mcc prediction aggregation update
Original FanShot was here...
Despite saying that I would lock down the spreadsheet before the season starts, I procrastinated... anyways, I added Blanco, Sandoval, H Sanchez, and Zito to the spreadsheet. Now there should be a worksheet for most regulars. The only reliever in there is Wilson (LOL us), because I thought it would be difficult to predict non-closers.
I guess I will lock it up after the Phillies series. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

MCC community projection aggregation
scout6 suggested me to put this in FanShot and see if more people might be interested.
I thought it would be interesting to see how well mcc, on a whole, could project Giants' stat. For example, whether the wisdom of the crowd phenomenon could be observed here, or are we projecting like a bunch of homers... (I imagine we are something in between)
So I made this Google spreadsheet so that we can all enter our predictions here in a way that we can easily access, compare, and aggregate. We can lock this file the day before regular season starts and at the end of the season, we can all look back and see how awesome (or sucky) we did, as a whole and individually. Some bragging rights will be won, and some will be lost.
One problem that I see is that there is no mechanism to prevent anyone from sabotaging the data (before it's locked). Hopefully this won't happen. But if any of you more technically inclined mcc-ers know how to do a "enter-only" database, please feel free to take ownership! I am just interested in the prediction data.

hmm... a friend of mine... likes TheLetter2's newspaper links so much he decided to download a whole bunch them. That includes the pdf version of the front pages
* from every single working links on Nov 2 from US, Canada, Mexico, and Columbia
* those on Nov 4 from California with news of the parade on their front pages, and those from Columbia
If you are interested, the zipped archive can be found in the link below. This makes it very convenient to check out how, say The Winnipeg Sun covers the World Series (spoiler: it's not bad). Some of the files don't have the World Series on their front page (what?) and I apologize on behalf of my friend. Note that the zipped file is about 300MB. Sorry for being huge.

Baseball America says Belt (#4 on EL) is a better version of James Loney
you have to scroll down a bit to see the quote.
Indians pitcher Huff carted off field after taking a line drive in the head
Sorry for the edit, DJ, but I don't think the misleading headline was appropriate for this one.
"Canon, that’s your new nickname"
AP wrote
“Canon, that’s your new nickname,” reliever Jeremy Affeldt(notes) said to Schierholtz.
Maybe I am a spelling Nazi, but this cracks me up. So I have to repeat this.
“Canon, that’s your new nickname,” reliever Jeremy Affeldt(notes) said to Schierholtz.
And a third time.
“Canon, that’s your new nickname,” reliever Jeremy Affeldt(notes) said to Schierholtz.
I am doing this solely because it is worth repeating, and is not because of the 75-word requirement.
Any pitch f/x users here?
I just downloaded the pitch f/x data from the Internet and plotted the results of Giants' performance against roast pork face from the last 3 years (although they only faced him twice: 2009-09-12 and 2009-09-18). pitch f/x is really a lot of fun... I am wondering if any of you guys have been playing with it too?
Scott is back! After being confused for a while, I realized this is not the Scott I was thinking about.

Bochy: Renteria to bat 2nd
Awesome idea! I also want Whiteside to bat 3rd.
Who would you pick to replace Bochy next season?
Who would you pick to replace Bochy next season regardless of practicalities like contract situation, whether he likes to live in the west coast, etc. The list is composed of most of the current MLB managers. I probably have forgotten someone. Please free feel to add them in the conversation. Since I am still under 75 words, I will add that for many of these choices, I don't know enough of them, their clubs' prospect development, and past game day decisions to choose one. I do know I don't want Joe Torre or Dusty.
