HELP!! Sayre, Kaptain Kirk, Stedlfeld, John Bena, ElvisAlex, BFree2Bronco, SharpAsATack
Hey, if any of you contibutor writers have some insights to the injury list, April is a good time to spread the word because we are running out of topics to blog about.
-How is LenDale White doing with his achillis injury. Last word was to start running in March.
- Demaryius Thomas and his achillis injury. No word there.
- Darcel McBath and his quadricipes. Man can this kid ever get healthy?
And others from the IR such as Dan Gronkowski, Joe Mays, Lee Robinson, etc.
What does the cupboard hold from 2010?
The NFL statistics database holds stats on each play by each player.
If the player played in 2010 then they got rated.
Let’s look at the ratings for the Denver Broncos.
Brandon Lloyd WR rated #1 out of 199 players at WR.
Champ Bailey CB rated #2 out of 211 players at CB.
Ryan Clady OT rated #9 out of 121 players at OT.
Matt Prater K rated #8 out of 64 players at K.
Justin Bannan DT rated #11 out of 88 players at DT.
Renaldo Hill S rated #12 out of 185 players at S.
Zane Beatles OG rated #19 out of 128 players at OG.
Kyle Orton QB rated #22 out of 86 players at QB.
DJ Williams LB rated #27 out of 116 players at LB.
Tim Tebow QB rated #27 out of 86 players at QB.
Marcus Thomas DT rated #27 out of 88 players at DT.
Joe Mays LB rated #30 out of 116 players at LB.
Spencer Larsen FB rated #15 out of 30 players at FB.
Mario Haggan LB rated #34 out of 116 players at LB.
DeMaryius Thomas WR rated #37 out of 199 players at WR.
Perrish Cox CB rated #45 out of 211 players at CB.
Ryan Harris OT rated #45 out of 121 players at OT.
Robert Ayers LB rated #45 out of 116 players at LB.
Knowshon Moreno RB rated #54 out of 138 players at RB.
Eddie Royal WR rated #56 out of 199 players at WR.
Matthew Willis WR rated #71 out of 199 players at WR.
Syd’Quan Thompson CB rated #81 out of 211 players at CB.
Chris Kuper OG rated #87 out of 128 players at OG.
Eric Decker WR rated #91 out of 199 players at WR.
Surprises yes, Richard Quinn TE rated #31 out of 107 where as Daniel Graham
is rated #83. Number of plays is a factor but still the rating is of how affective was
the player when he did play.
My O&B glasses do see JD Walton OC rated #31 out of 34 improving.
Darcel McBath staying healthy is a big key.
Plus players returning from IR, like Elvis Dumervil and LenDale White
who are impact players. Also returning are Dan Gronkowski, Kyle McCarthy,
and Lee Robinson who may see extended playing time.
I am not forgetting those players that really ‘showed up’ on special teams like
Britton Colquitt, Cassius Vaughn, David Bruton, David Veikune, and Lance Ball.
The cupboard is not bare but each shelve could use some stocking.
Hope you enjoyed the read.

Here are the CORRECT 2011 draft positions for the Broncos
I have read way too many incorrect posts as to where the Broncos will draft. Here is the official Bronco positions;
#2 Round 1 Slot 2
#36 Round 2 Slot 4 (since we tied with Cin and Buf, each round we rotate)
#46 Round 2 Slot 14 (Miami tied with St Louis so they rotate)
#67 Round 3 Slot 3 (still rotate)
192 Round 6 Slot 32 (NE for Maroney)
194 Round 7 Slot 2
Our 4th went to NE for Lawrence Maroney and their 6th
Our 5th went to Tampa Bay, we then selected Syd'Quan Thompson and Timmy Kirlew
Our 6th plus Peyton Hillis and a 2012 conditionall went to Cleveland for Brady Quinn
Where did these guys come from?
Half the time we do not listen to the school when players are introduced, but then I started to wonder and was pleasantly surprised at the starting lineups of the Broncos offense and defense.
The offensive line is the most glaring, only one big named school. But look at the number of others, WOW.
