Missing piece, starting QB

When healthy, Kyle Orton is an excellent backup QB. His main problem, is that he does not look down field. Yes the scheme is to thrown under coverage but it is also to take the 20+ when presented.

Chris Simms? He seems totally lost. He is not an NFL QB at this time.

Tom Brandstater may be the best option until KYle is healthy. IMO find out if another draft choice is spent on a QB.

Spencer Larsen MILB Denver Broncos. Does anyone have any updates to the shoulder injury? He slipped in the locker room in Cincinnatti in week one and we have not heard from him or about him since.

I bet he is chomping at the bit to get a piece of action in this season. In training camp he was spelling Andra Davis is the MILB and would have seen a lot of action on special teams.

Lets keep Coach McDaniels, huh?

I am a 'told you so' kind of guy. Negative bloggers that knew nothing of football wanted the coaches head from day one when he picked up Lonnie Paxton as his special team long snapper with a bonus of $1million.

Well I posted that while in Denver, I was a member of the Quarterback club and got to meet Pat Bowlen and spent about 16 Sundays listening to him. He is a very smart business man. So when he picked Josh McDaniels, I just thought he was the best man for the job, according to Mr. Bowlen which is fine by me.

Did I question some moves that were made? NO because I do not have any football player evaluation experience or knowledge. I did want to hear the reasonings behind a few, which when stated made complete sense.

Now at 6-0, all the moves do make sense and the pundits are eating crow and spintalking that 'nobody could have seen thsi coming' ya right!!

3. Feel-good story of the year? Denver. I'm looking at notes from a couple of interviews I did with Josh McDaniels -- one on the weekend the Jay Cutler story was blowing up in March, then next from training camp seven weeks ago today. "If we win, none of this will matter, and if we lose, then we blew it,'' he said in March. Five months later, he said, "We just need to start playing games. Whoever's on your team, all that matters is winning or losing.'' I guarantee you that's the vibe he sent to his team.

Whether Denver's a championship team or not -- and allowing an insane 6.5 points per game through four weeks suggests they'll battle San Diego for the AFC West title -- there's one thing you have to love about the Broncos: They've got a Patriot way (what a coincidence!) of tuning out the outside crappola and focusing on the only thing that matters -- the next play. They tuned out the Jay Cutler thing. They tuned out the Brandon Marshall distraction. That's not easy in an NFL-crazy market like Denver, but McDaniels did it. "DO YOUR JOB'' is the gigantic wall art in the Broncos' team meeting room, something McDaniels brought with him from New England and his mentor, Bill Belichick. And it's what his players are doing.

Now let's do a mini-analysis of the biggest decision of the off-season, Denver dealing Cutler for two first-rounders and Kyle Orton. It reminds me of the Patriots dealing Drew Bledsoe in 2002 and handing the quarterback job long-term to Tom Brady. Bledsoe, the independent-thinking mad bomber; Brady, the caretaker who'll follow the gameplan to a T. Just substitute Cutler for Bledsoe and Kyle Orton for Brady and you've got McDaniels' line of thinking. Now, I'm not saying (and McDaniels wouldn't either) that Orton's going to morph into Brady, but the amount of negative plays at the quarterback position has been exactly what McDaniels has preached: zero interceptions, zero lost fumbles, six sacks. If Orton continues on his present pace -- 3,624 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, 59 percent passing (that should be a tick better) -- the Broncos will be playing in January.

Hey all you Raider trolls; Fingersrdrs Raiders, SR (sorry raider), Chris Cross, Gil Becerra, and F. Dellomes II

all came on our (Bronco) blog and laid down some heavy trash talking.
Lets see if any have the bal..(guts) to come back and discuss the ass whoppen.
It was not a game the Broncos just won, infact they left at least 10 points on the goal line.
The trolls above came with Seymour, Warren, Harris being stout a DL as is and that Denver would not run well. hum 216 rushing yards seems pretty good.
AND McFadden, Bush, and Fargas would run all day. Hum less than 90 yards seems pedestrian.
With all of the above being said, I hope you beat KC, SD.

Mark Schlereth, the 'garbage front seven' and Broncos are top ten defense. What's up? Great pressure, bunch of sacks, many turnovers, and little scoring. Hum maybe you do not know defensive talent.

Jamie Dukes, Kyle Orton has a passer rating above 100%, your franchise QB Cutler, 61%. WOW a QB that does not turn the ball over or put your defense in terrible positions.

John Clayton, the Broncos ALREADY have two of the three wins you predicted. You REALLY do know football huh!

I have struggled all morning with my 53. Anyway here are my 23 cuts;
WR - M. Willis, C. Jackson, N. Swift
OL - S. Bryant, M. McChesney, K. Lichtensteiger, M. Erikson, C. Oldenburg, B. Gorin
TE - none
QB - I. Marin
RB - M. Thomas, L. Jordan
DL - E. Pedescleaux, M. Askew, C. Powell
LB - T. Crowder, B. Kelley, L. Robinson
DB - A. Spann, V. Fox, T. Carter, J. Bell, R. Moulton

To explain; B. Marshall a WR, 4 TE's for the majic III set. Jordan has not been sharp since he lost 20lbs plus P. Hillis is the power back.. IMO B. Lloyd beat out C. Jackson. 5 safeties because J. Barrett is too versatile. DJ Johnson out played J. Bell. Polumbus, Olsen, and Hochstein BU the OL., J. Moss just made it instead of T. Crowder.

After clearing waivers, the practice squad; M. Erikson-OL, N. Swift-WR, E. Pedescleaux-DL, L. Robinson-LB, C. Powell-DL.

Final 53

Question: can the Broncos (and any other thursday night team) cut down to 53 on Friday? I see a nice benefit if they can. I know the players have to pass a 24 hour waiver but does it START at 2pm Saturday? The wording is that each team has to be at 53 BY 2pm Saturday.

If Denver players are available by saturday morning then those teams would have to cut someone before claiming a Denver FA. If possible this may get a couple of players waived for the PS.

Back to football, too much Marshall and Cutler

NFL teams must cut player rosters from 80 down to 75 by 9/1. Who do you think will be let go?

My five are Braxton Kelly, Britton Colquitt, Stanley Bryant, Matthew Willis, (Brandon Marshall suspended). The idea is that these players to be cut will not play this game. Due to the fact that if they are injured then injury compensation would have to be paid.

Saturday the 5th will be the hard cut date down to 53 then once players have cleared waivers, they can be assigned to the practice squad.

Two steps backwards

Coach McDaniels should not have given these players the light schedule on Thursday.

Terrible looking in ALL phases. Really dumb interception. Defense with no RE. Four fumbles do to lack of securing the football. ST does not know where to run to. McD should have left the 1's in the game until they learn to play.

Right now the strength of the team can not run the ball and guess why? YEP 8 men in the box. The D knows that if all you are going to do is dump/dunk the ball off 5 yards then all defenders can play 5 yards off the line. Do you realize that I figured that out myself.

I think Monday was an off day. WELL it may be back to work and they need it.

Terrible just terrible how they regressed.
