GOOD, CLEAN, and EDUCATED kid. He jsut spent how many years with our new OC?

When I was in school there was a term we used to describe his type it was BMF. (The first word is bad.......)

Tate is not some thug who is likely to be up on weapons/dope charges, what have you, before training camp. If they're gonna spend large dollars he would be the safest bet. That's what they all are, they are gambles. Cheeseburger Charlie knows this kid and his abilities, and if at all possible Tate will end up in a Chiefs uniform or I'll kiss Charlie's BIG bare ass in the middle of main st. A little about Mr. Clausen after the jump.

Arrowhead Pride Cheeseburger anyone?

There are two constants in my life, a love for the Chiefs of KC and a love for the Irish of ND. This weekend one had the experience of a monumental victory in OT and the other experienced a monumental loss in OT. I have been a huge fan of both for over 35 years and they both have always had their own place in my little world. How I see the two coming together after the jump.

Arrowhead Pride A reunion of sorts?

Seriously, I have given the Haley/Weis pairing a little more thought. This guy is damn good on offense and would free Haley to focus on tweaking other areas. They both went to the U of Big Tuna, Weis is already rich courtesy of ND, and could prolly be arranged for him to work for unlimited KC BBQ and a supply of wet knaps.

Give him talented players Claussen/Cassel & Tate/Bowe and he can generate some serious offense. If anything was learned over the last few years (Vermeil) it’s that your defense can be iffy if you still score more than the other team does. That is where you spend your money first, putting points on the board.

I know I’m prolly in fantasyland here but, it seems like a believable dream. Guess we have to see if ND gets by Boston College next Sat. If not I’m sure Charlie will be needing the services of Mayflower.

One more thing, one of my greates KC memories is sitting in the old Arrowhead club, slurping a 7&7 or three, watching Joe Montana do his pre-game warm ups behind the glass at Arrowhead.

Never will forget that trip. My first time at Arrowhead, a beautiful fall day, great seats, Arrowhead club passes, and that damn delicious BBQ. I had to drive ( I quit drinking after halftime)  like a madman to catch our flight as well as hold on to my buddy’s belt as he leaned out the door of a rented Cadillac @ 75 M.P.H.  spewing Bacardi & Coke all over the countryside. We still howl with laughter remembering that trip.

Arrowhead Pride The last KC Chief fan left on earth

I have in my possession a 1977 Jr High yearbook. Back then we kids would all sign the inside covers of each others and on occasion a teacher or two would sign them as well. One of my favorite teachers picked mine up off my desk one day and was reading some of the comments to himself. He started to chuckle and asked if he could sign it too? I said sure as he always had a pretty good sense of humor and there was a constant banter between him and his students. He wrote, " Dear Fish, Good Luck to the last KC Chiefs fan left on earth. You and the Chiefs will need all the luck you can get." Now I have the sincere hope I will one day be able to wave that under his nose when the Chiefs once again go to the big dance and win it. Only problem is neither of us are getting any younger!