Starting Offense
QB, Purdue
WR, Illinois
WR, Virginia Tech
RB, Georgia
RB, Arizona
TE, Colorado
C, Baylor
G, Utah
G, North Dakota
T, Boise State
T, Notre Dame
Starting Defense
CB, Georgia
CB, South Carolina
S, Michigan State
S, Clemson
DT, Michigan State
DE, Colorado
DT, Oklahoma State
LB, Mississippi State
DE, Appalachian State
LB, Miami (FL)
LB, North Dakota State

Pre-Season Predictions for Broncos
Yahoo Sports has ranked positions by team. I have taken the numbers and have charted the Denver Broncos schedule. Very interesting.
No matter how you compare the teams, offense vs defense, or RB/OL vs DL/LB, or total vs total, the Broncos wins always come out to between 8-10 wins.
YS comments on the Broncos: QB: just a manager, a bust, and a project. DL: age is referenced for Jamal. DB: have no reference to age? WR: there is no starters?
| OFF | ENSE | DEF | ENSE | ||||||
| QB | RB | WR | OL | DL | LB | DB | |||

JD Walton set the contract baseline, so why no more signings?
Look at JD's contract and it was a signing bonus for $780k for the 80th player. Eric Decker should already be here with about a $700k SB. Zane Beadles at #45 should come in about double at $1.4m for a SB. Then at #22 and #25 the numbers that equate are about $4-5m SB. Last year Ayers got $9m at #16. Simple math to me.
Now if the players want more than last years slotted $ and the owners are standing fast as to 'due to the economy' then some players may not sign or play. Sam Bradford for $50m, I do not think so. Rams are going no where so let him sit.
If our players play the money game and hold out, are we OK at those positions. Lets look;
- guard/tackle Zane Beadles. Yes Seth Olsen would probably start at LG and this would be OK. Russ Hochstein would be the ultimate backup.
-wide receiver Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker. They would add much but Royal, Gaffney, Lloyd, Stokley, McKinney, and Willis know the system. If they miss camp then their learning curve would bend anyway.
Yes these players are much valued but the main cog, JD Walton, was signed early. Hum makes you wonder.
Bronco defense rated
Most of us do look through Orange & Blue colored glasses when we post about OUR Broncos. I too am the glass-half-full Bronco fan. While waiting for TC most of us scourer the web for Bronco tid bits.
Here is some information for discussion from my projected depth chart. How good are our defensive players? Here are some ratings from the Fantasy Football world.
LDE – Ryan McBean - Adequate starter
- Le Kevin Smith - Average rotation lineman
NT – Jamal Williams - Pro Bowl defensive tackle
- Ronald Fields - Adequate starting nose tackle
- Chris Baker – Average Backup
RDE – Justin Bannan - Useful starter
- Jarvis Green - Decent role player
- Marcus Thomas – Average Backup
LOLB – Robert Ayers - Decent starter
- Darrell Reid - Decent situational linebacker
LILB – Mario Haggan - Excellent backup with some starter tools
- Wesley Woodyard - Adequate reserve linebacker / fill-in starter
RILB – DJ Williams - Excellent starter
- Akin Ayodele - Solid starting linebacker
ROLB – Elvis Dumervil - Pro Bowl pass rusher, solid starter
- Jarvis Moss - Situational linebacker
LCB – Andre Goodman - Adequate starter
- Parrish Cox - Good return specialist / nickel back with upside
RCB – Champ Bailey – Perennial Pro Bowler
- Alphonso Smith - Adequate backup corner
- Nate Jones - Solid nickel back / special teamer
SS – Renaldo Hill - Adequate starter
- Darcel McBath - Starting safety
FS – Brian Dawkins - Hall of Famer
- David Bruton - Adequate starter
- Josh Barrett - Solid rotational safety
Now I can see why most pundits rate Denver's defense in the top 10.
Post draft review
NFL Pro Scouts define needs for all 32 teams. Here is the Broncos.
THEY NEED: C, LB, DL, TE, WR, CB, QB.
THEY DON'T NEED: K, P, S.
POSSIBLE FIRST PICK: LB Rolando McClain, WR Dez Bryant.
OUTLOOK: The Broncos bought a defensive line (Bannan, Williams, Green) in free agency after watching teams run the ball straight up the gut last season. Now, they have the prototypes to complete their conversion from a 4-3 to a 3-4 defensive alignment. What would really help are inside and outside linebackers (Ayodele, Kirlew). They also could use a center (JD Walton) following Casey Wiegmann's return to Kansas City, a pass rusher (Ayers,Moss) to play opposite NFL sacks leader Elvis Dumervil, and a wide receiver (Thomas, Decker) following the trade of Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall.
The bold is my insert of the players that s/could solve those holes. The additional CB's (Cox, Jones, Thompson) should make the secondary twice as good and they were great last year.
One area the scouts missed (IMO) was oline. But that was covered really good by (Beadles, Olsen). This really gives Denver the best young OLINE in the NFL.
May have just got a little thinner at tackle..
Matt McChesney had his foot ran over by a golf cart. This is the same foot he had surgically repaired last year. We were thin at tackle due to Harris' toe and Clady's patella. Williams was a good pickup but the key player may be CFA Chris Marinelli out of Stanford. He was an All-American last year but with the depth of OL in the draft he fell to us. Blessing in disguise??
Sayre is the happiest Bronco
Yes Tim Tebow is a Bronco. Sayre touted that he would be. Sayre even listed all (many times) of his tangibles.
No he is not NFL ready but many see the tangibles a major pluses. Can not wait to hear Coach McDaniels explain the resoning and where they are going to play him.
If they really wanted him they could have got him at #43, so IMO they wasted this first round pick that could have been used to bolster our greatly in need OL.

Peter King of SI thinks
Denver must take a QB. Here is his take on Coach McDaniels.
He's traded Jay Cutler, Brandon Marshall and Tony Scheffler in his first 15 months on the job. He and GM Brian Xanders have the 11th, 43rd and 45th picks to start the replenishment, and I expect them to at least take a quarterback by pick 45 to compete with Kyle Orton and Brady Quinn. It's all well and good for McDaniels to have his own program and to be making decisions to get a bunch of his own guys in there. But if this year ends without a quarterback of the future in place in Denver, and the Broncos hired McDaniels thinking at the very least he'd run a great passing game, well, the fans (and the owner) are going to be pretty disappointed.
Now this pundit must realize that there is no franchise QB in this draft. Besides Bradford, Brandstater is as qualified as all the QB's in the 2010 draft.

Option 3 for pick #11
We have all speculated about what to do with #11. From taking best player available, like McClain or Bryant or Williams or Haden or Thomas. Then there is trading down, a great option this year due to the depth of the draft. But trading down means you need a partner who wants to move up and select a player of their need. IMO this year will be hard to do that.
Now comes the third option. Select then swap players. If no deals can be worked out to satisfy the draft chart value, they still can agree upon needed players for each team. Example; lets say McX can not get value for #11 but really wants a certain player with value at #20 and Houston wants the player at #11. Denver takes Haden and Houston takes Pouncey then they swap. Usually another player from Houston would be included.
Just another option
Onus is on Brandon Marshall (and his dumb agent)
Coach McDaniels stated to NFLN “we meet with Brandon and asked if he wanted to just stay with the Broncos, if so then we would tender him at the highest. But if he wanted to test the market for his value then we would tender him at the first round”.
Brandon Marshall has now realized what his value is in the current market. I think that if a team blows the Broncos away with a trade offer then they will make the trade. If not then the Broncos will keep their WR and move on. I do expect Brandon to be in a Bronco uniform in 2010.
I also agree with Sayre, Bena, KK, Stedlfeld, and others that the Broncos will do EVERY thing to trade down the #11 pick. I do understand that teams give false indications when preparing for the draft. Are the players that visited Dove the ONLY ones that McX will draft? I think not. If the Bronco board has 2-4 players that are top shelve and one ‘falls’ to #11, would they make the pick? I think so.
But if their board is ‘on target’ with what they thought would happen in the top 10 then I think McX starts the plan to garner extra picks.
Mount Cody on draft day
Words from national media "Any 3-4 should jump at the chance to get this guy. He is a beast and was obviously successful despite his weight at Alabama under Nick Saban. Even if he is just a 2 down player, his impact on those 2 downs and one special teams where he had a great impact blocking field goals would be worth a late first round pick."
IMO the way the NFL teams take guys like this out of the game by running the no-huddle, what good is a 2-down player. I have the same feeling about 3-4 LBers who can not drop into coverage.
McX draft theory. BPA at position of need
Lets say that Brandon Marshall decides to stay with Denver.
Denver has 5 (five) picks in the 2010 player selection. Two players to select in the top 50.
Top needs are OC OL DL RB WR
Logic tells us that at #11 a DE/DT/OL would be the selection because CB, QB and RB are not a priority.
But at #11 the reach (-2) for McClain is minimal. And the reach (-11) for Iupati maybe too much.
Then logic tells us that at #45 maybe the center is available. If not then BPA from the rest.
Now if we use McX’s logic from last year (best player available at position of need) then we
Could end up with two OL in the first two picks. BUT you must find two impact players with the picks at #11 and #45.
As you can see, the ‘area’ for slotted players is top 10 then top 20 then top 50.
Example for DT is 2 in the top 10, none in the top 20, and 3 in the top 50. Meaning that after the two ‘sure’ picks in the top 10, the drop-off is 3 from 30 to 50. None rated in the 20’s.
Center: 1 in top 50 at #40 Pouncey
CB: 1 in top 20 and 4 in top 50
DE: 2 in top 10, 1 in top 20, and 2 in top 50
DT: 2 in top 10 and 3 in top 50
ILB: 1 in top 20 at #13 McClain and 2 in top 50
OLB: 1 in top 20 and 4 in top 50
OG: 1 in top 50 at #22 Iupati
OT: 2 in top 10, 3 in top 20, and 2 in top 50
QB: 2 in top 10
RB: 1 in top 10 and 3 in top 50
S: 1 in top 10, 2 in top 20, and 1 in top 50
TE: 2 in top 50
WR: 1 in top 20 and 5 in top 50
This is a very deep draft and I would mortgage next year
to get two-three more players in rounds 3-5.
Sayre/Bena/Stedlfeld etc. Please explain
I have read the following on many sites.
Many agents already have recommended to their restricted free-agent clients to skip the team's offseason workout sessions. The agents don't want these players in harm's way in case a new CBA changes their status from restricted free agency to unrestricted free agency.
I thought the 2010 CBA was a done deal March 5th. OTA's do not start until after the draft. And if they do sign a new CBA April 1,2010, it is not in effect until March 4, 2011. WHAT AM I MISSING
Why would Denver want Ben Watson?
The issue of Sportingnews magazine lists the UFA and what teams ARE interested
in each player. I highlight ARE because nowhere has there been any information about the Broncos wanting Ben Watson of NE.
Watson and Daniel Graham are identical.Watson:6-3/255 29years old Graham: 6-3/257 31 years old. Combine note on both “a solid pass catcher who is a very good run blocker which is hard to find in the NFL”
Now is it that Watson is in NE and EVERYONE thinks that Denver only picks up FA from NE? Probably.
I do not see Denver even talking to Watson unless they plan on moving Graham.

Previously on Center evaluations at Dove Valley
The following takes place between Jan and Feb 2010
Present were Coach Josh McDaniels, GM Brian Xanders, Director of College Scouting Matt Russell , Pro Player Personnel Director Keith Kidd, new offensive line coaches Clancy Barone and Bob Wylie.
CB-BW: Who are the current centers on the team?
JM: Casey Weigmann 39 11th year and Dustin Fry 25 2nd year
CB-BW: Are there any transition players that have center experience?
JM: Yes, Ben Hamilton a guard 32 9th year.
CB-BW: What are the FA possibilities?
KK: Not many. There is Kevin Mawae on the Titans 39 16 years.
CB-BW: What are the prospects in the Player Allocation pool?
MR: Weak position, one impact player in Maurkice Pouncey in the 1-2 round. Then two prospects in the 3rd round in Tennant and Walton. Then there are projects in the 5th round. like Olsen, Larsen, and Cook
CB-BW: We will need to study the tapes. Thank you all.
Many weeks later.
CB-BW: We recommend that Casey Weigmann be cut and that Ben Hamilton be offered a backup/trainer role to help with Dustin Fry and a draft choice.
BX: This will help with the salary situation. Casey Weigmann will save us $2.6 million and Ben Hamilton’s salary in 2009 was $4.8 million.
Well, it could have happened that way.
Lets take off the Blue & Orange glasses a second..
Let’s REALLY take a look at our favorite players.
- Brandon Marshall is becoming a diva that becomes a cancer to the team. Trade him before value drops.
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/335986-dreamer-alert-broncos-are-stuck-with-marshall
-DJ Williams is a 60-40 player, 60% of the time he makes good decisions but then he loses gap containment or gets lost in middle coverage down the field. DJ totaled 122 tackles as ILB but Dawkins had 112 from FS.
-Peyton Hillis could not show his abilities when on the field. He would try to hard and make errors about every time he was given the opportunity.
-Tony Scheffler is a running games TE. He can surprise the DB’s once in awhile but in a passing offense he can not create space. 38 screens were run and 11 were to TE Graham. IMO Tony also has an attitude towards McD.
- Alphonso Smith may have been the ‘exciting’ pick for CB but Sean Smith, MIA, Jerraud Powers, IND, Derek Cox, JAC, Vontae Davis, MIA, Jacob Lacey, IND, Lardarius Webb, BAL, and Darius Butler, NE all had contributing or impact rookie seasons as CB’s. And they were picked after #36 except Butler.
-Chris Baker has the athleticism, size and strength to play on the line but he was inactive every game but one, with just an average DL. Now McBean and Fields had decent season but Baker could not beat out Smith, Thomas, or Peterson for playing time.
-Eddie Royal did not seem to pickup the system and lacked the confidence of what to do. The injuries also slowed his progress but IMO he will be just fine in 2010.
-Tyler Polumbus was given the chance to be a starter and showed that he is only an average backup. He did have some nice games but just was not able to consistently perform from week to week.
-Casey Weigmann being 285lbs is not strong enough to man the middle blitz’s that are being used in the NFL. I will admit that having different LG’s did not help the consistency.
-And my last is Chris Simms, he just is not an NFL QB anymore.
To the players I would say that each coach see’s different things in each player but it is still football. Coach McDaniels has a saying that depicts this “a player must show up to be able to get on the field”. I wonder what would have happened to Terrell Davis if he would not have ‘shown up’ on special teams with some big hits.

Bronco 1st round reality
I am a pro football enthusiast, no not an expert, just a rabid fan who reads a lot about the sport. I use the blogs to post ideas and thoughts as to what MAY happen. No where close am I a talent evaluator, just a Monday QB.
I have read and firmly believe this to be fact; invest in the tackles because they have the longest longevity of players.
The offense is in good shape with Clady and Harris. Polumbus is developing into a quality backup. The defense has bodies that could put the Broncos in good shape with McBean, Smith, Baker, Fields, Powell, and Pedesclueax but they have not ‘shown up’.
If Suh or McCoy were available it would be a no brainer, right? But now the very good second level must be evaluated. Is it a Price or Williams or Odrick. Even next with Alualu, Thomas, or Houston can be there in the 3rd round. 2010 draft have many very good DL and OL players, all worthy of a high pick.
My thought is to try and trade down from #10/11 to pickup more picks. Yes I realize that that would be giving away the defensive QB at ILB. If the trade is into the 18-20 range then the Moscow Idaho beast is there. If the trade is 21-28 then pull the early trigger on the franchise center from Florida. This still leaves much picks for the CB, DL, WR, and RB that are needed to bolster the team.

Coach McDaniels and the Belichick/Parsell philosophy ‘play vets and build through draft’
You can see this clearly in NE. They get Moss, Welker, Thomas, and Seau then draft Seymour, Warren, Mankins, and Chung. But seldom do the rookies start, they are groomed.
You saw it in the Jets when Mancini was coach, now we have seen it in Denver with Coach McDaniels.
Dawkins, Hill, Goodman, Davis, Fields, Griesen, Parker, Reid, Buckhalter, Jordan, Arrington, Gaffney were brought in started/contributed and the core of the Broncos was formulated. Then the draft.
When issues arose and changes were needed, it was not the rookies but more vets like Gorin, Lloyd, and trade for Smith, Hochstein and Law.
Is it no trust in the rookies or just the philosophy because 9 out of 10 years NE is always drafting in the 20 range of picks. Not the ‘NFL ready’ players but the prospects that they coach up to NFL ready players.
I think also that Coach McDaniels wanted to do well but had too big of hill because he had to teach his new coaches first then they had to teach the players in the new schemes.
I am curious how he will react in the second year. Will he cut Law and leave Alphonso Smith at nickel to really learn the NFL? Will he put Seth Olsen at guard to show his ability? Now he did rely on rookies to an extent, like Moreno starting, McBath in for injured Dawkins, and the special teams. I think Moreno was more because of the 12th pick (and ability).
I do see some dead weight for 2010. These are players that did not grade out well at all and with the uncapped season they can be let go with no salary repercussions.
LaMont Jordan
Brandon Lloyd (may be an exception)
Vernon Fox
Brandon Gorin

Marshall trade option
Many many posts have Brandon Marshall being tendered then the Ravens picking him for the 1st and 3rd tender picks. As many many experts know general manager Ozzie Newsome doesn't believe in giving away high draft picks for anyone.
But here is a new wringle. The Ravens would like to trade (move) Troy Smith, 6'1" 225 3 yr QB from Ohio St. They would like to get a 3rd-4th round pick for him. No I do not think Smith is an NFL QB starter but he does have intangiables that really fit a spread offense.
My offering for debate is, if Denver does NOT sign a FA QB vet or not draft a QB (yes I am OK with Clausen at #10/11 but would still prefer McClain) then trade Brandon Marshall to Baltimore for their #25 pick plus Smith.
Can we keep a post on the injured?
@Sayre, Swg, Stedtfed, Bena, and anyone else who has contacts to find information about the injured players on the Bronco team.
I can not get this inside dope. We would love to hear about how Ryan Harris is doing with his foot. And McKinney's knee? And McBath? Pedesclueax?
The injured will play a big role on how the FA and draft shapes up for the Broncos.
This would really help fill gaps when the players are in the off season.
Josh McDaniels and Tom Brandstater
Does Josh make Tom #2 is the question. Did TB get enough coaching in 2009 or was all that time spent on KO due to the fact that the coach was new and the system was new.
If the answer is no then the Broncos need to prepare a plan for a veteran for 2010. A 2010 pick is unreasonable.
NFL draft boards only have two 2010 QB’s rated high, Clausen and Bradford. Neither will fall to #10/11 and trading up is ridiculous considering the positions that need filled. A 2011 pick like Ryan (love that name) Mallett of Arkansas or Jake Locker of Washington may be the answer?
NOW if the answer is yes then the fan base starts to smile again.
NFL overview: Tom Brandstater is a big (6’5” 225lbs), strong (25 225’s) quarterback. He's a good football player who has good speed (4.85 40) and athleticism for his size. Brandstater possesses the range and arm strength that National Football League teams look for in a pro style quarterback. His intelligence on the field is evident, but academically it is even more impressive, having graduated before his junior campaign and is finishing up work on his Master's degree.
With the Ravens now out..
and Derrick Mason talking retiring, it sure sets up the possibility of a trade with the Broncos for Brandon Marshall. The Raven have the 21st pick and may give it and the 85th to Denver for Marshall.
Here is the question, do the Raven wait to see what the March 1 date brings in the CBA story or do they decide to pay Marshall and make the deal? If they make the deal and there is a new CBA then they are ahead because they have their #1 WR, and for less money than bidding for him.

GREAT GREAT GREAT move by the Broncos on staff
One of the best moves by this organization. Turner, Tuten, and Bluem are at tops in their fields. Bluem may be the most valuable because he is the capologist. Another coach would be Dennison the OL coach. Since Coach Mcdaniels choose these guys last year then why just let them go?
It is just very smart business since to keep these people. Now if an other team wants to promote them to another level then compensation is worked out.
Now with the 12th picks in the 2010 draft...
now that the Bears should finish 7-9, there may be no doubt about taking the franchise tackle from Idaho, Mike Iupati. Most of the 'experts' have stated the Iupati inside 10 would be too high.
Well the most important issue now is that the Broncos really shore up the OL. Ben Hamilton is gone, Casey Weigmann is 36, Russ Hochstein is only a bu. Seth Olsen should fill one hole but the other is not in the Bronco camp YET.
McDaniels, a pedigree or street mutt!
How about the Aurora housewife who asked “Coach McDaniels, where is your pedigree, you seem more like a street mutt”. She went on to state that McDaniels said, “we do not draft players to be cut”. First player cut was 7th round OL Schuetler.
Not one 2009 drafted player makes an impact. All five first day players have done just OK. Only Moreno ‘looks’ good because he is force feed the ball, but the running offense is only rated at 14. All choices have been on the inactive list.
We must thank Coach McDaniels and Owner Bowlen for bringing in defensive head coach Mike Nolan because he brought Ron Fields with him. Nolan also wanted coaches Nunnley, Martindale, and Donatell. Nolan’s philosophy is to defend from the DB’s to the DL. “tight coverage, to give DL time to harass the QB”. This philosophy has worked well since they got FA’s Goodman, Dawkins, and Hill. But there is no nickel or dime player.
BUT the NE way or players have not worked in the West. A 5th for Smith who can not break the lineup. A 7th for Hochstein who coach plays over Hamilton or 4th rounder Olsen, but the offense is worse. And Jordan who is really a waste but coach plays over Hillis. And tackle Gorin who is on the inactive list each week. Cut Jack Williams and sign retired Ty Law who then gets hurt. OH wait, one NE player is worth the money Jabar Gaffney.
Here are other players of note; Brandon Lloyd who is on inactive every game. Darryl Reid who gets penalties about every game. So why did they keep Jarvis Moss?
Yes I can see a list of players heading to Washington. Like Scheffler, Hillis, Larsen, Dumervil, Kuper, and Moss. OH ya Marshall for the money Snyder will put out.
So yes, Aurora housewife, you have a better eye then the pundits of the weekly Bronco news.
McDaniels, just answer the question!
Lamont Jordan over Peyton Hillis? I would love to hear from Bobby Turner.
Plenty of people wondered why the Broncos called for a screen pass to left tackle Ryan Clady in the first quarter Sunday. Clady was tackled right away, and the catch was wiped out because of a penalty anyway. Why was the play called? The play looked ugly, but McDaniels defended it.
"It was a gadget play," McDaniels said. "I wouldn't have called it if I didn't think it would work."
The Broncos used undrafted rookie Tony Carter, signed off the practice squad Saturday, ahead of second-round pick Alphonso Smith, why? Is your trade of 2010 1st a bust? McDaniels said he thought Carter played well in his debut.
"I think he represented himself well," McDaniels said.
Why cut Jack Williams to sign Ty Law then promote Tony Carter?
As coach Vince Lombardi would say "What the hell is going on out there?"

Can not beat Oakland
Three years running, the Broncos can not beat the Oakland Raiders at home. And this time, Oakland did not have a QB, but the Broncos always find a way to build the confidence of the Raiders early and today was no exception.
Coach McDaniels decided to use trick plays today, which boggles the mind. The best way to give a team confidence is to make them think that you can not beat them straight up so you need trick plays.
McD may be a good coach but his play calling in six of the games has resembled high school thinking.
ONLY one good thing came out of this game, David Bruton showed that he is an NFL player. Along with Darcel McBath and Josh Barrett, the safety positions are in good hands
Nice to see the Chicago Bears get the Broncos right next to the 8th pick in the 2010 draft..
